I knew the Floyd signing was a bad thing from day 1. Please anyone who thinks Floyd should be starting look at Murton's second half stats last year. This team is not going to win the World Series, so why clog up our positions with veterans that have no future with the team while up and coming players rot away on the bench.

This is why I figured that we'd suck. This team feels like a continuation of 2006 to me until further notice.

Was this a national game? I didn't notice. Teams postpone games on one day's notice all the time. I don't think that's an issue. This was a WGN game. The issue isn't the postponement but the rescheduling. The Cubs have hundreds of affiliate stations that carry their broadcasts so allowing for the reshuffling of programming is important. Think about it, stations set their programming schedules weeks in advance (including guest interviews) it's not just a matter of the Cubs are playing so they carry the game... An ancillary benefit is this allows the Cubs to add a Summer night game to the schedule. This is the first season that they have been allowed up to 30 night games. I believe that the addition of this game and the option to change two future Sunday night games brings the total to 29. I do know they gave up a night game to add a second night for the Police concert. Well what are they going to show now today with the Cubs game canceled on such short notice?

So I'm guessing that Lou won't skip Hill's start, and the rotation for the Cinci series will be Friday - Hill Saturday - Zambrano Sunday - Lilly

Looks terrible out...I work about 4 blocks from the Sears tower, and the visibility is so bad, I cannot see it. It's snowing pretty heavily right now. If it accumulates enough I cannot see how they would be able to clear the field in time.

No they don't but without the errors, one could make a case that his ERA could have been lowered just by virtue of pitching deeper in the game. The errors extended the innings and raised his pitch count which contributed to Marquis only pitching 5 innings. That's what he's saying. Bah..he could have pitched longer and given up 5 more runs too. The what-if game is a dangerous game. Lets go on what he actually did. well, what he actually did was keep the team in the game. So if the offense scored 7 runs and he allowed 10, did he do a good job of 'keeping his team in the game'? that's different and you know it It's the same type of logic though. Kevin Millwood won the AL ERA title in 2005 with a 2.86 ERA but he was only 9-11 for the Indians....does that mean he did a poor job that year? No he did a fantastic job that year. Meanwhile, Randy Johnson goes 17-11 with a 5.00 ERA last year. Did he do something special that allowed him to "keep his team in the game"? Is it because the Yankees have a great offense that he's allowed to throw up a meatball every once in awhile?

But that doesn't affect those stats. You can't give up 3 earned runs in the first and pretend to not share in the blame of a loss. Sure, but it wasn't a poor outing. I don't know a pitcher out there who wins a game with the offense putting up goose eggs. Agreed. No use splitting hairs here. It's not splitting hairs. Follow my logic. You say that if the Cubs did their part and scored runs, then we'd win the game. So if every game, Marquis threw 5 innings of 3 ER ball. And most every game, the offense responded and won. So at the end of the year, Marquis won 20 games and had a 5.40 ERA. Any way you look at it, he would have had a bad year statistically. It doesn't matter that he won 20 games, when being judged and compared to the rest of the pitchers of the year, his numbers would be quite poor other then wins and losses.

Times like this you have to ask yourself: You love the Cubs, but have they ever loved you back?

Bad game all around. Reminds me more of a game from the 2005 season then the 2006 season. Don't worry, this offense is feast or famine, so you guys will be going all nuts when the Cubs reel off 4-5 great offensive performances in a row, and then will be back in the pits in 2 weeks after another famine.
