I think the only person that can compete with Murton for POY is Eric Patterson. As has been stated many times, the league Patterson is in compares to the NCAA league he played in with Georgia Tech. He had a tremendous year, but Murton's year relative to the league he has paid in gives him my vote.
Lawton started in Right and hit 8th for the Yankees. He walked in his first AB. BTW, how low does everyone think Corey can get his average before the end of the season??
This move is probably like the Greenberg move in July. He is probably getting rewarded for a good season at AAA. Don't worry, the youngins will be up in 5 days.
I like the fact that they are going to get rid of some useless vets and try to get the rooks some playing time, but Dubois for Yankees PTBNL....I don't like that one bit. At least Jim Hendry can still use Dubois as one of the farm products the Cubs have produced
You're not going to have much range with a bad back and groin. For errors, range is usually not the issue. It's what you do with the ball after you are in position to receive it that is the problem.
Yeah i mean Lawton he just has no eye at the plate whatsoever. This is a bogus criticism. Is he supposed to be perfect. Whatta joke. Well no, obviously even the best players make mistakes all the time. Obviously a good hitter will do the right thing only 30% of the time.
http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=gillette_gary&id=2143044 Wow, he actually goes in and finds each fundamental error the Braves and Cubs (mostly Cubs) make. Sorry, insider only, but worth the read. Here's an exerpt:
He is? I guess I haven't seen that. He's been an OF this year because that's where our biggest need for him has been, not second base. I don't understand where you're going with that or why you're complaining that he's been used in our awful outfield. Before he was moved to OF everyone was wondering if he could play OF because he was out of place. Now it seems like that's the only spot Dusty will play him...
Has anyone actually seen Todd Walker's splits against Lefties? Because he is doing MUCH MUCH better against Lefties... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/splits?playerId=3539 .287/.341/.422/.763 against righties in 237 AB .357/.392/.629/1.020 against lefties in 70 AB
OK this is uber-bizarre. So the lineup is possibly: Hairston, CF Lawton, LF Lee, 1B Burnitz, RF Nomar, 3B Barrett, C Perez, 2B Cedeno, SS Or maybe Hairston Lawton Nomar Lee Burnitz Barrett Perez Cedeno
