  1. And Lee scores...oh wait. History is all yours for the taking Lilly.
  2. Either team can score with walks, hbp, errors, etc. and have two no hitters in a normal 9 inning game. What do you mean? I'm saying if the Cubs scratched across a run at some point without getting a hit, the bottom of the 9th wouldn't be necessary so the White Sox wouldn't get a true no hitter. I want to see both teams get no-no's so for that to happen the White Sox have to be the team that gets the run across unless it were to go extra innings.
  3. Well in order for both pitchers to throw a no hitter, either the White Sox have to win or it has a be an extra inning no-no. I don't think we need extra innings, so hopefully the White Sox can get a run across without a hit so we can see some history.
  4. It's speculation from an SI writer originating here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/jim_kelley/06/10/leighton.blackhawks.notes/1.html Also a piece with Niemi's agent saying there will be no hometown discount. USA Today writer speculated that he'll demand $4M. Hometown discount? Niemi says NO. Ok bye bye Niemi. But honestly that doesn't make sense. Does Niemi not want to be a Blackhawk anymore? He's gotta know that by demanding that much money he's not coming back. I think he thinks he has leverage being a fan favorite and stanley cup hero and the blackhawks not have any proven options at goalie. But he has to know that if its between keeping him and Patrick Sharp, they are going to choose Sharp. I do understand that this is his best chance at making for money and wants to maximize that. I can't fault him for that. But if he wants to remain a Hawk, this is not the best way to go. I'm still in the honeymoon period though. I promised 2 weeks of not worrying about next season. Still got like 10 days left.
  5. Wouldn't a tie be a bad thing for Slovenia? Assuming they can't get any points off England, and assuming we handle Algeria, we advance with a tie against them. If they do get points off England, then either we tie with both England and Slovenia (if they tied) and 2/3 advance, or Slovenia and USA advance (with Slovenia victory).
  6. Hossa was playing with a sprained MCL during the Finals.
  7. Wow -- Sat Jun 12, 2010 10:31 pm -- That is interesting -- Sat Jun 12, 2010 10:31 pm -- Does it count as one post or 3?
  8. Kansas in the MWC would absolutely destroy their basketball program. They'd still get recruits being Kansas, but can you imagine them playing in a conference with the likes of Air Force, Wyoming, TCU, etc.
  9. You know someone who we could buy really low on is Brandon Webb. That said, I am not really sure we should be trying to acquire veterans with even moderate contracts.
  10. And a response from a Sharks fan: This. Seriously. At least Canucks fans can take some solace in the fact that your team actually won a couple of games against the Hawks. My Sharks pretty much dominated them for three of the four games they played, and still managed to get swept. I am so freaking bitter, right now.
  11. Speaking of looking at other team's reactions...from a Canucks blog:
  12. 7.5/2.5, I'd say. We drew Italy 1-1 last time, too. And I'm still not sure it increases our chance of advancement. Yeah but we had a much harder group back then and we had already lost to the other dominant team by multiple goals at that point in the tourney. While everyone celebrated that as a victory, they really needed an actual victory to have a great shot at advancing. McManaman looked absolutely distraught after the game. I think in terms of advancing, England shouldn't being that upset. And in terms of how they played, they had plenty of good opportunities and didn't put them away. But overall you gotta think they're pretty disapointed here. I'd say more of 4-5 for England. For USA, I'd say an 8. I don't think in the locker room they thought this way, but you have to consider getting a draw here to be a victory for the USA.
  13. I didn't realize the Sox made a blockbuster trade last night. /hahaitssofunnytomakejokeswhen free makesatypo [sigh] heh...umm...i put that there on purpose..yeah..
  14. So i posted this earlier but it was during heat of battle and I wanted to see what the soccer guys think On a scale of 1-10 how much of a victory was drawing here for the US? Conversely, how much of a disapointment was drawing for England?
  15. I didn't realize the Sox made a blockbuster trade last night. /hahaitssofunnytomakejokeswhenfreemakesatypo
  16. So basically with 1 point here, we only need to get 3 more points to feel really good about advancing. There's going to be a lot less pressure to have to beat the other 2 teams than there would have been if we took 0 points here. I don't know if the less pressure is a good or bad thing, but whatever.
  17. And the USA is still undefeated lifetime against England in World Cup history!
  18. Any doubt MOTM is Howard?
  19. A draw!!! Nice showing.
  20. I wish the NBA could institute a running clock and quick restarts after fouls and out of bounds plays. Would really help reduce all the referee bickering that drains the game.
  21. Were probably goin to see a lengthy stoppage time aren't we Edit: yeah 4 mins
  22. I'm surprised we didn't see a booking there. US is getting a little pushy. Altidore is out.
  23. Stop showing the damn T-Storm warning. I've lived in Chicago most of my life and I've never heard of Newton county, so shut up about a T-storm down there.
  24. On a scale of 1-10 how big of a success is a draw here for the USA? An 8? Conversely, how big of a failure is a draw for England? Maybe a 4-5? (with 10 being biggest failure) Obviously not as big to England because they are going to advance, but still not what they wanted here. C'mon USA.
  25. USA looks tired and is getting beaten to a lot of balls. There we go. Findley with a nice showing but this is a good move for the last 15 minutes of a tied contest against a superior team.
