  1. He just tied his career high in HRs. And he did it in less than a third of the ABs as 2023.
  2. It's been a minute since the farm has had a bunch of dongsmiths, but I'm liking the way this season is going.
  3. Kinda strange to be thrilled about a .500 record over a six game stretch, but here we are.
  4. To me, this is a solid defensive draft for a team focused on building an elite secondary while adding a few bodies to the front seven, which seems to be the Bears' MO under Poles. It's not to say I agree with that philosophy, but I can reasonably foresee a world in which this draft gets an A grade five years from now.
  5. The medicals on Nussmeier must be awful.
  6. Once we get to the 5th round, it's pretty much like throwing darts, so I'm not going to get worked up about the Bears reaching for a guy when nearly everyone else taken after him won't be in the league in five years.
  7. Looking at the glass half full perspective... Thieneman instantly makes this defense better and provides the sort of playmaker the Bears will need in the secondary, particularly in a pass-heavy division, and ostensibly gives them a locker room leader on defense. He fell into their laps, but he was a fantastic pick. Jones addresses a need, provides interior depth, and might be the starter coming out of training camp if he truly has the goods. I preferred Hecht, but I like the pick. Roush makes sense for how Johnson likes running his offense with 2 and 3 TE sets. He provides depth at the position and should be versatile enough to benefit special teams. Thomas is...fast and a kick returner, so he should be good at that? I really hope I'm dead wrong when I think "Velus Jones" any time I see this pick?
  8. This is usually the point where I'd make a comment about the best available DL, but, well, yeah.
  9. The Cubs are doing this despite their pitching staff resembling the immediate aftermath of a Civil War battlefield. What a crazy winning streak.
  10. Attempting to rationalize why this team abjectly refuses to address the DL through the draft. I seriously don't get it and am just throwing horsefeathers at the wall in an attempt to understand it.
  11. I get that Dennis Allen is idiosyncratic when it comes to the DL, but does the guy just refuse to coach rookies on the line or something? This has been an ongoing thing and it's horsefeathers weird.
  12. Screw it, I'm done trying to understand what this team is doing.
  13. I look at it like the Bears don't expect their interior OL to finish the season healthy. It's not another Hronis Grasu situation where Jones could *only* play center, since Jones has the size to fill in at guard if there's a need, and he could win the job from Bradbury on merit. I could also see him coming in for certain packages on an as-needed basis. I just wouldn't bank on him starting Day 1. Center is a weird position, but they can find lots of uses for him.
  14. Legitimately asking the question because I don't know the answer: when was the last time a rookie center played a full season at the position (or close to it)? I feel like most rookie centers either kick out to guard until returning later, or sit until there's an opening.
  15. It's a 17 game season; if Bradbury starts and finishes every game, I'll be shocked.
  16. Center also tends to be hard to grade from an outsider perspective, so I won't get worked up about him having a third round grade or whatever. He's got the goods and comes from a school that tends to produce quality offensive linemen, so I'm not going to bitch about the Bears reaching or picking the wrong Center.
  17. I wouldn't complain about Jacas and Hecht in the 2nd, though.
  18. Perhaps for the first 3 innings of each game, but not afterwards since they need to beat the traffic.
