    My question is who is going to pitch for the WS NEXT year. Trading for the usual suspects (many of whom are free agents to be) won't do much good if you don't have the pitching to compete. Don't forget Dye will be leaving after 2007 and Thome is getting older and injury prone. 3-Way Deal? Sox get: Penny, Hudson, A. Jones Braves get: Garland, Fields, Loney/Kemp/Ethier Dodgers get: Aardsma, Buehrle, Braves prospect Could work out well for all involved. Not likely though. Could then try to spin Hudson or Penny for Tejada. Did you forget that Reinsdorf owns the White Sox? The Sox are cutting costs and are looking to get young and cheap players. Maybe Williams is going to go after one of the big names, but for them to add the contracts of Penny, Hudson, and A.Jones is incredible. Also, I'm sure the plan is to dump Crede's salary in the next year, so I don't think they would be getting rid of his young and cheap replacement (Fields). There is no way the Sox are trading Fields with Crede (in the form of Boras) looming

    Yeah but the Tigers signed former All Stars like Pudge and Ordonez. Neither Dotel nor Meche are sniffing an all star game in their careers IMO

    Is it? Hopefully his knees hold up. I don't think anything is a certainty with Bonds these days.

    Lets not get crazy. I don't think Griese can save us from having no Tommie in the middle, either. We get into the playoffs, where there will be good teams pounding the ball up the middle-------we're in deep crap without Harris. I think we just watched our Super Bowl dreams go down the toilet. a team capable of pounding the ball up the middle would have had success against the bears even with Harris. Maybe, but even more so without Harris, who has consistantly been drawing double teams from the O-Line all year long. Not to overreact more, but the entire D is likely to feel a ripple effect from losing Harris

    ^^ Yes but it doesn't HAVE to go down. If Hendry is smart (and he's supposed to be) he knows that he has a good deal of leverage to work with. Jones has shown that he is unhappy, but he hasn't made any 'I will not play for the Cubs' comments. Hendry does not have to get rid of Jones. Furthermore, and more importantly, with the way sluggers are going this year price wise, Jones' contract looks extremely good for the production he put up. He should be able to get those teams into a bidding war, upping his value. But who knows....Hendry has done less with more before.

    If that's the best we can get Hendry better be on the phone calling Jones and telling him to suck it up and expect to play CF in Wrigley Field next year. If Hendry makes that trade, his next move should be to resign.

    Yeah Jim is so in love with his GM job that he finalized a deal while hooked up to an EKG machine. I'm sure he's going to be convinced to step down.

I understand that its symbolic for the organizational philosophy changing, but Gil Meche? C'mon.     That was great how he took a risk on Carl Everett, then let him go and then traded for him again the next season instead of just resigning him in the first place. The Robbie Alomar trade was good too. Before 2005, it was the general consensus that he was a bad GM. But then again, before 2005 it was the general consensus that Hendry was a good one. But your right, the White Sox are going to be picking up a marquee player in this offseason. My bets are on ARod.

    I also read somewhere that Lilly's contract is backloaded. Probably about 15 million more to go for 3 players (not including Ward) Thats 1 starter, 1 (starting or backup) OF, 1 bench IF

    I want Garnett in the worst possible way, but we'd be giving up way too much in that deal. Yup, I'd pull the first round pick away for either Thomas or Deng. I am really a big fan of what Deng has done so far this year, and Thomas pretty much has shown that hes going to be a monster in 1-2 years.

    Good move, I'd rather have gotten Floyd though. I guess this is where giving 10 mil to Ted Lilly hurts the cubs with other acquisitions. If we get Floyd now, I'd be very very worried about the future of our regular OFs

    Deng needs to be getting a little more hype out there because hes playing like an All Star right now. He definitely looks like a different player then he looked his rookie year
