  1. Too optimistic to be a Cubs fan.

  3. I think if we can blow teams out for 40 straight games we'd be sittin pretty. Do people not understand that blowing teams out is more impressive than winning close games? I think its a pretty common misconception. Winning close games just means you got a little lucky and was evenly matched with another team. Blowing a team out means you beat them in every sense of the game. Or in this case it means they scored a bunch of runs on the Brewers worst pitchers. In 2005, the Indians had 93 wins but were 22-36 in one run games. That same season, Seattle had 69 wins but was 26-23 in one run games
  4. :-({|= Enjoy the win man! dude, i do enjoy the win...i am just looking for more i have been enjoying the wins everyfewtimes this season...but then comes the heartbreak...and the heartbreak is not something championships routinely do in my opinion I know but no need to pick apart the win. Would you rather the Cubs have scored less runs in the game so we could win a close one?
  5. Who cares if hes knocking the ball all over the place and his OPS is still .938 for the season. I'm a little concerned about the .468 BABIP. Yeesh, I didn't check that. OK thats a little scary
  6. That I can agree with but I don't think many people really expected him to have that type of power again. I, and many others, assumed he'd be off his 2005 pace. But I was hoping he'd be above his 2000-2004 pace. That Derrek Lee was nothing special. His OPS currently has him somewhere between elite Derrek and second tier Derrek, but if the HR pace doesn't quicken, he'll probably fall back to the completely unimpressive Lee. I don't see him falling off his pace too much. Will he hit .350 for the year? No. But his AB's look similar to the ones he had in 2005 in that he is hitting that inside pitch, and overall has great plate coverage as well as an above average pitch selection. I would say his BA drops to around .310 but his SLG goes up to .550 and his OBP would end up somewhere around .950 for the year.

  8. So when do Soriano and Jacque hit their first HRs?
  9. Scott Eyre is in the pen licking his chops
  10. Wake up, we are in the middle of a 99 year losing streak
  11. Yeah uhhh...Go Bulls! Edit: We hit Sheets well last time, and Lilly has been our most consistant pitcher now that Hill kinda sorta faltered tonight (I didn't see the game so I could be wrong). BTW, Bulls @ Heat, Game 3 is on Friday night
  12. OK, my team is in a huge pitching rut. My team ERA is over 5.00, a run higher than the second worst team. My team wins are 5, also way in last. My team WHIP is in last by a far amount as well. This is my rotation: D. Willis Jered Weaver G. Meche K. Wells D. Bush J. Patterson C. Carpenter (DL) so basically, I am desperate for pitching. Who knows when Carp is going to be back right? On the other hand, I have TONS of power. My lineup consists of McCann, Ortiz, C. Jones, Dunn, Vlad, G. Sizemore, LaRoche, F. Thomas, Bill Hall. So I was proposed this trade: I give up: Carpenter Vlad Sizemore Meche I get: Hafner Ibanez Peavy I know I am getting ripped off a bit, especially if Carp comes back and dominates...but I am in last place in the league, and need to make a move or else I'm in trouble. What do you guys think?
  13. OBP guys....the reason I was down on the team when everyone else was predicting Division titles and whatnot
  14. I'll take you one step further. Ronny Cedeno is a crappy baseball player, and has no business in the major leagues. I'm sure he's a great kid. But he's the Sanjaya of Cubbie-dom. He needs to be gone. You've got Angel Guzman at AAA and this guy is in the majors, for Christ's sake. He's not a great kid. He's married and has kids in Venezuela apparently, but last year he was repeatedly harassing my roommates sister and her friends trying to hook up with them. I even have his old cell phone number as proof.
  15. Whether or not its because of his lack of playing time (and chances are it is), Murton is garbage right now.
  16. Thats what the Cubs do.... Last year we managed to allow 2 runs to score on a sacrifice fly and allow 2 runs to score on a Wild Pitch
  17. 2007 Cubs: Same lack of results, only with added inability to beat the Cards!
  18. He's our PHer dudes! Oh wait, Dusty isn't the manager anymore.
  19. Can we move Theriot to SS yet? Soriano Theriot Lee Ramirez Barrett Jones Murton/Floyd DeRosa Pitcher Please please please
  20. Don't worry Cards fans, Izzy will GIDP
  21. Few situations I endorse a sac bunt. This is one (as long as they PH izzy for someone with a clue...which isnt possible because all of our MIs are in the game)
