  1. If the Cubs wanted Clement, why wouldn't they have just re-signed him when we had the chance? Is Jim feeling nostalgic for the 03 team? If that's the case, bring back Randall Simon!
  2. Eh, you still got a sweet ride their Chessekopf.
  3. But, if we trade Walker's 2.5 for Soriano's 10, I don't know that we could afford Odalis's 7.75. Williams is a renewable contract, so he's cheap as well as effective. I'd like another bat too...but if I'm trading young players or prospects, I want a better long term value than Soriano or I want one that is cheap in regard to player cost. Soriano is neither. If Luis Gonzalez could be had for a mid-level prospect, I might take him as a decent option. I'd still attempt to dangle Hill and Pie with others to the Reds for Dunn. I think the 5 hitter could come from LF and it won't be Murton. I'd love for the Cubs to get Dunn, but can't see Cincy dealing him to the Cubs. Is Dunn a FA after this year? No Dunn has two more arbitration years. I don't think the Reds would want to trade Dunn to the Cubs, but I also think an offer of Pie + Hill + Gallagher could be hard for them to pass up. Put Dunn in LF and have a Murton/Jones platoon in RF? Wicked.
  4. Soriano's career .500 SLG is 92nd ALL-TIME: http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/SLG_career.shtml last year he was 37th in the majors in SLG despite his home park. and he's obp was 309. guess where he ranked in obp among 37? DEAD FREAKING LAST that means he was also last in ops. soriano basically has two skills -- power and speed. he's real good at those, but he's real bad at everything else. i don't know why anyone who understood baseball would make a special effort to go out and get him once you take his contract into account. Because at one point in time Soriano batted close to .300, hit 30+ HRs and stole 30+ bases. I guess these are "Sexy" stats to a lot of GMs. I've always been more of a HBP man myself.
  5. Because only idiots actually work in baseball.
  6. You have to figure that Duquette would ask Kenny Williams and MLB permission to work out an extension for Contreras. Wasn't there also a trade involving Brandon McCarthy? If I were the Orioles I would much rather have him than Contreras.
  7. If Pittsburgh residents didn't come to watch Pirates playoff teams from the past, what makes you think they will come to watch an old has been close out his career? Because so few of us were around then.
  8. http://show.imagehosting.us/show/1028336/0/nouser_1028/T0_-1_1028336.jpg VS http://show.imagehosting.us/show/1028338/0/nouser_1028/T0_-1_1028338.jpg But which team is well oiled? Sorry I couldn't resist.
  9. Didn't Crazy Rumor guy come up with this? I thought we discussed this a few days back? Where does Rosenthal get his info?
  10. Thats the first mention of this I have seen, outside of the Denver post. Non guranteed eh? NFL Style!
  11. And Atlanta fleeced Beane on the Hudson deal. Very true. Herr Beane has made a few mistakes, that's for sure. Perhaps we should wait more than one season to judge these deals? Hudson is a huge injury risk. He's averaged over 200 innings per season. Just curious, what is at risk with him?

  13. There was an article in a denver newspaper saying Grissom might sign with the Cubs. The other 9 and a half pages is arguing. Wow a Five Time all-star~!!
  14. Whoah whoah whoah- Let's not say things we're gonna regret later on!
  15. Pac 10 might be abit overrated? NU is a fun team to watch. Had I known I wouldn't have to work today, I'da been there, since I'm in El Paso (Spanish for THE PASO, BTW) ](*,)
  16. even if we could "shoot the moon", how do you figure Soriano in the mix? pierre couldn't hit 10 hrs on the moon. Yeah that's a great offense. But it's also close to career years across the board.
  17. Wellemeyer trades are my favorite.
  18. They have the DH, aka the fifth horseman.
  19. Why don't you tell us how you really feel?
  20. I would change this to "The evolution of Sabermetrics has helped...." The "evolution" has helped. Not "Sabermetrics" have helped.... [/nitpick] Nothing to do with your post, just your name... BUENOS DIAS! WELL BEANS AND DISEASE TO YOU TOO! Sanford and Son is one of the top five shows ever.
