  1. To settle the argument once and for all.... Neifi - 13 ARam - 13 Burnitz - 10 Lawton - 9 Walker - 8 Lee - 7 Barrett - 6 Macais - 6 Hollandsworth - 4 Blanco - 4 Hairston - 4 Patterson - 3 Cedeno - 3 Maddux - 3 Nomar - 2 Zambrano - 2 Rusch - 2 Murton - 2 As a team, the Cubs have grounded into 96 double plays, good for 14th in the league
  2. He's not even in the top 40. Neifi is first on the team and 21st in the league with 13. Actually, since I'm sure these stats are updated daily, Aramis just grounded into his 13th and tied Neifi. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting?split=0&league=mlb&season=2005&seasonType=2&sort=GIDPs&type=exp&ageMin=17&ageMax=51&state=0&college=0&country=0&hand=a&pos=all
  3. ESPN: "He'll have to hurry to turn two" Apparently, they haven't seen that Aramis doesn't have to run out ground balls hard because of his injuries.
  4. So far Nomar's ankle, shoulder, wrist, groin and back have kept him from playing games for the Cubs since he joined the team...
  5. I think this deserves its own thread. They are down 5-0 to the Mariners in the 4th inning and are on their way to their 18th straight loss. Can they break the '88 Orioles record of 22? This team looks godawful right now, almost as bad as the Cubs have looked at stretches this year.
  6. I don't like his negative attitude towards closing. I applaud him for accepting a move to the bullpen to help the team this year, but overall whenever asked about it, it seems like he has a gun to his head forcing him to pitch relief. That said, he would make a great closer next year if the first 7 innings this year are any indication.
  7. 5.5 in 41 games is doable, 7.5 in 41 seems a lot harder. This game will determine if there is worthwhile baseball to watch on the Northside for the next 6 weeks
  8. You know, I don't know why the immediate neighborhood would be opposed to night games. Seems to me like more night games would = more money. Of course everyone not in a rooftop or a bar would probably care less.
  9. Yup, I never understood why a player has to play because they are making a lot of money. Doesn't make any sense to me...
  10. Sox now 17-17 in their last 34 games. Not exactly as bad as the Cubs have been at times recently, but not exactly storming into September either....
  11. From the game notes of todays' game: Weiiiird
  12. Not sure if Dusty understands the importance of these games. I would think if you were going to rest Walker, do it this weekend against Colorado....oh well Edit: Blanco to catch Maddux was a pretty good call though
  13. I believe he had a good week immediately following the beaning.....then he took a turn down. If that is the case, you cannot attribute the slump to Torres. Yup and of course it had nothing to do with Palmeiro candy
  14. If Nomar has a good September, you can bet with the weak FA market there will be a team willing to overpay.
  15. ESPN: NL MVP Candidate Albert Pujols is in Chicago to take on the Cubs at Wrigley No love for DLee since his slide?
  16. You gotta remain optimistic. Although it doesnt even seem like the team is at this point. If you turn pessimistic now and give up hope, baseball is no longer going to be fun this summer with the Sox and Cards in first place fighting for the best record in baseball...
  17. Is there anything more tenseful then MLB Gamedays "In play, no out(s) recorded"
  18. This is the Cubs offense I remember. Still early though.
  19. Aren't you in Chicago? You go to DePaul, right? Or did you go back home for the summer? I went home to NH for a couple of weeks. I figured when the Cubs started tanking I could afford to miss a few weeks. But now I miss watching the games.
  20. yes, yes it its. It's very quiet in here. Shhhhhh Sounds like they might keep you with the Braves/D'Backs game once the Cubs game starts, Der... How much longer is the FOX contract with MLB? Their Saturday games of the week are so frigging awful. Yep, didn't send me to Chicago. GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! They didn't send me either! Can someone confirm they've been "sent?" Otherwise I wanna MLB.tv this. They made an announcement that they were sending it to Buck and McCarver, then they paused and if you werent sent over they continued doing the Braves/DBacks game. MLB.tv wont work until like 6PM CST
  21. Shows that will be on my local Fox affiliate instead of the game: Newsradio, Stargate SG1, Newsradio again, King of the Hill
  22. Drats they are sending them over now :(:(:(:(
  23. If the game gets in, I doubt my local Fox coverage (New Hampshire) will pick it up :( Oh well, I'll watch the Cubs go for the sweep on ESPN tomorrow
