    Mirotic cant be traded until like December 15th because he just signed his contract. On a related note, the Bulls signed Bairstow already but Doug McDermott still hasn't been signed.... 2 random thoughts about these rumors... 1) RealGM is all over this already but these rumors may have surfaced from the TWolves side to get the Cavs to give up more in a trade (in addition to Wiggins). 2) It's possible the Bulls feel like they need make the trade to prevent Cleveland from getting Love and ruling the conference for the foreseeable future. Obviously it also makes them better but comes at the expense of assets the Bulls need. I thought it was just 30 days that he couldn't be traded. Oh I could be wrong. Perhaps the rules changed over the last CBA, or possibly that's the case with incoming rookies vs. veteran FA signings.

    You're dreaming. I think it would have to include Gibson, Mirotic and Butler to come close to Cleveland. Gibson, Butler, McDermott, Sac 1st, Chi 1st and the rights to the Serbian assassin we just got or Wiggins straight up? OK yeah I'd almost certainly take Wiggins still.

    I remember when we were trying to get Headley after his 2012 season, where he had a .937 OPS on the road. He was a freaking 6.3 WAR player that year and finished 5th in MVP balloting. Strangely enough, he's actually had worse numbers on the road than at Petco the last 2 seasons.

    Most loaded the Cubs have been in 30 years? Was the system more loaded circa 1984ish? Dunston, Palmeiro, Grace, Carter...anyone else? Of course I can only recall the hits, so there were potentially more talented prospects that didn't pan out.

    Schwarber is a stretch at this early point in his professional career, but Alcantara was 18 in the BP midseason rankings. Well regardless, I included them to make it an even 6.

    So lets play the game, 6 top prospects who have are top 10 or have top 10 potential (Baez, Bryant, Soler, Russell, Schwarber, Alcantara), which 2 become All Stars, which 2 become solid starters and which two underwhelm? All Stars: Bryant, Soler Solid Regulars: Schwarber, Russell Underwhelm: Baez, Alcantara I don't want to put Alcantara there, and I definitely didnt want to put Baez there. That hurt.

    It's a bit odd to see that we have almost as much committed to the 2019 roster as we do to 2015 (~4m difference)

    even though the cubs have acknowledged they have money to spend in the offseason, I can already see all the momentum going towards the Cubs making Lester their FA centerpiece and then getting outbid from a team like the Yankees that ridiculously overpays.

    For those who are smarter than me, looking at the big Royals prospects from a few years ago, it looks like they are all disappointing MLB players. Myers still has time before I'd label him a bust, Hosmer had a pretty good year last year, though not to the degree the fans were hoping his ceiling is and has fallen off this year. Moustakas sucks. Anyways, looking at their minor league numbers, all 3 of them were tearing it up to a degree just below what Bryant is doing this year. I guess my question is, what makes this Cubs group different if anything (other than just sheer volume of high quality prospects and better coaching/development in Cubs org)?

    I was only 12 in 1995, I don't remember hating any Cubs, they were still all superheroes to me Brant Brown in 1998 taught me hate

    idiotic, wouldnt it have been mutually beneficial for the lakers to have accepted him in a S+T for Gasol? unless i'm missing something in terms of scenarios linked with other moves, isn't it better for LA to pay him less? From LAs perspective it's a large expiring and the Bulls probably would have thrown an asset in to get the deal done. Then again all that would have done is given the bulls the ability to use the MLE and LLE. The MLE would have gone to mirotic and the LLE would have gone to Hinrich, but I think they would have had another exemption they could have used in that scenario
