  1. So much for signing as soon as FA opens
  2. Cant wait to see this at the end of Michigan's schedule @ Rutgers @ UCLA vs. Ohio State
  3. Agreed, but I think it will just be 2 super conferences. This is a seismic move for college football, probably bigger than OU and Texas just because it gives us a second super conference
  4. What the hell? lol If so, welcome Raisin! Edit: I see this was posted in the CFB offseason thread right before this but I think its noteworthy enough news that will lead to more realignment that its worth its own thread, but mods can delete if they'd like
  5. What upsets me is that the rumors are that the Bulls wont use the full MLE because it would take them over the luxury tax. If you remember, they gave Tristan Thompson the full bi-annual exemption during the season which prevented them from being able to use it this summer, which also screams luxury tax avoidance. Despite the highest ticket prices and constantly high attendance, JR is still fine with having a middle of the road payroll (sound familiar?) I'm not saying they need to go into the tax just to go into the tax but if we lose a target because they won't slightly go into the tax, that's a problem. It's possible they want to avoid the repeater tax and plan on going all in next summer with Vuc's contract off the books I guess.
  6. Not sure if he’s actually making adjustments but Morel is coming out of his swan dive. Great to see
  7. I mean he should be barred from being an agent if that’s true. That’s negligence regardless but especially if the player was wanting to sign/stay somewhere and he never was told about an offer and guided to a different spot. What would be Close’s motivation for doing this? Some sort of collusion with LA? The two offers were pretty similar (I’ve heard when factoring in taxes, Atlanta’s was more) so it’s not like he’d get some sort of huge bump in commission for the deal. Yeah maybe getting kickbacks from the Dodgers for steering him that way?
  8. https://twitter.com/GottliebShow/status/1542255823769833472 If true holy crap.
  9. I forgot how many teams Farnsworth was on after leaving the Cubs. I always pictured him as mostly a Cub except for the last couple years but he actually played 10 seasons after leaving Chicago and played for the Tigers, Braves, Yankees, Royals, Rays, Pirates, Mets and Astros.
  10. 9-9 against the Brewers (5-5) and Cardinals (4-4) 7-11 against the Pirates (5-8) and Reds (2-3)
  11. Why the heck did Keegan come out for the 7th after struggling through the 6th?
  12. I have no idea what this podcast is but they interviewed David Ross and actually got some quotes from him about why Heyward plays all the time.
  13. Oh I agree, I was trying to tee up mockery with the fewest possible page views on his end. Damn it, I clicked before reading your recap. I wanted to slap him within a couple of paragraphs. One of my favorite parts is that he ends the article with a highlight of Sam Fuld making a diving catch as if that has anything to do with the point he's making with the article. Like wtf?
  14. Posting so jersey doesn't feel like he's talking to himself in this thread. Seems like a solid hire but the Blackhawks are so so far away from anything resembling competency that its hard to care, especially because I'm already sick of following the Cubs and Bears rebuilds.
  15. Not feeling super confident about Lonzo's knee for next season.... AK also mentioned continuity several times including when asked if Vuc is going to be the starting C next year. Could just be posturing but it seems like they really do want to run it back with a few changes in FA. He mentioned wanting size in FA, which is absolutely a need. But I would argue shooting is just as much of a need even if Lonzo and Zach are back.
  16. That's why I posted it though, to mock Al Yellon because he's endlessly mockable.
  17. Willson is going to be interesting. Like you pointed out, he's always been considered a tier below players like Bryant and the whole trading for catchers thing. In additional several contenders have solid options in place and probably aren't looking to add someone like Contreras. Toronto - Kirk Yankees - Trevino Braves - d'Arnaud and William C Dodgers - Will Smith Brewers - Caratini is having a solid year But I guess all it takes is one team that desperately needs a catcher to bite on Willson's career year.
  18. In 2014, Al Yellon wrote a letter suggesting that Theo Epstein should be fired. After being mocked endlessly, the Cubs went on to win the World Series in 2016. Now... Cubs 2024 World Series champs incoming! Among his arguments for firing Jed, he mentions the Cubs being forced to take BP on a day when it was 97 degrees out lol
  19. The Cubs suck but I'll always be happy with winning a series St. Louis Also the Cubs are going to be spectacularly terrible when Contreras is gone.
  20. David Ross probably isn’t a good manager
  21. You never know what you’re gonna get with Hendricks these days. You could get a 5 IP, 6 ER performance or a 7 IP, 0 ER gem
  22. Thank goodness for Apple TV making the barrier to watch games slightly more difficult which will remove any likelihood that my kids will want me to put on the game. David Bote has been added to the active roster so now we get to watch both of the young players that Theo and Jed managed to extend tonight as Hendricks is starting.
  23. Another Bears FA signing got in trouble with the law before playing a game with the Bears
