  1. 6 straight singles (not including the INT Walk)
  2. Be nice if we could get an out this inning.
  3. Rammy has been late an awful lot lately.
  4. So I turn on the TV to see that the Cubs have been held scoreless for 22 straight innings. Nice work boys. Edit: Oh and all 3 starters we've faced during this 22 inning span have had ERAs over 5.81 going into their starts.
  5. I thought this was funny enough to be worth sharing. An old time baseball poem brought to life in present day Chicago.... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/248205-bradley-at-the-bat#page/1
  6. If you are referring to last season, he was signed and released by the Skins over a 3-4 week period.
  7. I feel bad for Rideau...he's had good camps the last 2 seasons with the Bears and nothing to show for it. I agree given the situation the Bears were in, he is the one that should have been cut, but I keep feeling like if we gave him a chance, he'd be a good fit for us as a big WR. Jason Davis would have been nice to have on the team as the backup FB but I can live with him getting cut. Rod Hood is awful and I'm glad he's gone. I'm a bit surprised McClover was cut, I thought I heard Lovie or someone praise him the other day.
  8. What he said. I think of DVR as an essential now...a necessity. I love being able to look through the listings and find a bunch of shows that I can just watch whenever. This really works with the MLB Network...well it used to when shows like "Baseball Seasons" and "Prime 9" still had original content (to me). It's also nice in situations like tonight when I was stuck in traffic and gonna miss the start of the Bears game. Luckily, I had it recorded as a "just in case" thing, and was able to relax and drive home sans most of my road rage knowing what was waiting for me when I got back. It's also primarily how I watch the Cubs now since most of their games are boring games with all the offensive ineptitude. I just pause the game, play Madden for 30 minutes, and then go back and fast forward through the game so I can spend about 2 minutes catching up on 30 minutes of game, then I rinse and repeat.
  9. Thanks hawkeyecub and Banedon. And I don't have a DVR. I keep planning on it, but haven't gotten around to it. But after hearing that NFL Matchup is still going, that may help motivate me to get one. I love that show. Once you get DVR you can't live without it.
  10. Any thoughts on how the WR battle is going after tonight? Assuming the belief that the 2 draft picks are locks (and Knox definitely earned his way on the team tonight), here is how I have it stacked up in order of likelihood: 1. Hester 2. Bennett 3. Iglesias 4. Knox 5. Davis 6. Aromashodu I think Aromashodu barely makes it over Rideau, although I was not impressed with his performance today. Hanie did overthrow him two times, but he also had a drop and didn't do a ton to get open. Personally, I'd love both of them to make it, but I think Cutler's slight preference for Aromashodu will give him the nod. Rashied Davis didn't even play today, which I think suggests that he's made it. Is it unprecidented to carry 7 WRs on a team? I would assume it is, because it's completely unnecessary to have 7 WRs, but maybe the Jones injury gives the Bears an extra week or two to decide who is staying long term.
  11. 2 runs in 12 innings over the last two days against pitchers with eras over 6. Great work.
  12. If you have ever wanted to goto a Cubs/Sox game and you have the day off tomorrow, this is your chance. I've been looking at craigslist just for fun, and I've found 100 level seats for $50 each, bleacher seats for $25 each, UD as low as $15 each, etc. I think the postings will be even more desperate in the morning. Or you could probably just walk around the ballpark until a scalper approaches you. I was out walking my dogs on Saturday and had someone randomly offer me 2 seats in the 400 level for $5 total. It's too bad I had better things to do. :)
  13. Just goes to show how crappy the NL is or at least how much easier it is to pitch in the NL. Hell, I'm expecting Jose Contreras to throw a 1-hitter soon. If Zambrano went to the AL, he'd be brutal. If so, it just looks even worse on Hendry that he couldn't even put together a team that could compete in the worst of the two leagues with $130 million to spend.
  14. It would also even the all time series record between the 2 clubs.
  15. C'mon, worst case scenario is 10 wins for the Vikings? How how the heck is the Vikings FLOOR as many wins as they had last year? So if the Williams Wall gets suspended 4 games, Favre's frail body causes him an injury that affects his performance like it has 2 of the last 3 seasons (and is too stubborn to sit bc of his streak, and has too much pull to forcibly be sat down), and Harvin has as little impact as 90% of rookie receivers have, they are still winning 10 games? That's awful homerism on your part. Ask a Packers fan how good they were last year and how many wins they ended up with to find out how wrong you are. Personally, I'd say Vikings 6-11 wins, Bears 7-12 wins and Packers 6-12 wins. As much as I hate the Packers, I think if a good amount of things go well for them they have slightly the highest upside although I'm not necessarily making them the favorites. And that's not me hating on your Vikings either, they have a really good team if Favre can play well (big IF), even if not they have a good enough team to make the playoffs/win division. I didn't phrase that correctly. Clearly I don't mean that worst case scenario for the Vikings is 10 wins, nor did I mean worst case scenario for the Bears is 9 wins. What I was trying to say is that as things stand right now, I see the Vikings between 10-12 wins, Bears between 9-11 and Packers 8-10. Without foreseeing bad things happening to Cutler, Rodgers, Favre, Forte, Peterson, Jennings, Briggs, Allen, Jennings, Woodson, Kampmann, Winfield, Olsen, Urlacher, Williams', etc. As to your points about the Vikings... The Williams' case is almost certainly postponed until after the season. Favre of last year was still much better than what the Vikings got at QB. If he gets knocked out I'm more comfortable with Sage/Tarvaris of this year than Gus/Tarvaris of last year. If Percy doesn't have an impact we have the same receiving corps as last year. He may not be DeSean Jackson of last year, but with the amount of plays they've drawn up just for him he'll have more than a little impact in my opinion. The defense was top 8 last year with a collection of street free agents playing MLB after E.J. Henderson's injury. Getting him and our top special teams player (and his backup) back after missing nearly all of last season, they have a good shot at being a legit top 5 defense in the league. Add that to a top 5 running game and Favre/whoever just has to be slightly better than Gus was. I'm sorry but including things like "chance Favre might get hurt" should be in your ceiling/floor projections. Much more than something like Cutler getting hurt. While both could happen, it is far more likely Favre's 41 year old body succumbs to a hit and starts to play erratically like last year. Also, weren't you the guy who was bragging about Tavaris' 98.whatever QB rating last year to point out how people were underrating him? Now your sorta throwing him under the bus saying that the Vikings won despite him last year. There are a lot of things to be optimistic about if you are a Vikings fan this year (and Bears, and Packers). I'm just saying to be a bit realistic. The funny thing is, the chances of both of us looking like idiots in December is slightly higher than either one of us looking like geniuses with the way the NFL is.

  17. The joke that never gets old...
  18. The real stars of the game are the umps...or at least that's what they want us to think. Enough penalties guys.
  19. maybe if they were 10's instead of 6's they'd still be loud.
