  1. Cuban, Colangelo, Bill Murray..... I work at CDW and there is a rumor going around that the founder of our company Michael Krasny is looking to be the majority owner of a group to buy the Cubs. I don't know if there is any truth to this rumor. Anyony read anything about this? I heard that on the score. Aren't CDW's losing money. Most I know of are closing down... CDW doesn't have any retail stores. We have our corporate headquarter up in Vernon Hills Illinois. CDW is also the fastest growing IT company in the country, who would have guessed we are second to dell at 8 billion dollars in sales compared to dells 25 million. Wow they really got you guys loving the company over there! Glad you are able to post at work now :)
  2. And then almost bankrupt the team..
  3. I know this is just a hypothetical idea, but the other 29 owners would never approve that.
  4. Exactly. However, even though I didn't like the blues, I think they should be worn on the road occasionally just to mix things up
  5. The only time i remember seeing him in pinstripes was the All star game in 2004...he looked weird
  6. I just read that too...thats so weird...no more blue jerseys? I hated those things, but I think they should appear some of the time. With McDonough being the marketing guy previously, I would think that he knows its necessary to wear the blue jerseys some of the time (in order to sell more of them)
  7. At least Dusty had his team ready to play on Opening Day. Not Lou!
  8. This is so weird to not be winning opening day...when is the last time we lost opening day? 2002?
  9. Miserable game. C'mon Lou flip out and yell or something
  10. Opening Day is a great way to measure the last 161 games of the season, that's for sure. Not really what I was saying, but I can see how you could take it that way. I was mostly referring to the bright eyed optimism that typically gets built up in spring training.
  11. Hopefully this will cool down the crazy thoughts people were predicting about the success of the team this year.
  12. Well Z maybe next year you can last 5 innings on Opening Day
  13. This is why I'm not high on the Cubs this year...the bottom of the order just doesnt do it for me.
  14. Lou: Zambrano probably won't want to see too many bunt signs today!
  15. I'm not scared of him for his possibly minor attachment to the Sox, I'm scared of him because he's a heartless money-eating robot. I was replying (but not quoting, shame on me!) to another post about him being a Cubs fan. Keep in mind, he's a heartless money-eating robot who managed to bring a world series to an expansion franchise very quickly. And then went broke. Yeah but who cares if they are almost bankrupt, they won the world series!
  16. Do you see that St. Louis can win the division? I don't see how their rotation could be called better than ours-maybe similar, but certainly not better (btw, I know that you have Milwaukee winning the division, just curious if you think anybody else has a chance besides them). Yeah they could. Any of the 4 teams (Milwaukee, St. Louis, Houston, Chicago maybe even the Reds) can realistically win the division. My reasons for the Cubs not winning it tend to go beyond the rotation as well, I don't think the lineup has enough patience to be as productive as people are predicting it to be. I think it will be very feast or famine like our 2004 offense. 1B: Lee, Lee. Adv: 2007 (better now then in 2004) 2B: Walker/Grudz, DeRosa Adv: 2004 3B: Ramirez, Ramirez Adv: Push SS: Gonzalez/Nomar, Izturiz Slight Adv: 2004 C: Barrett, Barrett Adv: Push RF: Sosa, Jones Adv: 2004 CF: Patterson, Soriano Adv: 2007 LF: Alou, Murton/Floyd Adv: 2004 Plus our 2004 offense was actually better then this years. Then you add the fact that our rotation was better in 2004, and you can see that 89 wins might be out of our reach. I will give you that our bullpen is much better this year and our bench is better this year as well.
  17. I just can't see any way the Cubs, with that rotation, winning the division. Basically I'm approaching this season with pessimism but at the same time with hopes that I'm wrong
  18. I don't think that they do, normally I check for that kinda stuff but not this time Looks like I'm 8 games over .500 overall, thats actually not bad at all
  19. I don't think that they do, normally I check for that kinda stuff but not this time

  21. Can we have Adam Dunn? Please. As good as he is, we don't have a spot for him. We have Lee where he should be playing, 1B, and if you thought our outfield defense was bad now, adding Dunn would make it worse. He's about equivalent to putting a glove on a statue out there. LOL that's a joke right? You don't have room for 40 homers, 100 RBIs, and high OBP? I agree completely that we could use Dunn, but at some point you have to consider defense at the expense of more offense.. As somebody who watches every game, his D is bad, but it's nowhere near bad enough to offset his offense. It was on opening day last year :)

  23. One year, ironically the one with the most hope 2004, we only won 7-4
