  1. Or trade for a star with assets. The problem is our best assets right now are players like Butler, Taj, Mirotic and maybe McDermott. After this year Butler will probably be overpaid with his new deal, so his value goes way down. After this year Taj will be 30 so his value will never be as high as it is now. Mirotic has to play like a 5-6 mil player or better this year to be a good chip, but I'm not sure that's possible as a 4th big playing 15-20 min per night. Basically this was the offseason to cash in your trade chips for a star player and the Bulls didn't do it. They might be worth keeping, I'm not saying yet that its the wrong decision, but I think it might be awhile before we have the 'attractive pieces' component for a trade for a star.
  2. I think the guards are in general woefully thin. Gasol will help offensively overall, but we still don't have a wing that can score other than Rose. And not that Deng was a great offensive wing, but he was better at creating than Dunleavy. Jury is out on Doug, but as a rookie I don't expect him to be much of a shot creator either. Rose/Hinrich Butler/Snell Dunleavy/McDermott Gibson/Mirotic/Randolph Noah/Gasol/Bairstow My hope is that Mirotic proves to be a solid contributor and someone like Taj is expendable for a wing scorer
  3. yeah but I think we had to renounce all of that stuff so that we could use the BLE
  4. I get the distinct feeling 2022 may not really be in Qatar. I was going to say, why would they play games in the middle of the night local time for the upcoming USA World Cup
  5. I agree with the negativity. We got better but we are no closer to winning a championship than we were in April.
  6. What the fudge? Almost 6 mil per year?
  7. And Kirk resigns
  8. love how Bryant's AB coincides exactly with the end of the freaking World Cup Final that I've been watching for 2.5 hours
  9. Glad someone scored. Didn't/don't want this to end in PKs
  10. Stupid other teams prospects not getting on base for Bryant in the 1st
  11. A year ago Travis wood was an all star
  12. how much is that exemption? 2.5 mil? As I understand it, unless they sign and trade Boozer the Bulls won't get the full MLE right? I'm assuming the Bulls are more likely to bring back Hinrich over DJ because they have Hinrich's bird rights, but not DJs? Or do they have neither because Hinrich only had a 2 year deal?
  13. So is this what the depth chart is looking like? Rose/Hinrich (maybe) Butler/Snell Dunleavy/McDermot Gibson/Gasol/Mirotic/Smith/Randolph Noah
  14. No Baez, Bryant, Soler and Alcantara is with the big club = quiet game thread
  15. This seems like a 58 win season and 5 game loss to Lebron. That will be 5/6 in the last 6 years. We basically need Mcdemott to be klay Thompson and Mirotic to be prime Toni kukoc instead of omri casspi and Rudy Fernandez. In LeBrons 11 seasons the Bulls have only played longer into the season than him one time (04-05) and that was because the Cavs lost a tiebreaker for the 8 seed so they didn't lose in the first round like Bulls. In the next 9 seasons Lebron has played at least a round later in the playoffs
  16. Did we pass on him? I missed that article, I think. Not sure if we passed on him but damn did he end up costing little in terms of assets. Oh well it was worth holding off to see if Melo would choose us.
  17. Woj says Melo to NYK will be announced in the next few hours. Hard to not believe Woj Looks like it's over.
  18. I just don't see the point given how well Taj played last year and Mirotic coming over. You could argue that PF was the position we least needed to add to. We also have Greg Smith who was injured last year but potentially a solid backup and Anthony Randolph who sucks but is on the books for 1.8 mil. Neither are anywhere as good as Gasol but again they are guaranteed contracts that are unlikely to be traded and on the roster next year. Maybe Miritic doesn't get signed but what else does he do, sit out the season, as it looks like the bridge to Real Madrid has been burned. They have no one over 6" tall who can get his own shot. Pau can. Right, I get what Pau can do. I guess it's just wondering if signing a 33 year old with durability concerns at our deepest position with a quality starter in place is the best allocation of resources. I don't claim to have another solution to propose, I haven't looked at available options outside of Melo.

  20. This is terrible with or without Melo
  21. Ps screw you cubs fans. Partnership over
  22. I'm as snarky as the rest of you guys, and I know the article was ghostwritten but Lebron comes off great in that article. Definitely changes my opinion of him a little even if it probably was filtered through a PR team before going public.
  23. Why do exciting player acquisitions always seem to turn out to be long drawn out ordeals for the Chicago teams I care about? Peavy and Roberts were months of anguish with no reward Soler signed and then didn't sign and then finally signed I guess LeBron saga wasnt that long but it felt like it Even the Wrigley Renovation has lasted literally years At least when the Bears go after a big name it happens quickly and decisively.
  24. ESPN did an NFL Future Rankings thing. Looks like the Bears were 11th. http://i.imgur.com/q2RGTCG.jpg
  25. Maybe all the Cub fans at the series this week voting while at the game?
