    Yeah what is up with that defense lately? Honestly, I didn't expect the Cubs to sweep the Rockies. They are around a .500 team at home, and with Nomar out most of the series, I expected the offense to suffer a bit. But losing with scenarios in the 8th is brutal. Bases loaded 1 out, and they put the least likely person to hit a ball into the OF in there to hit. I understand if they can't PH Nomar because he can't play D yet, and you'd rather have Neifi's D in for the 9th inning. What are your other choices at SS if you PH? Macais is PR, Hairston can't play SS for some reason, Nomar is hurt. These are reasons why players like Neifi shouldn't be on the team. Oh and Corey....don't even get me started. Bottom line, if the Cubs win 2 out of 3 every series, and 3 of 4 every 4 game series, they should still end up with about 88 wins. Expecting to sweep any series on the road is setting yourself up for failure. Let's hope we can get the series win today

    Rusch is auditioning for closer next year by getting into trouble every inning. The only problem is, sometimes he is not getting out of it.

    Corey gets criticized for blowing it every single game. I guarentee he'll blow it again tonight. If he doesen't, I'll put "CaliforniaRaisen is God" in my sig. Who should we blame besides the .230 hitting Centerfielder? :)

    If I'm adding this up correctly, if scores stay the same, the worst we can do is lose 1/2 a game. I guess thats a good thing

    Are you sure he was trying to go 3 1/3 innings cause he sure had trouble getting the first out in the 4th :)

    I still don't see the Wild Card winner winning 90 games, unless Florida actually plays consistant and runs away with it. I see 87 wins or so taking it, meaning the Cubs need to go 27-13. Still don't see that happening unless Glendon and Maddux are very good down the stetch. But let's take it game by game and hope everything works out.

You'd be amazed what you can do with a good database program !! :wink: edit:... not only that..... CUBS are 15-10 when the temperature is 85 degrees or above Outstanding. Great work, Fred. Remind me to hire you when I finally get my dream job of Cubs play-by-play broadcaster. You've got some of the best filler I've ever seen. He'd be like the guy from Little Big League.     You know whats funny about this. Dusty said something in the papers to the effect of he can't always play the rookies because they are expected to be prepared to play baseball and not make rookie mistakes. He can't give them on the job training in the middle of a playoff race. Yet even the veterans and Dusty himself continually make dumb mistakes. Oh well...this series kinda seemed like a trap series to me anyways.

    ^^ Well at times its hard to give Maddux the benefit of the doubt that he 'placed' the ball on the outside corner on purpose when 2 batters earlier he 'placed' a ball high in the zone that was hit onto Waveland. BTW, why is this in Rivalries?

    It must have something to do with his gameday routine being disrupted for day games. Or maybe he's just not a morning person. Who knows. There is so logical reasoning I can think of to why someone's D/N splits are that extreme. Mind boggling... Theres one guy I can live without having on the Cubs :)

    I really hope Dusty puts in Woody regardless of who is coming up.

    At this point, in situations like this I root for the team that I think has less of a chance of winning it. I still don't see the Nationals winning this thing, although the fact that they were able to somewhat right their ship is admirable. That said, it would be nice to say we are 5.5 out tonight, but if we are 6 back and Philly gets a loss, I think thats the best for us. LOL, anyone see Everett go for a quick throw to first, and then see slow Aramis running down the line and make an easy toss for the out??
