  1. It'll be a good game if Ainge can keep from throwing easy interceptions in key situations. Ah, yesterday was a great game. Tennessee gave it all they had, but LSU was just a little bit better. Kudos to the Tiger fans that ya'll will be in the National Title game and I'll try to be content with the Outback Bowl instead of the Sugar Bowl. As for Wisconsin, I think we match up very well against them. Their defense is nothing special and I feel like Ainge can pick them apart while Arian Foster should have a good game. The defense should handle themselves fairly well, after holding down a better LSU offense. Both teams are actually eerily similar. The running games are nearly identical, with Foster having slightly better numbers than PJ Hill and the passing games are similar with Ainge being a little more efficient than Tyler Donovan. Ought to be a good game.
  2. I hate Verne Lundquist. I really, really hate Verne Lundquist. I may be muting the TV part way through this game.
  3. Brent Vinson (CB) and Demonte Bolden (DT) will both play, but are banged up pretty good. Running back Montario Hardesty will dress, but hasn't practiced this week and didn't play much against UK, so I doubt he plays much if any today. Losing Hardesty hurts, but Arian Foster has been the starter all year and has really played well recently. We'll need Bolden (a junior) and Vinson (a freshman) to play very well today.
  4. Whoo hoo! Defense takes over and even scores a 2 pointer! That's pretty impressive that the coaches taught their players how to play defense during halftime.
  5. We're under an hour til game time now. This is really starting to get to me. I'm listening to the pre-game stuff on the radio and only getting myself more excited. The nice thing is, it sounds like the worst case scenario is now the Outback Bowl - not a bad consolation prize. I want to see the Vols in the Sugar Bowl, though. Haven't seen that in a while.
  6. Interesting Cuse. The 31-23 UCF/Tulsa game we were discussing earlier is now early in the fourth quarter and the score is now 37-25 Golden Knights. 6-2 so far in the second half, there's a defensive struggle for us. :D
  7. Gosh I hate the prevent defense. It might be the most worthless strategy in football. I can't think of anything a team does that's less effective than prevent.
  8. An hour and a half til gametime. Gah, time is absolutely crawling right now. I may be a nervous wreck by 4. Final prediction: Tennessee by 3. Everybody's been saying we don't have the first shot to beat LSU and that's usually when Phil Fulmer-coached teams play their best. I also was swayed by Flynn not starting and Perilloux filling in. Perilloux is the better natural QB, but Flynn's dang good and has the experience that helps in games like this.
  9. Interesting turn over events. He did say he is the head coach and will be the head coach and he has no interest in talking to anyone else. It wasnt a flat out im not going to Michigan but its as close as close gets. All I know is we're left looking like Alabama or ND after this. I don't recall who was Bama spurned by? Just before Bama hired Saban, they had Rich Rodriguez all but signing on the dotted line before WVU stepped in and gave him a monster deal with promises for facility improvements. Bama was definitely left with egg on their face and it's likely why they felt the need to shell out $4 million for Saban. I forgot about that...so it's the last 2 times for them then. Yep, I do love to see Bama get embarassed. It runs in your blood since your coach is a big tattletale.  Aw come on, don't let the whining Bama fans influence you Cuse. They're just jealous they've been through five or six coaches (at least, maybe more) since we hired our current one.
  10. Neither team has even attempted to play a lick of defense in that game. It's fun to watch, but there really is no defense. Honestly it almost isn't fun to watch because of the defenses being so lame. Yeah, I love defensive struggles, but have no problem watching 100-plus points combined either. Variety is always a good thing. :D As do I but I don't know of many defensive struggle there have been in the NCAA's this year. That Colorado/Nebraska game was just plain goofy. Pretty much every Nebraska game this year has been goofy. I also can't think of any other defensive struggles we've had this season. Offenses are extremely strong this year and that spread option so many teams like to run is certainly aiding the number of shootouts.

Strippers and a certain coach. Yep, Mike Price likely fits the bill too. Not sure which he was talking about, though the Rodriguez thing is more recent.

  14. Less than two hours til gametime. This is freaking awesome build up for the biggest game Tennessee's had since 04, I'm just hoping we at least put up a fight. The Les Miles controversy seeping over to today will either really help us (LSU players will be distracted) or really hurt us (LSU players will be fired up to play for their coach). Hopefully the former, but I don't see how it has no effect.

