  1. I have a feeling that due to his unique talents and the fact that he's basically the face of baseball right now, some team is going to throw an offer out there that defies all logic *coughCohencough*.
  2. Not Jed's kind of signing, though if he ever makes exceptions I'm sure a talent like Ohtani is one of them. I could see Tom seeing the massive appeal of having the biggest star in baseball on his team and nudging Jed to push hard for him, but I just have a hard time seeing us outbidding probably every other big market club for his services.
  3. Trout due up 3rd down 1 run in the 9th against Ohtani. Amazing drama
  4. horsefeathers the Cardinals
  5. What a great tournament and now a massive USA-Japan matchup for all the marbles.
  6. I'm here for it
  7. Bulls are kings of the second OT. They finally beat Embiid for the first time in his career. Dammit they’re pulling me back in wtf
  8. Sounds like they are planning on tweaking the rules around the pitch clock before Opening Day
  9. I was just thinking about how I have serious doubts that Poles would have made that trade-up for Fields if he was in charge and the situation was the same. I'll take how it played out.
  10. Not sure if this is related to the King article or something completely different but here's another Poles interview talking about his strategy and how he communicated his plans to Justin Fields. https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/03/20/ryan-poles-never-told-justin-fields-he-was-the-starting-qb?utm_source=reddit.com This quote caught my attention: Shots fired!
  11. Yeah, sounds like Poles believes he could have gotten a 2024 FRP from Houston and potentially some additional picks this year. But I think the package from Carolina lessens a decent amount from 1 to 2. And I'm guessing that meant no DJ Moore or possibly no 2025 2nd round pick. The 49ers gave up 2 future 1sts and a future 3rd to move from 12 to 3. And they may have paid a premium with Miami assuming they'd be a playoff team in 2022 (which that picked turned out to be 28th, no chance Carolina's is that late). So, even with a similar deal you're looking at: 9th pick, 2023 3rd from Carolina, 2024 1st from Houston, 2024 1st from Carolina, 2025 1st from Carolina vs 9th pick, 2023 2nd from Carolina, 2024 1st from Carolina, 2025 2nd from Carolina, DJ Moore Of course, the Houston deal could have included another 2023 pick as well. Obviously, that Houston pick next year looks very enticing, but I think it's a huge assumption they would have given up a future 1st. And if they would have, it wouldn't have been much more than that. So basically, it comes down to DJ Moore and 2025 1st for a 2024 1st and a 2025 2nd + the proverbial "bird in the hand". Houston could have changed their minds. Carolina could have changed there's or the package. It's obviously a fine deal, which I'm sure Bears fans will completely be rational about when reading the article. I know what Poles said but I have a hard time Houston would really offer their 1st next year to move up a spot. But what do I know? I'm happy with what we got as others have said, and the ability to get it done before FA was helpful.
  12. Yeah I was surprised to see him as a lock with Madrigal a begrudgingly added final IF. I would have guessed the other way around. I try not to pay much attention to Spring Training for whatever reason so maybe McKinstry is raking Fake edit: Oh, no he's 2-29 with a .275 OPS after having a somewhat extended look last year with a .633 OPS. Versatility is nice but the dude has shown nothing with the bat. If he's a lock we're gonna have some issues with depth this year.
  13. Damn that sucks! Predictably it also allowed TCU to cover as the spread was 4.5.
  14. Would be great to have revenge on Mexico for the loss in pool play, but a game against Japan would be really damn fun. Anyone know who is lined up to potentially start for Japan?
  15. Except for the inevitable 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER performances against the Cubs
  16. Cardinal hits a home run off a Cub and I’m cheering. Weird.
  17. Definitely a lot of pitching death with this organization. Not as much as cardinals though I don’t regret my typo
  18. Seems sub-optimal. Seems like we have a lot of pitching death so not devastating if he can’t get it going but he was so useful in the multi-inning relief role last year
  19. Do you happen to have a video I can watch? Find your own wanking material lol As much as you hate Michigan I doubt you want to watch NIT highlights but I want people to understand how stupid this was so I’ll take a chance. Starts at 22:00 with Hunter missing a point blank layup
  20. Yeah that was incredible
  21. No one should care because its the NIT but after losing 6 other games with an 80%+ chance of winning in the 2nd half this year, Michigan managed to save their best for last. Up 8, with the ball, 1:06 left and their best player with the ball in his hands under the basket with a clean look, and they managed to lose in regulation. Vanderbilt didn't hit any 3 pointers. Michigan didn't shoot (and miss) any FTs. They just turned the ball over 4 straight times leading to easy baskets (and a FT). 97.7% chance of winning and they lost it. Good times
  22. On one hand Puerto Rico is the funnest team in the tournament. On the other hand Yadi doesn’t get to coach his country to a championship
