  1. Probably. He hasn't had a hit since April 28th. Yeah but he hasn't reverted back to last fall's Fukudome. He's still driving the ball and having good ABs, they just aren't falling in. If I start seeing him ground out weakly to 2B or striking out helplessly, I'll get worried. Also, I don't get the theory of sitting Fukudome against lefties. I know he's a lefty, and the whole L/L matchup thing, but look at his career splits: vs. RHP: .251/.355/.388/.743 vs. LHP: 276/.371/.354/.725 This year, Fukudome only has 3 ABs against lefties, but is 1-3 with a HR against them.
  2. I really wish we could go back then and trade Deng when his value was sky high. I think we could have gotten a superstar for him and an expiring after 06-07.
  3. In related news, Dusty Baker has demanded to Walt Jocketty that he acquire Francoeur immediately. He was quoted as saying, "Now that's one cool cat."
  4. That's a very sad fantasy. He's eligible at just about every position. That's what makes him so valuable. So because he can play every position he's valuable. Why don't you check with your league admin. and ask him to get my name into the available FA pool and qualify me to play 3B/SS/OF/2B. I will contribute just as much to your fantasy team. You might actually have more value than Miles if you are in a league that has a hitting category for least "K's"
  5. Except you can't really dump salary in the NBA like in baseball. The Bulls would need to get back matching salaries if they traded Hinrich. Yeah, the idea is to get a salary that expires after next season. That's why Kirk was almost traded in February. His value has only increased since that point. Regarding Kirk, what I would do is feel out the situation regarding 2010 FAs. If you feel that players like Amare or Bosh are going to be available this summer, then you make your move for that player and see if you can make that move without getting rid of Kirk. We don't have to get rid or Kirk for an expiring if those players are available this offseason.. If the Suns or Raptors want an expiring, you have Tim Thomas, Jerome James and Brad Miller to offer them. If its more likely they are going to stay until FA, I would definitely look to see what we can get for Kirk so that we can have money to spend in 2010. His value as a player as a backup PG is immense. But his contract makes him an expensive luxury to have.
  6. That's a very sad fantasy. He's eligible at just about every position. That's what makes him so valuable. http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/3134/fantt.png Congrats on being the 1% of fantasy players that see the sneaky value of Aaron Miles.
  7. And the point of stealing second while down 4 with 2 outs in the inning is?
  8. I was going to respond with some snarky post about how even teams like the Giants get 6 runs quite a few times during the course of the year, but they have only done it 4 times in the first 24 games this season before today. And yes, they are 4-0 when scoring more than 6 runs.
  9. Meh, who cares if the Cardinals win. We weren't supposed to win this one anyways, we didn't and now we've only won 4 of our last 5 games. As long as we keep playing decent baseball, the Cardinals will be no match for us.
  10. Shark in his career: First 18 appearances - 22 IP, 1.23 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 21 K, 8 BB Last 13 appearances - 9 IP, 7.00 ERA, 2.78 WHIP, 9 K, 9 BB
  11. I'm telling you, I don't think Shark is ready to be a full time major leaguer yet. He was brought up too early for the Cubs, and after an initial period of success last August he's been pretty bad since then.
  12. That just missed too. Would have been nice to see 3-2 score. Maybe Lincecum doesn't have his best stuff today.
  13. Lee just missed that. Good to see him driving the ball consistently though.
  14. I wish I asked this before Gathright singled but.... Worst 1-2 in recent Cubs history... Neifi Perez/Enrique Wilson Joey Gathright/Aaron Miles Corey Patterson/Neifi Perez Corey Patterson/Jerry Hairston
  15. Any chance of beating Lincecum with our reserve lineup ended pretty much. But you all already knew that. If we somehow win this, I'll be pretty damn impressed.
  16. Has he gotten a start all year? That's probably why. Not saying I agree with it but..
  17. So the players not playing today.. Alfonso Soriano Aramis Ramirez Milton Bradley Geovany Soto Ryan Theriot Reed Johnson Carlos Marmol Kevin Gregg This is the lineup the Cubs employed the day after they clinched the division last year... Fukudome Cedeno Hoffpauir Ward Fontenot Pie McGehee Hill Pretty close haha.
  18. Thank God it seems like he's ok. As much as we make fun of him here, its all in the fun of baseball. I hope he can make a quick recovery. But take all the time you need Rick...might be best to sit it out until next season :)
  19. The Cubs are back to a 91 win pace for the year
  20. I have a feeling we somehow pull off a couple of runs and beat Lincecum tomorrow.
  21. Stop messing around Gregg and get the last 2 outs.
  22. Demp really has had problems with the big inning this year huh?
