  1. Obviously he's been off the past few days because he was being cloned.
  2. Tab is still around doing a good job over at bleachernation as their Blackhawks guy. Him plus the gents from the Athletic that everyone else has mentioned are my primary resources.
  3. This makes 6 starters having spent time on the DL this year, right? Steele Hendricks Taillon Assad Wicks Brown I think Imanaga and Wesneski are the only ones that have started a game this year that haven't gone on the DL at some point. More than two syllable last names are the new market inefficiency. (I'm not counting Little being used as an opener)
  4. Before tonight, only five players have won the Conn Smythe Trophy as a member of the losing team in the Stanley Cup Final: Roger Crozier (1966, Detroit Red Wings), Glenn Hall (1968, St. Louis Blues), Reggie Leach (1976, Philadelphia Flyers), Ron Hextall (1987, Flyers), and Jean-Sebastien Giguere (2003, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim)
  5. Canada still sucks at hockey
  6. damn. I hope everyone is okay
  7. Very true. Except for the White Sox.
  8. Woulda been Trout if he had stayed healthy. Steroids or no, Bonds is in the top 5 all time, imo.
  9. That all depends on what you're talking about. If you're talking about helping to generate wins to this point of the season, you are absolutely correct. If you're talking about what is more predictive of how he'll play the rest of the year, then it is absolutely the underlying numbers.
  10. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that we should have Hendricks closing.
  11. Yeah, I'm not ready to jump back into ARod comps yet. But I'm really happy with the progress this year. The plate discipline gains have been unreal, and the speed he's showing is a really unexpected bonus.
  12. I haven't seen a Jones comp. There's a reason he's the #1 defenseman in the draft. I've seen more questions about Demidov than Levshunov. Pronman is probably the low man on him, but he's not the only one that questions whether Demidov's skating will limit his ceiling.
  13. He's way more shiny than last year at this time, though. The babip is high, but he's third in the entire carolina league in wRC+ while playing at one of the hardest pitching parks in all of baseball.
  14. I'm happy with either one.
  15. I'm following on gameday - was strike three as bad as it looked there?
  16. So that makes what, 273 IL stints on the year so far?
  17. Brett at BN pointed out that on June 8th last year, the Cubs lost their third in a row in Anaheim to drop to 10 games under, then started an 11-2 streak by winning on June 9th. This year, the Cubs lost their third in a row in Cincy to drop to 3 games under, then won on June 9th (and hopefully starting a similar streak). Mix in one hot streak like that along with otherwise .500 ball and the Cubs are in solid playoff position.
  18. Okay - I give up. I'm back on board the train.
  19. I'm being obtuse... We already got our Oneil Cruz with Fernando. This is definitely our Elly.
  20. All I ask for is some combination of Oneil Cruz and Elly de la Cruz
  21. lol - I thought about that for a second, but went with Eugene anyway. 🤣
  22. Still better than Kris Bryant's debut in Eugene.
