  1. Last 13 innings of Cubs offense, 2 singles, 2 walks, 1 HBP, 0 runs
  2. The Marlins have scored in 6 of the 7 innings today
  3. He has historically been pretty streaky and is known to go on these longish slumps. Of course it could be him trying to play through another injury as he has had a couple of scares lately. If it’s that then the rest of his season may be derailed. I do think having guys like Nico and Duffy back in there would help but guys like Rizzo, Bryant, Contreras, Baez, Heyward are the same guys that were apart of several ill timed bad slumps that shut down the entire offense over the past 4-5 years. Then they get hot again for just long enough to trick people into thinking the offense is fixed before the rug is pulled out again. Only this time we don’t have enough starting pitching to help us tread water during these times. To be honest it’s actually a bit surprising that we even have 2 wins during this stretch of offensive ineptitude
  4. This is the 3rd time in the last week Ross has kept a starter in to get shelled because he wants to preserve the pen or something. It’s fine though, this Cubs team has scored more than 6 runs only 3 times in 18 June games so chances are the game is over anyways.
  5. Hits over the last week: 5, 4, 3, 7, 3, 4, 4. Hopefully they can do better today
  6. Sucks that our starting pitching is so bad. How could we have anticipated that last winter?
  7. You mean 3 And maybe some offense? I guess Nico and whoever else is hurt might help there. But this offensive funk is starting to take its toll on the team
  8. Marlins have almost as many runs tonight as the Cubs have had in the last weeks worth of games
  9. Whats wrong with just saying your from the Chicago area when you meet people? You arent saying you are from the actual city, and you don't have to confuse someone that lives in England by telling them you are from Des Plaines.
  10. Too bad...
  11. Can never have enough TEs right? Butt was awesome at Michigan and was likely going to be a 2nd round pick before he tore his ACL, which caused major complications for 3 seasons. Worth a flyer I think. Given how long he's been rehabbing its not super likely he'll be the same player he was at Michigan but if he is its a big steal.
  12. Even if we finish this off man what a horrible last 5 days offensively. 2,2,2,3,2 runs last 5 games
  13. Am I right in assuming that they would only consider doing this if they had the stadium at least partially publicly financed? I would love to see the Ricketts family flip their horsefeathers if the Bears got public money for their stadium 20 years after the public paid for the Soldier Field renovations while PTR couldn't get a dime to fix up Wrigley.
  14. Well the Fire have a lease there now, and its still good for those large summer concerts, so they could easily keep the venue open and maybe do a remodel to make it more soccer/concert friendly. Fake Edit: Nevermind, the Fire's lease is only for 3 years so it wouldn't be difficult to boot them if they wanted to tear it down. Don’t the colonnades have landmark status? If so, they (whoever that is) will have legal trouble tearing it down. I'm pretty sure they lost that status after the renovation because of how poorly the renovation preserved those colonnades Edit: here an article about losing landmark status: https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/644198/how-national-historic-landmarks-lose-nps-status
  15. I think Chicago would take the money and run if the Bears made an offer to buy out the lease in a single lump sum payment at 75% of what remains owed between now and 2033. The only question would be what Chicago does with Soldier Field if the Bears leave.
  16. https://theathletic.com/2654454/2021/06/16/bears-minicamp-notebook-andy-dalton-connects-deep-eddie-goldman-sits-out-more/ Interesting blurb about Goldman particularly because he opted out of last year and now isnt showing up for mandatory training camp. Something to look out for as we get closer to the season. We can really use a healthy and productive Goldman next year.
  17. So the Park District is likely to force them to stick to their 2033 lease, will be interesting to see their reaction if they actually do complete this purchase. But outside of the lease, what else can the city do to keep them in Chicago? I can't see there being another viable site outside of like the edge of town where a giant stadium would fit, so they would have to commit to funds to rebuild Soldier Field from ground up if they wanted to keep the Bears. Even then, my guess is the Bears want to own their stadium and not lease it from the Park District.
  18. Holy horsefeathers
  19. Boo-urns
  20. During this current 26-14 run the Cubs are 16-3 at home and 10-11 on the road. Honestly expected worse. They do have road series wins against the Cardinals and Padres and a 3 game sweep against the Pirates who suck but anytime you can sweep a road series it’s good. But yeah 3-9 against good road teams in that stretch (Indians, Giants, Padres, Mets). 5-10 if you want to call the Cardinals good
  21. Not including tonight, the Cubs batting line in the month of June (14 games): .199/.254/.406/.660 Not sure how much better that’s gonna get with the Marlins, Indians, Dodgers and Brewers in our next 4 series
  22. I feel like Ross punted on this game before it started so he wasn’t paying too much attention.
  23. Mets bullpen warming and deGrom isn’t in the dugout. If deGrom is seriously hurt because the Mets had to have him for a June start against the Cubs, that’s pathetic.
  24. https://twitter.com/theaceofspaeder/status/1405192300276355073?s=20 Somewhat long thread pointing out all the non-Astros cheating that was going around. He made it seem like this big revelation but none of this surprises me at all.
