  1. Ugh couple of crappy singles and the cardinals lead
  2. Based on what Twitter is saying during lineup introductions, expect heavy booing of Willson when he comes to the plate.
  3. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind he gets a standing ovation: 1) He won a world series with the Cubs, and had one of the bigger hits during that run. He was a part of 3 other playoff Cubs teams too. 2) He had nothing but praise for the Cubs, Cubs fans, etc for his entire 7 year career here. He brought passion and energy to the game and acted like a leader the previous 2 seasons when the Cubs were bad and had a lot of young players. 3) The Cubs made no attempt to resign him at all. He was forced out in a way by Cubs management so he's under no obligation to not sign with their arch rival....if anything this may have drawn him to the Cardinals 4) A couple of comments to endear himself to his new fanbase do not erase 7 years of nothing but love for Cubs fans. I would have liked it if he approached it differently, but I'm not going to boo him because of it. For all those reasons, he deserves a standing ovation tonight and I'm sad that he might be booed. But either way I hope he goes 0-5 with 5 strikeouts.
  4. They were probably feeling desperate after striking out on several other catching options. Doesn’t mean it makes sense though.
  5. very confused about why they would specifically request not playing the Bears in Germany. I guess Chicago is a big city team so there may be a draw there but the chiefs are going to sell out regardless of who they play.
  6. The Cubs won a series but probably should have swept. The Cardinals have always sucked but now they suck on the baseball field to match their general suckiness. Miles Mikolas was good at one point but he doesn’t seem that good anymore. Blame me if Mikolas throws a 3 hit shutout and the Cubs get swept Go Cubs!
  7. It was the first game they sac bunted in at least, the marquee broadcast said they had 0 coming into the game.
  8. I’ll try to get one up tonight, thanks for the reminder
  9. Shut up with your stats and logic lol. I swear someone posted here or on Twitter that the Cubs had the lowest overall BA with RISP over a 20 year period or something. I couldn’t find that but I did find this about this years team: https://twitter.com/joeyknowsnothin/status/1654932302521139201?s=46&t=0_jG0mfAmSwG-21Uluk7Vw not sure why it’s not embedding but it basically says the numbers drop off considerably in medium and high leverage situations (76 wRC+ - 26th in baseball) But small sample size and no way to prove clutch is some controllable attribute.
  10. Another 1 run loss. Imagine if we were 3-3 in one run games over the last 2 weeks instead of 0-6. Team feels a lot different at 20-14 instead of 17-17. 3-4 hits away from things looking much better
  11. And yet we’ve been bad at it for 20 years lol. That’s some variance. The 2016 Cubs had the best BA with RISP that I can remember and they were like 18th in the league. illogical rant of course because every single variable possible has changed over the last 20 years so unless there’s some spirit controlling our ability to hit in the clutch it’s just multiple decades long bad luck
  12. Disappointing loss. I don’t know how you get better at hitting with RISP but they need to figure that horsefeathers out
  13. Walkoff Madrigal homer would be one of the most bizarre endings ever
  14. Mervis must be wondering if he’s gonna have to face lefties 70% of the time in the majors
  15. The way that AB was going it feels like it was going to end with that runner coming home regardless. Can’t prove it but I’ll choose to believe that to make me feel better lol
  16. 12 straight Marlins retired but the team still manages to score 2 runs over that span. Unreal rule Manfred
  17. The Marlins haven’t had a hitter reach since the first batter of the 10th inning but they’ve scored twice since then
  18. Maybe those big lumbering oafs should end the game in the previous innings lol
  19. 2nd time Arraez has led off an extra inning. Not gonna stop him from moving the runner over twice
  20. Ok I just counted it looks like they have 6 left handed pitchers in their pen. How can you survive with 6 lefties lol
  21. How many horsefeathering left handed pitchers do they have in the pen? Every inning another one comes in the game.
