  1. I think Z will be better than last time out. Hypothetically we should be able to hit Figueroa. However, he was the guy that shut down the Cardinals for like 7 innings after their starter (I think Maine?) went down with an injury about 3 weeks, and 9 games in the standings ago.
  2. So now the Cardinal score can be updated without anyone getting butt-hurt? This place is confusing. ?? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=55533 Yeah we all know what you are referring to. I for one am just shocked why some people still don't get why people got uptight in that thread.
  3. Dammit, don't suck me back into this please.
  4. lol wat Even if the Cubs reeled off a string of wins, a comeback would still require the Cardinals to do something they absolutely refuse to do - lose more than once a week. meh just let him be optimistic. We need more of that around here.
  5. Koyie Hill doubled right down the LF line, about 5 feet from the stands (in foul ground). A fan with a glove reached from those stands and took a lunge at catching the ball, which at the time was clearly going to be fair, and missed it. The ball fell in for an RBI double.
  6. Did our fans learn anything from Bartman, sheesh.
  7. Having hope is AOK by me but to expect the Cubs to play much better than .500 ball the rest of the season after how it's played over the first 130 games is just a bit unlikely. Sure there are examples of teams tha did put it all together after 100+ games of .500 ball. The 07 Rockies is the most recent and biggest. Of course that was a young team with untapped potential. This is a team of veterans who hypothetically figured it out already if they are gonna at all. That said there is still 1% of me no more no less that's wonders how the cardinals and Rockies are doing.
  8. I think that advantage is somewhat negated by the fact that Pittsburgh gets to spend it's Sunday and subsequent film sessions watching how the Bears offense attacks a 3-4 defense.
  9. I love how Soriano did the "you can't see me" thing after his first home run in August. Yeah we can't see you...on any leaderboards except highest paid players. I am so funny.
  10. I never really thought about how much I worry about the Bears schedule to start the season until today. There are some really good teams to start the season, and 3 of the first 5 are on the road. I'm just worried that because of the fluky nature of football sometimes, if we drop a couple of close games to good teams even if we've played well in them it could hurt the momentum that has built up over the offseason. I think in the first 5 games we are capable of going 4-1, but also 1-4 if a few things break the wrong way. We should be somewhere in the middle though. We can survive 2-3, and I'd feel pretty good about 3-2. Here is the schedule to start the season in case people forgot: @ Green Bay vs. Pittsburgh @ Seattle vs. Detroit Bye @ Atlanta Comments (with pessimism and optimism about each, except Detroit which is all optimism) Green Bay is a tough rivalry game, and both teams have shown that no matter what the records are or talent level is, surprising things can happen. But, although GB was clearly better than their record last year (outscored opponents by 30+ points but finished 6-10), this is the start of their 3-4 defense and we should be able to move the ball on them with ease. Getting Pittsburgh for your home opener is a really tough draw, but I guess since we have to play Pittsburgh this season, having them at home at a time where the fans and players will be charged up isn't so bad (since Pittsburgh can play in the cold like the best of them), but it's still Pittsburgh. I just never feel comfortable playing in Seattle. Seattle should be improved, but playing at Qwest Field worries me quite a bit, although we did play well there in 07 and only lost by a TD. Detroit should be a breeze at home, I would chalk this up to a guaranteed win, and with the bye week after, there is no reason for this to be a trap game. Finally Atlanta, scene of the crime (crime being theft of a win and a playoff bearth). Assuming Atlanta picks up where it left off last year, this should be another tough but winnable game. And I'd rather play Atlanta after a bye than Detroit.
  11. I doubt the Cubs would be able to give Maybin a position and wait until he gets it at the MLB level. Just my opinion.
  12. 21 days since the Cubs have gained ground on the Cardinals...
  13. Look how happy the Nats look. At least we brought happiness to come people's lives.
  14. The Nats are just a really tough team. Gotta tip your caps to them.
  15. LETS GO CUBS THE WILD CARD IS IN OUR GRASPS!!! JUST GOTTA EARN IT! YOU CAN DO IT!!! (hows that?)
  16. Where does it say that Bradley was put on waivers or that Harden and Heilman were the only 2 that were claimed?
  17. Yeah but the bottom line is you shouldn't need those calls to beat the damn Nationals at home with JD Drew on the mound or whoever it is
  18. Wait the Cubs got screwed on a call that had a profound impact on the game? Unbelievable! Luckiest team in baseball
  19. Who wants to bet there is someone else playing 1B for the Cubs when we return?
  20. Might have been a great day if we were in some sort of playoff qualification race.
  21. Oh come on, Aaron Miles has to be on that team somewhere. Duh, he's uber utility guy/1st bat off the bench
  22. I was expecting 5 starts 3-1, 1.93 ERA 49 K, 10 BB
  23. At least the Wheelchair Cubs can win a World Series apparently.
