  1. Ugh dammit Joc
  2. Do you have a better backup catcher idea?
  3. I’m sure the offense will start hitting again after we’re 7 games out
  4. One of those super predictable Javy at bats with the bases loaded and the crowd amped up. He guessed on all 3 pitches and sold out for a HR on 2 of them then guessed a ball and took strike 3
  5. When your only good starter gets shelled…
  6. Looks like 2 runs will not cut it today. 1st inning Kyle is back
  7. We’ll see. They aren’t allowed to travel with the Cubs traveling party because they aren’t at 85% vaccinated so the Cubs would have to pay for them to travel on their own probably. PTR won’t approve
  8. Yeah I read somewhere that the tv and radio guys were allowed to take a bus up to Milwaukee to be there in person In 2 PA, the Cubs were able score as many runs as they had in 11 of their last 14 games.
  9. I've thought about this since reading his GQ article last week. Scottie in the past has been pretty guarded in what he says, but has been known to let something slip every once in awhile that is along the lines of the things he's saying. Doubling down on calling Phil a racist is pretty bizarre, but the rest of the stuff he's said does not surprise me, it only surprises me that his filter is off. Then I remembered that Scottie's son died literally 2 months ago. I wonder if that has anything to do with it...the man has to be grieving, and people do unusual things while they grieve.
  10. Is the board really not going to discuss this Blackhawks sexual assault thing? It's extremely disappointing to hear about all of this and puts a dark cloud over their 3 cups IMO.
  11. Because I’m a glutton for punishment. First 12 games of the season: .163/.254/.307/.561 Next 32 games: .269/.350/.450/.800 Last 34 games: .199/.266/.379/.645
  12. It’s crazy though. I’ve seen some bad Cubs teams before. I’ve seen plenty of cubs offenses that lack talent. I’ve never seen anything like this Cubs core the last few years that goes on multiple stretches per year where they go into a complete team wide unrelenting tailspin. Like even in the game they scored 7 runs, they faced a starter with an ERA over 10 and had 1 baserunner through 5 innings of that game before the floodgates somewhat opened up. Last years Cubs team started the season on fire offensively then went into a 2 month tailspin that continued into the playoffs. This years team had a historically awful first 3 weeks, then scored the most runs in baseball over a 5 week stretch and then is back to being near historically awful. I’ve never seen anything like it.
  13. 2 2 2 3 2 2 1 2 0 7 4 2 2 1 11th time in 14 games scoring 2 runs or less. In the other games they scored 3, 4 and 7. That’s….really bad
  14. If anyone is still following, I guess Rizzo left the game with back issues so I wouldn’t expect to see him play in the Brewers series. When it rains it pours
  15. The Cubs are in the middle of a stretch where they play 21 Road games and 8 home games and 23 of the 29 games against above .500 teams. Those road games involved them going to the west coast and then the next weekend on the east coast and then the weekend after that back on the west coast. How many off days do they have with all that traveling? 2 Tonight the Cubs play on the west coast and then have to travel to Milwaukee for a game tomorrow. It’s not a big reason why the Cubs aren’t good right now but it’s certainly not helping After this road trip they will have 42 home games left and just 33 road games. Their next 30 games after the Milwaukee series will be against teams at or below .500 and 62 of the final 78 against at or below .500 teams. (7 vs MIL, 6 vs CWS, 3 vs SF). 10 of those 16 above .500 games will be at Wrigley. Maybe I’m just saying all this to make me feel better about a flawed team but whatever. This has been an extremely difficult stretch while our chief division rivals are playing AAAA teams. There’s hope even if there are clear issues with the team
  16. And if they are 8.5 down in a month that’s probably the right decision. If they continue to play like they can win the NL Central they have 85 games to surpass the Brewers
  17. If we lose tomorrow and take 2/3 in Milwaukee I’m fine with it. If we win tomorrow and take 1/3 I’m also fine with it. But the Brewers have their top arms going and the Cubs only have 1 somewhat reliable starter so it’s going to be a tough series. Still only June so just gotta hope you don’t fall more than 5-6 games back and then hope that the Cubs marginally better schedule than the Brewers* the rest of the year is enough to overtake them. Worse case scenario is they hang in long enough to not sell, but then fade and watch the big 3 walk for nothing (besides draft picks) in the winter *read somewhere the Brewers have the 4th easiest schedule the rest of the season while the Cubs have the easiest. Kind of sucks because the Cubs have been playing the best teams in baseball for a majority of the last month while the Brewers have played ~18 games against the Diamondbacks, Rockies and Pirates. You’d think there would be a bigger gap Crazy thing is, the average Cubs opponent over the last 28 games (inc tomorrow) is a 91-71 team and the Cubs have gone 15-12 against them. The Brewers average opponent over the last 28 games is a 65-97 team and the Brewers have gone 18-9 against them. Only 3 games better with an incredibly easier schedule
  18. The whole Patrick Wisdom thing was fun but he looks like he became obsessed with homering on every swing.
  19. Yeah I’m more confused than I am angry (still angry though). It doesn’t make sense that Joe Buck actually comments that the ball disappears behind the foul pole and no one seems to believe that this means it’s a home run.
  20. I’m really confused. That FOX reply clearly showed the ball disappear behind the foul pole. How did the umps not see that? Did my eyes deceive me
  21. Brewers crushed the hapless Rockies, not the it’s healthy or necessary to scoreboard watch in June, especially with lopsided matchups like that.
  22. Hate the bunt there. 1st and 2nd, 0 outs down by 1 in the 7th and 9-1-2 coming up. Now the inning relies on Joc putting one in play or Bryant getting a 2 out hit. Let’s see how it plays out… Edit: and Joc put one in play, nice job!
