  1. Saints 34 Colts 31 Gotta call for an upset every once in awhile. Makes life more interesting.
  2. Yeah, I think many feel like if it could be quantified, there would many "myths" of great defensive players that would be effectively busted.
  3. The NFL Network Super Bowl telecasts are in their entirety. I'm recording it tonight so I can suffer through it again tomorrow night. Yeah I don't know why I put myself through that. It's probably because I watched the game at a bar and never going to hear commentary and get the full "Bears in the Super Bowl" experience that I get when I watch other SB's at home or at a friends house. It was cool to watch and realize that the Bears were actually in this huge event that half the world watches and is a huge spectacle. In any event, the first quarter was fun to watch...the rest not so much. I've noticed the Colts do that in alot of their games. If you look at it, that Super Bowl was much like many others for the Colts. The opposing team comes out looking good, then they look at what that team is doing, make some adjustments, and eventually just take over. Sunday might very well end up being the same thing.

    Pro Bowl

Even though in order to get those higher ratings, they had to morph the game into the Pro Bowl except a smattering of non-Pro-Bowl-type guys like Johnny Knox. So it's now the pseudo-Pro-Bowl. But! The ratings were higher 8-)
  5. I'd pay real money to be able to forget that this bozo ever pitched for the Cubs.
  6. Your friend and you don't: -Have the bodies of professional athletes -Have the training regimens of professional athletes -Have acces to the type of drugs a professional athlete does. There's really no comparison between what you guys did/felt and what a pro athlete would. Yeah, plus there are so many varieties out there now. Hard to compare personal experience to anything someone else is doing; even from one player to another.
  7. When I think about Nomar, I think about a guy who could have been HOF worthy but was injured too much. I can't see it.
  8. 90% of the crowd won't even see him. They'll be too focused on the game, or too focused on getting drunk, or too focused on their girlfriends. Those that do would look pretty stupid booing McGwire when Sosa was right there with him most of the time. It's time to leave Big Mac alone and play some baseball.
  9. WGN games aren't in HD for me anyway. I just would like to not pay for EI this year. Trying to keep costs under control.
  10. Another part of my childhood dies. I know MLB has rules and such governing broadcasts on superstations, but listening to Harry and Steve and watching 154 games a year on WGN was one of the best memories of my childhood. The crappy thing is I live JUST out of the range of CSN. If I were 15 miles further south I could get it in my cable package. I still credit a large part of my being a Cub fan to watching games after school on WGN. Me too.
  11. Read this article on the plane yesterday: http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2010-01/taking-guesswork-out-baseball-stats I didn't realize this was happening. It doesn't mention if it will be installed everywhere, or just in a select few places. There's much more detail in the printed article.
  12. I do remember last year the Hawks went into a similar "funk" They came out of it and did very well I'm kind of glad it is happening now. Let's get it out of the way and gear back up in time for the playoffs
  13. As I mentioned before also, Dick Vermeil said the guy is amazing. Look, he has a reputation for being tough on people who don't work hard. Sometimes that rubs people the wrong way. Know what? TOO BAD. Get your work done and there won't be any reason for him to ride your ass.
  14. Trent Green was just on the SCORE saying Mike Martz is wonderful to work with and is the perfect match for Cutler. I'll take the opinion of the guy who actually worked with him over pseudo-experts who never played football, thanks.
  15. Just followed the score periodically from lovely Dayton OH. I watched Wisc/MSU instead. Looks like that turned out to be a good thing.
  16. Interesting. I didn't think they would do this. I don't hate it but doesn't this take away any and all halfway decent clubs for the NIT? I can imagine that tourney folding in a few years.
  17. I think this is the hire that makes the most sense given the landscape.
  18. I'd trade Theriot. Wouldn't bother me at all. Depends on the return, of course.
  19. I thought Prior didn't like the Cubs anymore precisely because we wouldn't keep giving him money to not pitch.
  20. With all this talk of OC, the DC seems to have been pretty much put on the back burner. I'm hearing that the assumption is that Marinelli will do the job. As much as Angelo appears to have been reluctant to see Lovie hire another one of his friends, I wonder if he will be happy with a Lovie pal just slipping in to the DC role too. It doesn't seem like there will be the kind of change at the defensive coordinator position that would lead me to believe the defense will experience a large jump in production, unless they do pick up the search again. However, a full season of Urlacher would help by default, IMO.
  21. And in most cases, you need two big-ticket guys (or at least a 1b big-ticket guy). We only need 1 more then. To me Rose is big ticket right now. Imagine what he would be with Bosh.
  22. He did it the last playoff game last year. He did. And that's the hope I'm holding on to. But when I look at Huet, I see a weakness on the team. Sorry, but unless I see something better from him I'm not changing that opinion. If he's great in the playoffs, then that's awesome. I'll love it. But right now, I don't think he's very strong.
  23. I'll also be interested in how they spin the hiring, if they do go with him. They knew he was interested weeks ago and just now got around to interviewing him? I don't see how they could stand up there with a straight face at the press conference and tell everyone that they got the right guy and are really excited to have him on board. They will, but most people should be able to see through the bs. BS or not, they will surely just say they wanted to do a complete interview process with multiple candidates before making a hire.
