  1. Knew it was true. Hoped it wasn't true. Realized the hope was stupid. Still disappointed now that the hope is crushed.
  2. That's sort of a funny post. It states that Angelo (or someone else) called Rosenhaus. It doesn't necessarily read that the topic of conversation was Burress. Maybe all they did was discuss how inexplicably smoking hot Megan Fox is. Twitter is apparently changing sports reporting now, making it even more bits & pieces and even less comprehensive & solid.
  3. This is not an "I told you so thread". This is simply a restatement of what I said earlier in the year, a prediction I made in late April that I was lambasted on. hahahahahah :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: haha, for some reason that went right over my head. nice.
  4. I guess it's appropriate to ask at this point: does anyone know if he's kept himself in shape? He's been out of football for a bit.
  5. I've got a list of about 10 "I-told-you-so" things I have refrained from posting. Trouble is, there's about 20 "I-told-you-something-that-turned-out-to-be-completely-wrong" things too
  6. Oh, well that's good. Wait, I mean that's the whole freaking problem. I don't care if Aramis can come back and play third base. I care if he can come back and hit. Ramirez has always reminded me of a slightly more refined version of Soriano. He doesn't have a particularly patient approach at the plate, but he does draw more walks and strike out less frequently. His production, however, relies on his violent swing making contact. He's not going to be Theriot dumping it into right, and he's certainly not going to leg out many infield hits or turn singles in the gap into doubles. He has to hit the ball hard to be of value to this team. Can he? I don't know, but I don't think you can grit your way to power. You can't grit your way to power, and that's the whole problem, and Carroll himself was the one saying all the doom & gloom about Ramirez, and now he's coloring it the opposite...and...and.. Color me totally and completely confused at this point. I'm just going to assume ARam will not be the same until I see otherwise.
  7. This could get very interesting then, with Plax.
  8. I actually think they MUST find a way to keep Marshall. After losing Cutler, they just can't afford the appearance that every good player they have on offense is unhappy and wants to leave. There are plenty of Denver fans who are still steaming over Cutler. If Marshall joins the parade, they could be looking at no-shows, bad ticket sales, the whole bit. I don't know, buy him a truckload of hookers or something.
  9. I don't see Denver ever trading him here after already having sent Cutler here. Yeah, I'm just dreaming.
  10. I'm sure North Dakota's first championship is coming any day now. ;) What about NCAA hockey? They've won it haven't they?
  11. Maybe Boldin would take a shorter deal and Marshall wouldn't? I don't know. Would Marshall ever look good in a Bears uni, wow.
  12. Dusty played a great deal of small ball - that's why he liked guys like Juan Pierre and Neifi Perez at the top of the order. "Dustyball" is far from sitting back and waiting for the 3-run homer. Plus the Cubs aren't slugging well because ARam is gone and Bradley can't hit. I can't see any of that being Perry's fault. A hitting coach doesn't dislocate a guy's shoulder and then cause a multi-year vet to forget how to hit, all in the space of a couple months. But......sometimes the guy that is fired isn't the person who the message is being sent to. That's how I view this move. Perry's gone, but the message is to the players. I don't know of any other way to think about it.
  13. Maybe Soto really is coming around and we'll have Lee & Soto in the middle for awhile. I don't know how to fix this. We need ARam back. That's my big fix.
  14. 7 Championships -- the Bulls & Bears. That's it.
  15. Yeah, I totally agree. This kind of stuff is for the fans who like the whole mythos of the Cubs that is born from the "Ya gotta believe" and "This is our year" mantras. I'll still watch it though. I haven't seen it, so I don't really know what it is about. But it does seem a bit strange that a movie was created to commemorate a season that ended so abruptly and disappointingly. I mean don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed last season. But ultimately the outcome was no better than the year before, when we also lost.
  16. I'm bummed by the fact that football season is such a long ways away. Bears news is at a minimum now, and with OTAs done will likely be nonexistent until training camp over a month from now. Here's an article by Haugh that at least chews on a few topics: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-15-haugh-bears-chicago-jun15,0,1838700.column

I usually check in on this once or twice, but I was travelling this weekend so I missed it. It's kind of cool watching the different race classes within one race.
  18. It's too bad a great NBA playoffs had to end with a snoozer of a finals, but congrats to the Lakers.
  19. The 2006 team was excellent. I doubt this team is going to be better. The offense might be slightly better, but the defense is not nearly as good, and the special teams won't have as big an impact. I doubt this team is better than the '06 squad. I heard Mulligan's comments too, and thought they were a bit over the top. I'm expecting improvement, but I'm also trying to keep the expectations under control.
  20. I don't see the big deal.
  21. Good job Reddick. You aren't getting the Kobe foul.
  22. Glad to hear Rex will at least be able to stay in the league for now.
  23. Yeah, the man is really starting to frustrate me now. It's just as frustrating to watch as I'm sure it is for him to experience it first hand. Get some freaking good wood on the damn ball, come on. I'm sick of Bradley missing his pitch, fouling crap back, then looking at strike 3 or hitting a weak ball. Square up on some crap. NOW.
  24. Hmm, Wandy's career numbers against us aren't all that special. Must've been my imagination. We just didn't have it tonight. Good to see Soto blast off. Not much else to say. Offense stunk it up again.
