  1. Guzman is injured still right?
  2. Whats the new rotation? Zambrano Maddux Prior (for now) Hill Pray for rain?
  3. It would likely be better to make threads listing players who ARENT injured.
  4. Doesn't look like much. Is Joel related to Ron Santo? We didn't give up much. He didn't pitch well and will be a free agent at the end of the year. Not going to get much for him. Hendry said Williamson was highly sought after and he was not going to give away players without getting quality in return. Plus you saw what the Reds gave up for relief help. The contenders should be DESPERATE for help. The Cubs had all the leverage in this situation and they didnt get crap for him. Good job Jimbo
  5. That leaves Prior, Wood, Marshall, Eyre, and Lee as the list of wounded
  6. I guess changing uniforms didn't hurt Kearn's Cub killing status
  7. I don't like Lou Piniella based off of his comments so far. He used the fun old "innings eater" comment to describe the value of 5.80+ ERA pitcher Livan Hernandez. Then he said that Pierre started slow because of the weather and heated up as the weather got warmer. Yet I remember Pierre's average toiling in the .220s durring the hot days of June. Now he just called Wrigley a friendly HR park
  8. Remember when the Cubs were hot after Soriano last year, and no one wanted him (largely because of his OBP and K totals)
  9. Dammit, look at Ramirez stare at that ball and then lollygag to first. Run it out ARam! Oh by the way, welcome to 2006 Aramis. The Cubs are 37-57 and you've sleptwalked through the first 3.5 months of the season.
  10. Is it just me or does Prior look like hes lost 10-15 LBs since his heyday?
  11. Anyone know officially whose going down? It will likely be Theriot, but I'd send Novoa down for his stinkfest the other day
  12. There is only so much preaching you can do. Neifi is never going to be the kind of player that takes walks. The key is not in coaching, its in personal. The ability to select a pitch, take close pitches and draw walks seems more of a skill then something that is taught (to an extent). Look at a hitter like Frank Thomas, whose BA has fluctuated his entire career. In that time period, his ISO OBP has remained relatively consistant. He doesn't have a year where he randomly hits .260 with a .306 OBP. He consistantly has a OBP thats over 100 points or more higher then his BA.
  13. Weren't one of the coaches stretching his legs for him? He wasn't in the game, so I don't see a huge deal with this, but yeah still kinda weird.
  14. The Cubs actually played halfway decent this series. I guess now that my expectations have been dwindled down to nothing, I can look at series in a different light. Positives: -Took 2/3 from Oswalt, Clemens, Pettite -Beat a lefty -Dempster had 2 saves, no ERs -Pitching was great all around -We saw some power -THREE WALKS IN ONE INNING DIRECTLY LEADS TO A RUN AND PUTS FOOT IN DUSTYS MOUTH Negatives: -Pettite sucks, big whoop that we beat him -Clemens is 2-3 with his 2 wins against the Cubs -Offense was far from great, just timely -Z threw 5604 pitches, Dusty didn't care Oh well, you have to start somewhere right? Let's keep this thread positive despite me pointing out the negatives in the series. I think we can start moving up from here. I think I've dealt all the pain of this season and can accept the fact that we are among the bottom 5 teams in baseball. Let's just play not so frustrating baseball, and enjoy the sport for what it is....awesome.
  15. lol, Santo left for a doctor's appt in the middle of the game and won't be back for a week.
  16. Lineup per ESPN1000 Slappy, CF Perez, SS Barrett, C Ramirez, 3B Nevin, 1B Murton, LF Jones, RF Theriot, 2B Z, P Looks like Lee is resting his wrist for the 3rd time in 6 days....
  17. Wendell Kim the new 3B coach http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-060719cubs-dui,1,5651210.story?coll=cs-home-headlines (ok just kidding its Triple A manager Mike Quade)
  18. Lets trade him even though we have a 1B and 3B. We just need more good players....blah
  19. Jones better hit a HR to make up for his shoddy play in right
