  1. They were blown out 4 times: 45-10 by the Bengals 41-21 by the Cardinals 36-10 by the Vikings 31-7 by the Ravens So nearly half the time they lost, they got blown off the field. And it was against playoff teams, so right there you can see how far away they are from being a playoff calibre football team.
  2. you are mistaking the team for the fans. The fans are just happy to be there. The team is a different matter. A blowout seems extremely improbable. The worst the Saints have been beaten this year was by 7 points (I'm not counting the last game where the starters didn't play). They had one of the best offenses in the history of the NFL this season. Even if Manning is destroying their defense, their offense will do enough to keep the game respectable. The Colts defense is hardly stellar. Certainly not on par with what the Vikings were throwing at them. Yeah but the Colts can pressure, and what I was seeing yesterday was Brees struggling because the Vikings were getting good pressure. I'm hoping for a good game, but I do think a Colts blowout is on the table. There's an outside chance the Saints could win by taking the ball away (which they are marvelous at), keeping Manning a little rushed if not sacked, and taking away the deep stuff. If they can keep it close and then get turnovers, that's where I see the opportunity.
  3. It seems clear from the way candidates are staying away that the general feeling is Lovie is toast. I'm sure if he pulls off a minor miracle and wins 10 games he'll be brought back. I'd be floored if that happens. It's probably not in the best long term interest of the organization, either.
  4. I didn't see that story. I heard it on the Score last week. Now, I find an article that says Angelo reportedly only asked that other candidates be looked at first. http://chi.scout.com/a.z?s=25&p=9&c=2&cid=940758&nid=4208314&fhn=1 So it was probably a classic Score over-reach. I think it's time to call Martz and get him in here. It was Terry Boers that said it, and although they reported it on the "Score Updates" that Angelo "vetoed" Martz, the way Boers had actually put it was just that he wanted to look at other candidates first...but they may end up coming back to Martz. I gotta tell ya, I think Angelo wanted to can Lovie. I think his statement about money not being a factor was true...for him. Unfortunately I think it was a factor for the McCaskeys. That could be.
  5. New Orleans native Peyton Manning will be trying to take all that Bourbon Street joy away... I find that to be interesting. trust me, Saints fans are just happy to be there. I don't think losing the Super Bowl would bother us all that much, especially against Manning. I can see that. Also, check this out: Peyton is from New Orleans, trying to beat the Saints. Brees played his college football in the shadow of Indy, trying to beat the Colts. I think this is an intriguing matchup. I give the Colts the edge, but I'm definitely excited for this game.

  7. i honestly have no recollection of this game Hasselbeck had a goal line sneak that was a TD but they said it wasn't upon review or something like that. That's all I can recall. I remember watching some of it at the gym thinking to myself how crappy of a game it was to not even care that I was at the gym during the freaking Super Bowl. I might have missed that game, travelling for work. I definitely didn't feel very bad about it.
  8. TC this year is going to be like a ghost town compared to last year.

  10. Which is why calling a roll-out was such a dumb call. An already lead-footed QB with an ankle injury? Let's roll him out of the pocket! Yeah, but the roll-out wasn't all that bad. He got out of the pocket fine, and was in open space. I think it was just another bone-headed INT by Favre in an NFC Championship game. That one is all on Brett, IMO. There were other options, better options. He was moving perfectly fine on that play and made a dumb throw, which is what he always does and what he was always destined to do to finish off the Vikings season. This had to happen in this exact way. *best Darth Vader voice* "It is your DES-tiny..."
  11. I thought Angelo "vetoed" Martz? Or was that just media crap?
  12. It's a 2 on 1. The goalie's responsibility is the shooter, he can't move until the puck is passed. The defender's responsibility is to make sure that the puck carrier can't stick handle across the crease and to ensure the pass doesn't get through. When the pass does get through, there will be an open net. There was absolutely nothing Huet could do there. Yeah, it's difficult for me to call that one soft.

  14. It'll be your basic Favre offseason. I'm retired. Well, actually I might not be. It really depends on your definition of "retired." Maybe I'll be back, dunno. Wait, did you say training camp is over? I'll be there tomorrow.
  15. Glad Favre lost, but the horrible OT rules and inability of refs to call PI was on display in all its ugliness there. The Vikes never get an offensive chance, and the Saints drive is kept going by questionable calls. Not the best way to choose a champion.
  16. Oh my God that 2nd angle looks like he might not have it!! No!
  17. Only a miracle can save the Saints now.
  18. No longer enjoying this. Don't like where this is headed
  19. No...
  20. Awesome! Vikes picked a bad time to lose the ability to secure the ball.
  21. Hard to believe that ref could be unable to make that TD call, and yet still judged by the NFL to be one of the league's best.
  22. Oh that's 100% a TD. Gonna be 28-21 Saints
  23. Yes it was. The one called included a lift then drive into the ground. That's illegal. The second one was later and the second guy got him low as well. basically every time a qb gets hit or even breathed on could potentially be called a penalty. yeah it's all gotten a little too random for me. What's being called on the field isn't a rule--it's guesswork
  24. He's on the table, but no way in he'll he's not going back out there
  25. Defenses aren't allowed to play football anymore
