  1. I'm mostly bitter that he wound up on a rival team without us having any idea he might produce, even if it is for 450 ABs. Could certainly have used him last year when Ram went down.
  2. True. I meant it still feels like he'll drop back down.
  3. Really rooting against him would take too much of my time. I can't see myself looking at his stat sheet very often. But in general I try not to hope people fail, even though I really don't like Bradley much.
  4. I'm wearing the Kane jersey to work Friday. This, of course, means we cannot lose.
  5. Could it be that the Brewers knew something about his game that the Cubs didn't see though? It seems possible that you could see a guy and realize a tweak he needs to make. If the other club doesn't understand what needs to be done, it could make for a decent, cheap risk to take. I'm not sure if scouts really do this or not though. Feels like it could just be a fluke, but I guess we won't know until a little more time passes.
  6. Biases, blind spots, fallacies. I'm staying optimistic dammit!
  7. you just lovvvveee to see him fail, don't you. Who doesn't? At this point he is the only person on the planet outside of his mother and the Mariners rooting for himself to succeed. Mariners fans probably aren't as miserable as Cubs fans, and actually want the guy to do well. I do too. Rooting against him seems very strange to me. For what it's worth, I'd like to see him succeed as well. But he's still a 10 year old emotionally.
  8. Hawks will dominate. Get ready to be amazed.
  9. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambler%27s_fallacy I'm sticking with the optimism, fallacy and all.
  10. I don't think he's talking about age. If you look at the articles that are being written about Hudson's comments, most everyone is saying it is a strong hint at racism.
  11. Can't say I care for pessimistic NCCubFan. There are enough of us half-empty guys running around sir. Once you cross over to the wrong side of 50 (as I did this past December) and still haven't experienced a championship I think makes one a bit more pessimistic. So true. Except I didn't make it to 50. Not even close :)
  12. What does Cooperstown do with something like that? Not sure about anyone else, but frankly I wouldn't want Leake's opening performance cap cluttering up the actual important items on display when I visit.
  13. I'm choosing to be optimistic on this. Pisa's been hurt the past 2 seasons. A 3rd in a row would be unbelievably unfortunate, and probably even outrageously unlucky. I think Pisa has a very solid season in '10/'11.
  14. We'll see if Silva can keep pitching decently. It's not a surprise to me that Byrd has been doing well, but Silva I did not expect. It's so early though, I'm still bracing for bad Silva to show up.
  15. OK. IHP mentioned he thought the ballpark was beautiful though. His complaints seemed more driven by the antics of the fans and the music being played than anything, unless I misread what he was saying. I can see a city like Cincy needing to be a little more budget-minded than some other places. I think it's understood they have a little more trouble drawing fans than some other places around the league -- and that it likely won't change until they go on a playoff run. That said, I'd still like to see a ballgame there. Heck, I've been wanting to see a game in KC too. And that place is probably a little on the sparse side too, in terms of number of seats taken.
  16. Now I'm going to have to listen to this horrible song everyone's talking about.
  17. Someone needs to learn to post in the right thread.... :D lol i'm an idiot And so am I. I still don't know how I did that.
  18. Shark for 8th inning reliever! (J/K)
  19. What a horrible thing to say. At least give me a fighting chance of not having to realize this.
  20. would you have rather had Samardzija vs. Braun? I think he's saying Dempster was left in a little too long.
  21. McGehee bails Demp out. Put him on a short leash for the 6th, Lou.
