  1. Re: The Jennings trade Do you value Mr. BB himself Carlos Marmol anywhere near Hill? Hill is ready to go NOW. Marmol has great stuff but is still a year or two away IMO. Strangely enough I put Mateo over Marmol RIGHT NOW.
  2. Methinks if Hendry was 100% certain that Schmidt could at least put up the numbers he put up last year injury free, he'd already be signed.... but the reports about him dropping 4-5 MPH off his fastball worries me a bit. Also, if we were getting the Jason Schmidt of 2003, with his 0.98 WHIP, Hendry would have thrown him 4/80 already.
  3. Theres a chance that Whitlock heard about the rumored 4/60 last week and did not hear the Cubs deny it
  4. Sorry if it was already posted but I thought it was interesting. In other words: I painted myself into a corner and now I'm screwed. Also known as: I cannot believe that Mark Prior broke down and I'm about to give Ted Lilly $10m per. It bears asking what Zambrano is going to ask for when the time comes. I think he seems like the guy that would take a hometown discount. Sure helps that he ditched Boras as an agent.
  5. Considering how crazy the market is right now, you're not going to get a guy like Jacque Jones for $5M per year unless it's via a trade. Great point, we should be able to get a ton for him. I took the 'anywhere' quote not as JH is desperate to get rid of him for anything, but that there is a LOT of interest in Jock
  6. I feel bad a bit. I never thought our fans could actually rag on a player, no matter how sensitive he is, so badly that he is dying to leave town. Granted, I made no racial comments towards Jacque, I have more respect for my fellow man then to do any such thing, but I wasn't exactly welcoming of him.
  7. The Sox want to try get rid of Manny and sign Dice-K until they finalize the contract numbers
  8. That is interesting, also because he hasnt said much since saying how Dusty was a huge reason to come to the Cubs. Please someone watch and report
  9. Is it just me or has every winter meetings since 2000 come with a lot of hype and little action?
  10. Wow, this is certainly interesting It continues Link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/20/AR2005092002093.html
  11. It's funny that you mention that, I heard or read somewhere (I can remember where) that Church is very religious and use to openly proselytize in the clubhouse. Don't know if it is true. Maybe he'd be a better fit on the Rockies then...
  12. Me like. Not for the bench though. Kid with those numbers should be playing everyday or at least be on the positive side of a platoon. But then again if we trade Jones that just might happen.
  13. Again look at this lineup Soriano Murton Rodriguez Ramirez Lee (slot these 3 however u wish) Jones Barrett DeRosa P Jimbo if hes available, get on this
  14. Hypothetically taking Schmidt out of the location, which FA pitchers would you rather have then Lilly? Just wondering because I think Hendry will go to Marquis/Meche/etc if he doesn't get Lilly
  15. Hendry should have read this boards reaction to a possible Jones signing last offseason and not signed Jones in the first place. Then he probably would have traded Prior for Tejada+ and....well I could go on for awhile.
  16. How many games was ol' gimpy able to play last year? Kenny's not a full time player anymore. 129 games. It seems like the only CF options would be Lofton, Lugo or Pie....am I missing someone very very obvious here?
  17. If we replace Jones and his 27 HRs with Lofton and his .360 OBP, do we win or lose?
  18. Jennings was 4th in the league in walks last year. Z was first (obviously)
  19. You know whats funny...these pitchers are on the top 10 similar pitchers with Jason Jennings on Baseball Reference: 4. Marquis 5. Lilly 9. Meche http://www.baseball-reference.com/j/jennija01.shtml
  20. I don't like to give up Marmol, I think either him or Mateo was the most promising of the out of nowheres last year. But then again if we are building our rotation via FA, these guys are expendable.
  21. Steve Phillips reporting on ESPN about a rumored trade he is hearing about: To Chicago: Jennings To Colorado: Jones, Marmol, Mullholand To Pittsburgh: Hawpe
  22. As of right now, the top four seeds would be in this order: Bears, Saints, Seahawks, Cowboys. The Cowboys play the Saints Sunday, so one of those teams will take a head-to-head avantage on Sunday as well as move up a game. So with a win the Cowboys move from 3rd to 4th. Hmmm. I hope it goes Bears, Seahawks, Cowboys, Saints, Eagles, Panthers. That way, one of the teams that scare me most, Cowboys and Panthers, knock each other out, the Bears get the Saints-Eagles winner. If the Bears win that, they'll get the winner of Seahawks Cowboys/ Panthers at Soldier Field. I think that's what I hope happens. beating on the Eagles and Panthers to get to the SB would be sweet. but I have to say I would rather the Rams fluke into the final slot and Steve Smith is nowhere near Soldier Field. Let's see if the Bears can stop Big Game Torry Holt before we beg to play them
  23. Carolina has to run the table now...
