  1. The first pitch is always the best, eh Fonten-O (for 4)
  2. 8 ERs for our ace tonight? Nice contract that guy has.
  3. Isn't Mock the pitcher we scored 8 runs against in one inning back in Washington?
  4. Hit and run call with Ramirez running and Fukucopter up?
  5. Sounds interesting. I wouldn't just make a change at GM just to make a change, and it doesn't look like its the case here. Hendry has his faults, and I'd rather have an improvement, but he's also made some good moves during his time. I'd rather not get someone who could potentially be worse than him.
  6. Getting back to the topic of talking about baseball... Has Felix Pie figured it out? He homered again today and after an awful start this is how he has done over the last 30 games: .338/.377/.477/.854 Of course a lot of that has been part time (only 70 PA in that sample of 30 games...also doesn't include today where he went 1-3 with a homer). So lets look at the last 9 games (again not counting today too lazy to add it to the stats) where he has started a bit more frequently: .409/.458/.682/1.140 His line for the year is now .259/.316/.401/.718 after a miserable start. Obviously there are sample size issues all over, but its good to see him seeing a bit of success.
  7. Grabow is a decent arm that I would be happy to have back on the team if his contract went past this year. But since he's a FA this year, if he does in fact end up as a Type A, I think you'd be an idiot to turn down first round picks for the services of a middle reliever while decent, is a dime a dozen.
  8. lol entertaining reading Dodgerblues after this one. They seem to be convinced the Dodgers are done, and a LOT of people are ripping on post-steroid Manny. The fans on that site don't like him anymore.
  9. Sure we can probably beat the Nats. Maybe. Hopefully.
  10. I agree with this, but with the Red Sox position in the AL East Standings, they couldn't afford to have him work out his issues any longer. On the Cardinals, with a huge lead, in a crappier league, facing a bad hitting team in a pitcher's ballpark, with a terrific pitching coach, it couldn't have been a more perfect situation for him to walk into.
  11. If the Cardinals and Cubs were tied for 1st, and the Cardinals went 4-12, and the Cubs went 12-4, and the Cubs just signed John Smoltz who was dominating in his first start as a Cub, and I went onto GatewayRedbird or whatever its called and started updating his stat line by inning, I would probably get banned no matter my posting history. Whether or not NPC was trying to rile up Cubs fans, he needs to think a bit when he's posting here. For any poster on this forum, posting is a privilege, but its even more of a privilege for a rival fan. You (meaning rival fans) are welcome to post here and come here whenever you like and we love to have you contribute, but as Cubs fans this is our home and you are a guest in our home. You could have 10,000 quality posts as a Cardinals fan and (at least in Cubs and/or Cardinals related discussions) you will still be a guest in our home. Do you visit your friend's home and constantly talk about how much hotter your wife is than your friend's, and how she lets you have threesomes and your friend can only do it missionary with the lights off? It's the same thing here.
  12. squeeze edit: whoops i thought it was only 1 out
  13. 2 days in a row without Soriano. Looks like we have a $18 million part time player
  14. 10-13 for 99 yards and 1 TD (0 INTs). Much more like the Orton I expected to see. Go Kyle! As long as he doesn't put up better numbers than Cutler, I am rooting for him.
  15. Link? Sorry I left my computer for a minute. Mostly in the game thread. http://boards.giants.com/forums/4/ShowForum.aspx
  16. The Giants forum is going nuts about their team's performance today ha.
  17. I'd understand if he was signed for 1 year to go all in this year, but he's gonna be here for awhile. It's not like he has no one to throw to, they just aren't WRs. You have Olsen, who is one of the best pass catching TEs in the game, you have Forte who is one of the better receiving RBs out there. You also have your number 1 target in college so you have someone to throw to that your familiar with even if he game isn't good enough for the NFL (just hypothetical). He can win this year with what he's got (meaning he can make the playoffs and the rest maybe), so deal with it. We could go out and sign a WR but it might affect our long term plan to do so.
  18. I can't wait to hear talk radio this week. Talk is going to go from "Cutler is a slightly more accurate and mobile Rex Grossman" to "Can we eclipse the Patriots record for most points in a season?"
  19. Dear Bears Defense, Please tackle the person with the ball. Signed, Concerned Fan
  20. Can Chicago sports talk shut up about Cutler being a bust now? K thx, listening to that was intolerable all week.
  21. Cutler's gonna blame that one on Hester too.
  22. Forte is a bit undersized so there will be times where he's drilled at the line, but hes a good enough back to get those yards back most of the time that a bigger back would get just from momentum.
  23. Hester is making some pretty good blocks for a small guy.
  24. See that was a pass that Cutler makes that Orton (or Grossman) couldn't
