  1. he's a big groundball pitcher, almost 2.3 to 1 Not good when he's going against a FB pitcher and the wind is blowing out
  2. Interesting start to say the least. What are Malholms GB/FB stats?
  3. White Sox fans are sounding like us last year. Maybe its because I've never experienced it, but I cant see myself getting that pissed off just two years after a championship.
  4. The Cubs offense needs to get on a roll. Only 12 runs in the 4 game series vs. Washington. If we want to win this series, we are going to have to do better then 3 RPG
  5. Good, thats another month until you jump me in post count.
  6. I don't wish injury on anyone, nor do I cheer for it. I'd rather we overtake a completely healthy Brewers. Besides, knowing how well their callups have been this year, Tony Gwynn Jr will not miss a beat.
  7. If we can add payroll why haven't we signed Z yet? That's what I want to know. I think by "adding payroll" Hendry is probably referring to taking on short term deals (probably impending FAs)
  8. Don't forget we get the backend of the Pirates rotation, and we will even miss Cub killer Zach Duke to the DL this weekend.
  9. You can listen on 620. Nevermind, I forgot you live in Texas. Gameday Audio is free right now. Why?? I don't know its a free preview until July 14th, I am told.
  10. You can listen on 620. Nevermind, I forgot you live in Texas. Gameday Audio is free right now.
  11. I read on the brewers board that the game was supposed to start at 2:00 CST
  12. If Soriano was able to play center, I think the plan was to trade Jones (or make him the 4th OF if Floyd gets hurt), play Murton in left and Floyd in right. But since Murton slumped and Soriano can't play CF, now Pie has to come up and play CF (which wouldn't be so bad but now Lou can't give him consistent ABs), leaving no room for Murton, who also needs consistent ABs. I still think Murton will be a part of the team's plans down the stretch this year. Something has to give.
  13. no kidding...he hasn't had ANY success to this point. You know Shawn Estes had isolated stretches of success for the Cubs in 2003. I'm not exactly on the hate Rich Hill bandwagon, I'm just saying.
  14. Prince Fielder supposedly getting the day off today.
  15. So he can suffer the same fate as Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, Nomar Garciaparra, Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez
  16. Not sure if everyone is voting for Z or not, but: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070704&content_id=2066969&vkey=allstar2007&fext=.jsp If you are voting for Z, here is a good time to step up the voting! It ends today.
  17. Really? You just figured out now that as a starter would would need more than 2 pitches to be successful?
  18. I used to get WGN in sporadic parts of New Hampshire when I lived there. I remember listening to Game 4 of the 2003 NLCS and hearing Pat's call of Ramirez's grand slam as I was driving down the highway (frantically trying to get to a TV). As far as radio station signals go, I used to get ESPN1000 quite well in NH, I would listen to Bulls games all the time. WBBM 780 came in very well as well. WGN was the next best signal, and once in a very blue moon, I'd manage to get the Score.
  19. Before our respective series, I was thinking that if we could gain a game on them in this 4 day span, I'd be happy. Now if the Pirates can somehow hold on and the Cubs do their jobs tomorrow we are assured of at least a game gained.
  20. Whats the point of playing a season if you aren't going to at least attempt to win or in their case root for their team to win the division. It's a bad example, but the Yankees are 12 games out. Don't you think they are saying similar things? Yes the Yankees have a bunch more talent then the Pirates, but you gotta think that they are thinking that if Adam LaRoche plays like 2006 LaRoche and Jason Bay reverts back to the one they know and love and Gorzelanny and Snell continue to pitch solidly for the Pirates they can get back into it. I of course don't believe it, but there is logic behind their hope.
  21. LaRoche! 5-3 Pirates
  22. I was driving around Wrigleyville today listening to their pregame show and it came in mostly fine. A few weeks ago, I was trying to listen to one of their games at night and it was almost impossible to hear. I'm guessing since AM radio signals travel better at night, there was interference from other stations.
  23. He is also slugging almost .500, which is most likely second on the team behind Ramirez. (I'm too lazy to check) That should keep him in the 3 hole
