  1. Aren't we stuck with Neifi! to at least sometime in June at the earliest? Phil Roger's is ridiculous.

  3. I was just looking around at some player stats, and, for whatever reason, probably becasue he looks like frankenstein or something, I found that Tony Clark hit 30 HRs last year in 350 somethin ABs! http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/clarkto02.shtml I thought it might be fun to post other stats that blew your mind!
  4. Vida Blue c. 1971.
  5. That's key. He needs to be in the opening day rotation. I don't mind them having someone around to push Reyes. I like the signing, Ponson is the type of guy Duncan could do wonders with. I guess it's ok for Ponson to push Reyes, but if he stumbles and falls on top of him, I don't think Reyes would survive. Speaking of stumbling and Ponson. Is that him in your avatar? I hear the Pontoon boat parties like a rock star...or a naked dude.
  6. Until the Chubbs got Neifi!, I thought him and Deivi Cruz were the same person.
  7. If this proposal actually happened, you have to take some satisfaction in the fact that the Orioles haven't jumped on it. I mean if Hendry is stupid enough to try to trade Prior for Tejada, the Oriole folks would have to be even dumber if they didn't accept it. So there's a shorter midget apparently.
  8. Rotoworld says it's a 1 year deal. Raise your hand if you would have rather had that than Jock...
  9. BINGO I don't advacate the trading of Z or Prior, but that is a very realistic point. Remember not trading Sammy in 01 I think? Big mistake. Hindsight is always 20/20. That is seriously financial irresponsibility on the Cubs' behalf, especially considering the contracts they just handed out to Jock, Eyre, and Howry. Good call. If they want to sign Prior and Z, they can and will, especially considering that Maddux and Wood will be off the books. Again though, this strikes me as a perfect Chubbs move. It would be the Broglio for Brock trade for our generation.
  10. Sadly, at this point, I expect the Chubbs to deal Prior. Why not? It's not like they have any clue at all? Prior is inexpensive and extremely valuable, with his best years ahead of him. Why not trade him? GUH. Prior and Zambrano. My untouchables.
  11. Unreal huh? God that was a magical year. Sadly, I feel the pitching staff has to be that good to bring us another one of those. Hopefully our offense will be good enough. I'm praying Williamson can return to form. If so, our bullpen could be unreal.
  12. How quick we are to forget how much time Prior missed in 2004. Since then Prior hasn't been exactly "lighting it up" either. One major non-improbable injury does not make him a foregone conclusion to be on the DL. He was very good for the first part of the 2005 season, but understandably had a hard time coming back from a fluke injury. I think there is a good chance that he will be mostly healthy in 2006, and if he is, he should be very effective. Very Very very effective. Let's not forget his unbelievable 2003: IP H R ER HR BB SO W L SV HLD BLSV ERA 211.1 183 67 57 15 50 245 18 6 0 0 --2.43
  13. Guh? I sure would love to hear what Hendry thinks is a good trade that involves Prior. To get a player like Tejada you gotta give up someone that hurts... that would really hurt the Cubs. Seriously. It's like a Nazareth or REM song playing over and over again. Prior is awesome, and, when given a full season, has shown he is unbelievable. The Cubs should do all they can to keep him and Z.
  14. Guh? I sure would love to hear what Hendry thinks is a good trade that involves Prior. The one that brings us Bonds, Guerrero and Tejada I guess?
  15. I personally would keep Zito. A top 3 of Z-Zito-Prior would be awfully intimidating, and if healthy, would nearly keep you in the race on their own. Put Jones back in left, sign Hidalgo and let he and Corey battle it out for playing time in Right. At the very least an outfield of LF- Jones, C-Pierre, RF-Hidalgo/CPunk would be fantastic defensively. If neither is panning out come June or so, THEN look to acquire a bat for rightfield again at that point(small market team looking to unload..ala ARam, Lee) Zambrano Zito Prior Wood Maddux Best case.....whoa Is Zito better than Jerome Williams? Not looking for a fight, but just asking. I certainly believe so, Zito is a horse, as well as being electric when really on, and can throw a lineup off for days(especially sandwiched between to righthanded fireballers) 86 wins...5 straight 200+inning seasons...3.50/1.22 career #'s in the AL.....CY Young.......post season experience. I like Williams, don't get me wrong, especially for the $$$. I suppose I'd rock with Zito for next year, then, depending on the Wood situation, and how Hill and Williams develop, reevaluate if I'd sign him long term.
  16. Um.... Zito: 86-53, 3.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 461 BB, 945 K's, 1209 IP Williams: 23-22, 3.92 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 142 BB, 238 K's, 383 IP I'd say yes, Zito is better. That said, Jerome is 3 years younger and nearly $5.5 million cheaper (and not a free agent next year) That being said, considering that he's cheaper and we have Hill, I'd rather just stick with what we have, and try to upgrade at 2B and possibly SS.
  17. They should take out Kansas again this year. :D That was something huh? This year they beat Cuse at Cuse. Tonight they beat St. Joes. I'm really really impressed.

  19. Your right about Cedeno and Murton being unproven but they are replacing guys who were so bad they will almost HAVE to be an upgrade. In Murton's case, you're right. But said crappy SS found a new home, at 2B!
  20. If by "we" you are referring the the cubs organization, I suggest you put down the pipe. But it's the only way I can make sense of this!! Honestly though, if we were rebuilding, I would hope Jaque Jones wouldn't be the RF for the next three years. Otherwise, it'd be like a five year plan. True, but at the same time. If hendry is trying to win, and jones is his soloution...... S.O.S.!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I hear ya goat, just trying to complement this alcohol with some optimism.
  21. What do you think of the Pontoon signing? I think it's pretty PHAT. Pretty Hot and Tempting eh? I might go as far as mouth watering! Seriously though, it isn't a bad pickup, as long as Reyes gets a chance to play. Do they try to deal Marquis so that they aren't SO TAGUCHI (oh man that was gold, gold!) in the outfield?[/img] More Taguchi than any other team in the league. I wonder if a team has ever had too much Iguchi?
  23. I think this Cubs team is better than last years. I think the bullpen has a chance to be excellent. Notice, a chance. Hopefully Williamson will prove to be the best acquisition. The offense has the chance to be good. We are however, IMO, relying a bit too much on some unproven commodities, ie Cedeno and Murton. I'm cool with them playing and trying to develop younger players, but the Jones acquistion makes their contributions more important. Had Hendry traded for Abreu, or even Wilkerson, I would be less concerned. I do like the Pierre signing because I believe he will be a good leadoff hitter. I am also very interested to see how the rest of the offseason pans out. What will JH do with Patterson and Walker? All in all, I'd say we are an 85 win team. Hopefully we can stretch it to 90 somethin wins.
