Tonight will be super interesting. We've seen some of these offensive gurus who are able to keep the offense mostly running with backups starting. Keenum is (very) old but has had success as a starter in the league and has been with the Bears the entirety of Ben's tenure. Ben Johnson is enough of a psycho to have a break in case of emergency offense ready to go in the event Keenum starts. I don't expect an overwhelmed backup trying to fit their skillset into an offense not built for them, but at the same time if the defense is bad, he's gonna be in a position where he needs to be near perfect to keep up. Also interested to see adjustments by the Eagles defense after getting gashed badly on the ground last year. No doubt the Bears will want to run the offense through the run game again but the Eagles are going to stack the box and dare the Bears to beat them in the air. I think this would be a good game to get the TEs more involved on short routes that will force the defense to stay honest.

Honestly, I'd consider sending multiple players to San Diego tomorrow, particularly their likely choice to start game 1 and maybe 1-2 position players and/or relievers. If we run out of players Carson Kelly can pitch and play LF at the same time or whatever. -
The Padres move into a tie for 2nd most playoff series against the Cubs. Dodgers have also played the Cubs 3 times (all between 2008 and 2017). The most is the Tigers who have played the Cubs 4 times, all prior to the 1950s.

So assuming the Rays dont blow their lead, we're looking at 2 scenarios here: -Padres win makes the final game completely meaningless and we can rest up players and needed arms -Padres loss makes playing the series at Wrigley still possible, though maybe a 35% shot as they'll need a win and Padres loss Either of those scenarios is fine by me. I'd rather not go to SD, but knowing now can give us a little advantage given the additional off day today. -
I hate how boring college football is these days until the night games unless you get lucky and Big Noon grabs a marquee game. When it's Illinois/Ohio State, there's really not a ton of interesting games for me. Texas/Tennessee is somewhat interesting but outside of that, meh.

I'd be more ok with it if the first round was either best of 5 or best of 3 with 1 game at the road teams park, but obviously there is time concerns. 12/30 is just too much for me. I'd like the NFL to go back to 12 teams as well, and the NHL and NBA would be better off without 16 teams making it also. And while we're at it, the CFP should be 8 teams max. The NCAA Tournament I'm cool with at 64 teams, 68 is ok but expanding behind that is awful. More playoff games isn't necessarily better IMO. It feels like a watered down mess to me now.

I mean that team won 89 games. We’d be in the same exact boat as the 2004 team if the playoff format was the same. Come into the last 2 weeks with a lead and watch it slowly trickle away with close losses to bad or disinterested teams.

The 12 team playoff era is stupid. We're potentially about to see our first sub-.500 playoff team and they have a decent shot at the ALCS because their potential opponents in the first 2 rounds are 5 and 6 games over .500 Then you have the Cubs and Phillies battling it out to see who can lose the most down the stretch and still make the playoffs. Too many flawed teams now, go back to 4 teams a league

The Padres are 49-29 at home and 40-41 on the road. Obviously anything can happen in a 2-3 game sample and the Cubs did win a series there earlier this year but the road gets a lot tougher

Also I'm pretty sure they start the latest games at 8pm CT. It's usually like 1pm, 3pm, 6pm, 8pm or something like that So if we play Atlanta it will probably be like 1pm: White Sox/Guardians at Astros 3pm: Cubs at Braves 6pm: Red Sox at Yankees 8pm: Phillies at Padres If we play San Diego (in SD) looking at: 1pm: White Sox/Guardians at Astros 3pm: Phillies at Braves 6pm: Red Sox at Yankees 8pm: Cubs at Padres If we play in Chicago, it might still be 8pm as the other 2 games are hosted by EST teams, so it would either be the Astros series or the Cubs series

No but they'll probably in the afternoon on a workday which I can't stand. Red Sox-Yankees will obviously get the 6pm games, and San Diego will get the late games. Then the Cubs will either play at 1 or 3pm

If we go 2-0 and Padres 1-2, we play in Chicago. If we go 2-0, the Padres 2-1, we play in San Diego If we go 1-1, and the Padres 0-3, we play in Chicago otherwise San Diego unless the Phillies sweep this weekend, then we play in Atlanta If we go 0-2, the Phillies just need to go 2-1 to pass the Cubs and force us to Atlanta.