  16. Sabinistic. And we all know what Saban did after getting pissed off and insisting he was not going to Alabama - he went to Bama.
  17. Link. I think this will help your boys tonight too knowing their coach is going to stay. In all honesty I kid around with your program but it's a heck of a program and it's really surprising that there has been that much turnover. Well, the turn-over came because we hired the mercenary, Nick Saban. But for all the hate, Saban has received in these parts, he put the program back in the national spotlight. He showed his successors what can happen when you use the fact that LSU is the only major program in the state as a recruiting tool. I'm neutral on Miles. I think he's a great recruiter. I question some of his coaching decisions. I'm going to hate losing Pelini, so I hope an adequate replacement is found. I'm glad Miles is staying because it helps with the stability of the program, but I wanted Butch Davis when they hired Miles and I still wish they had pushed for him instead. I wonder what the chances are that ya'll bring in Tenuta? What with the rumors he was heading to Ann Arbor with Miles, I wonder if there was a connection between him and Miles or him and Michigan? He's easily one of the best D-coordinators in the game, so I kinda hope ya'll don't get him. Maybe he is on his way...we'll see. I was upset when we lost Fisher to Florida State. I'm not really sold on our OC either, but I guess we're stuck with him. I'm curious to see what he'll do with Perilloux, who has more natural ability than it appears Flynn does. He was almost definitely a downgrade from Jimbo though (though most offensive coordinators are).
  18. The best thing Wanstedt has done since getting there is recruit very well. He's about to the point, though, that those good recruits are going to have to perform. I'm surprised by the extension, I would think they'd wait until there were signs the recruits were going to perform. What it also does is tell the new recruits, hey...I'm going to be there for a while. I don't think Wanstedt is a very good coach but you're right his strength is recruiting and they have done really well. I like how my school did it. You have 1 more year to prove you stink and this scares the recruits away for another year. If you can recruit and evaluate you can win and Robinson can do neither, and is a below average coach without a good solid plan. I'm going to go cry in my pillow now. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the "we know you suck, but we'll give you one final year to prove otherwise" line of thinking. It's bad for recruiting especially, but not that great for the program as a whole. To be honest, when ya'll hired Robinson, I really felt like Norm Chow would be a great fit. He's a great offensive coordinator, and would likely have installed an exciting offensive strategy to draw some fans.

  22. Very true, but it was that much worse for Tennessee's secondary. Marsalous Johnson and Antonio Gaines just weren't fast enough to even compete with Harvin, Ingram, etc. I think Vinson and DeAngelo Willingham can at least stay in the same relative area.
  23. Well good luck and enjoy the game! I'd like to see a well played competitive game and when UT loses, they really lose by a lot this year. Our problem in our losses this year has been a veteran QB dicing up our young secondary. Nate Longshore and John Parker Wilson are both smart veterans who simply out-thought our two freshmen and third first-year starter in the secondary. In the Florida game, we starterd veterans, but they weren't close to as athletic as Harvin, etc. Thus, Florida receivers were just running by our secondary. Flynn's a fairly smart QB, but doesn't have the experience that Longshore and Wilson do. That will work to our advantage. Also, I think we're just as athletic and fast in the secondary as the LSU receivers, so there's no real advantage either way there. Starting true freshmen Eric Berry and Brent Vinson has really helped the secondary out (with the exception of the Bama game).
  24. Less than 40 hours til the SEC Championship! I'm really excited about this game. Tennessee gave Auburn a great fight in the last SEC Championship game and I think the gap between the teams is closer this year. LSU is a great team, but inferior to 2004 Auburn, whereas this Tennessee team is much better than the 04 version. Terribly unscientific, I understand, but I've got all kinds of thoughts about this game stewing in my mind. Right now, I say LSU by 10. I may change my mind by gametime, though. If the Tigers come out flat early it could cost them the game. If they show up to play, they could demolish the Vols.
  25. It's quite a task to play worse than the Jets. But if anyone can do it, the Dolphins can. I went with 0-16. At this point, the Pats are going to get every team's best game. Plus, with the Steelers, Ravens and Giants still left, there's a very good chance the Pats will get beat up enough in those that they could drop one (or more) of those or take a week off against a lesser team. I wasn't sure they'd do it before, but I'm nearly positive the Pats won't go unbeaten after nearly losing to the AJ Feeley-led Eagles.
