  1. Bruce Pearl retiring. What do we think, medical, or avoiding the consequences of an investigation?
  2. He's been far and away the best acquisition at the trade deadline for this team. There was a good chunk of people complaining about this team not acquiring a lockdown relief pitcher (yours truly included), but Kittredge stabilized the bullpen and has been phenomenal as a late inning relief pitcher.
  3. It's my main source of hope for this upcoming postseason - there is no single dominant team in the NL. Granted, that can mean nothing in the postseason (see: 2008 Cubs), but it gives this team a legitimate chance at the WS, even if Tucker doesn't come back 100%, since every team in the postseason will have major flaws that can be exploited.
  4. I feel oddly comfortable about a Cubs/Dodgers matchup. The Dodgers are top-heavy in the rotation and lineup, with Ohtani and Yamamoto both having fantastic seasons, but they've struggled badly with injuries and their depth is suspect. They're kinda Cubs-like in that they seem to go hot/cold, which usually is a recipe for trouble in the playoffs. The Phillies, on the other hand, are stacked and ready for a deep run, assuming their bullpen holds up.
  5. As memory serves, health was one of the big factors for Warren being ranked ahead of Loveland, but most prognosticators had them roughly within 5-10 spots of each other. Loveland was also seen as more of a project since he was a stretch the field type of TE, whereas Warren was more in the Cole Kmet mold (which people mentioned as a possible justification for taking Loveland over Warren). This draft was also really muddled where the Bears were picking, since the top 3 OTs were off the board, Graham was popped earlier than expected, and Jeanty went to the Raiders. There wasn't an obvious slam dunk pick there. I kinda think this debate misses the mark, though, since 3 out of the 6 healthy inactives yesterday consisted of two 2025 2nd round picks and the 2024 3rd round pick (which was the Bears' third pick in the draft). You can justifiably debate Loveland/Warren either way, even in retrospect, but those guys should at least be suited up at this point of the season given how high they were selected.
  6. This team constantly finds ways of screwing up their second round picks, be it through trades or otherwise.
  7. I feel like at least 3 of those occurred under Trestman.
  8. If he can salvage anything from this season, I'd call that a major win.
  9. Remember when they went roughly 30 years between back to back winning seasons?
  10. He'll finish Top 3, but as established elsewhere on this site, the Brewers are our rightful NL overlords and their runaway freight train of success will ensure future MVP Isaac Collins or future NL Cy Young winner Chad Patrick wins it. Drake Baldwin also has been pretty good, too, I guess.
  11. He's a Vikings QB anyways, so odds are he's pretty good until it's playoff time, at which point he'll turn back into a pumpkin.
  12. Remember when those orange contact lenses were going to revolutionize the game? Good times, good times.

  14. Considering the Giants just took 2 of 3 from Milwaukee, I'm not exactly surprised at how this series is going so far.
  15. I mean, if Jose Altuve can do it...
  16. For a second there, I thought the Cubs played Milwaukee 9 times in a row in September.
  17. Kinda have to wonder if MLB was messing with baseballs again. I remember we saw something similar happen in AA not too long ago.
  18. Status: Spice House Five Chili Fever
  19. @Brock Beauchamp Please add (in no particular order): Ty Southisene Nick Dean Grant Kipp Tyler Schlaffer Kade Snell Jack Neely Drew Gray Jostin Florentino Yahil Melendez
  20. I hated the pick, but Kepley is kicking ass. Still skeptical of his future, but the power has been a pleasant surprise.
  21. Collins going from an also-ran bench prospect to this tells me that prospecturbation is mostly a waste of time.
  22. Welp. That helps answer that question.
  23. Arjun Nimmala and Noble Meyer for me in 2023. While the jury is at least still out on them, I also was vehemently anti-Jacob Wilson, so, well, yeah. Shows what I know!
  24. I'll raise you the MLB Draft. People around here are eminently reasonable and measured about their likes/dislikes each season, and TT sums things up so perfectly well each year with his annual post: However, around the internet? People lose their ever-loving minds every year when teams go underslot or take an unpopular pick. 2022 is a classic example, where the Cubs took Cade Horton and a good chunk of people were PO'd they didn't take Brooks Lee. That one has worked out rather well so far!
