  1. When even the White Sox don't want you, questions should be asked.
  2. I always get annoyed putting together these kinds lists this early in the season, because the signal to noise ratio with prospects always seems to be at its strongest in the early going. We're relying a lot on secondhand reports for players in Arizona, and it's unclear if early returns in the minors are blips due to small sample size/weather/rust/whatever or show legitimate helium or cause for concern. Still, Jason has it exactly right: the good players have been good (mostly) and there have been enough lower level pop-ups to make the 11-20 guys more interesting now than they were this time last year.

  4. Aloy would be fantastic, and fits the profile the Cubs seem to like in the first round for hitters. I'm sorry, there is no way this is a real school. It sounds like something someone made up for purposes of scamming the Department of Education.
  5. That would also explain the blur covering part of the helmet.
  6. You hush up with your rational adult talk, angry children are overreacting in here!
  7. Can we move Nico to SS, call up Shaw for 2B, and then put Dansby on an ice floe out to sea?
  8. Engh. Not a great day to mess around on the bases.
  9. He'll graduate to towel drills in no time!
  10. I get the feeling someone trades back into the 1st to get Sanders. That 5th year option is worth its weight in gold.
  11. Warren and Kmet are comparable in terms of what they bring to the table, but Loveland is more of a dynamic receiver who can complement Kmet rather than be his replacement.
  12. His conference and quality of competition. I didn't say he sucked, but I don't think he stacks up to other recent Top 10 RBs.
  13. I'm just not sold on Jeanty when compared to the other RBs in this draft. I think he could be a good starter and a reliable RB, and he would be a decent pick at 10, but trading assets to get him when this team needs depth would feel deflating.
  14. The best case scenario for the Bears (as unlikely as it is), is for at least 2 QBs to go ahead of them. I don't think any QB other than Ward is worth a Top 10 pick, but if someone is desperate enough, it could work out very nicely. I'm personally rooting for Graham, but we shall see.
  15. It's like we traded Old Javy for New Javy.
  16. If you told me a few weeks ago that the Cubs could go 3-4 against the Dodgers in the season series despite (1) playing 2 games in Japan; (2) Steele going down for the season; and (3) Shaw getting sent back to AAA, I would have been grateful it wasn't an 0-7 sweep in favor of the Dodgers. That being said, this is the most fun I've had to start a season in what feels like forever. Keep it going!
  17. Because why let Bears fans have all the fun? Draft Schedule (Central Time): Thursday, April 24: Round 1 begins at 7:00 PM CST Friday, April 25: Rounds 2–3 start at 6:00 PM CST Saturday, April 26: Rounds 4–7 commence at 11:00 AM CST
  18. It's so horsefeathers jarring hearing local sports radio in markets without much sports journalism. It's mostly angry white guys and retired athletes yelling about fantasy/gambling without much substance or analysis. I spent some time in Houston and it was like the Astros, Texans, and Rockets didn't even exist.
  19. *sigh* Someone's gotta do it.
  20. I'm on the fence about trading down from 10. If they can pick up a future 1st or 2nd, that's one thing, but getting a few Day 2/Day 3 picks in what seems to be a decent draft isn't a particularly exciting proposition.
  21. Between this and the Rojas news, things are about to get very, very interesting around these parts.
  22. They went after Bregman for a reason, and they would have been complete fools to pass on teading Paredes (and everyone else) for Tucker. Shaw has the goods, but we all knew he would need to adjust. However, this team's offense is also good enough to get by with him struggling in the short term. If he still looks rough in June, then I'll be worried. For now, let him take his lumps and hope he has a 2024 PCA-like turnaround.
