What was the score of the Germany-Portugal game when Pepe got the red card? 1-0 or 2-0? Just random thought that USA and Portugal drew each other, both beat Ghana 2-1 on a late goal after blowing a lead. The Germany game was the difference...Portugal played a man down for over half the game and got blown out. USA played them tight and lost 1-0. That idiotic head butt pretty much ruined the WC for Portugal. I guess you can also say the order the games were played in made a big difference as well since Germany was all but through when we played them.

I wanted Stauskas for selfish and basketball reasons but I'm cool with this move. RealGM is widely panning the move even before the Randolph thing was announced and I think that's stupid. Not every white guy who scored a lot at a high mid-major (save the BE last year) is the next Adam Morrison and I think we should give a little respect for the one thing GarPax does consistently well which is draft solid role players outside the top 10. My only problem is that McDermott has this douchebag looking face that annoys me, but if I can learn to love someone who I thought was really a douchebag out of college (Noah) I can get over the douchey face.

Agreed. He basically just called Reinsdorf a cheap Jew. Earlier he made fun of the Cavs because Katz reported that they didn't know who they were taking yet. He's a [expletive] [expletive] and moron; a young Rick Reilly. I was one of Simmons biggest fans circa 2001-2006ish. Him being on TV ruined it for me. It's funny because he used to make fun of the types of TV talking heads that he is, and now he's worse than Kornheiser on MNF or Reilly. I still read his articles but man he is [expletive] ruining this draft coverage, its embarrassing.

It's 4 I thought? First 2 years guaranteed and then 2 team option years follow that. Yeah but after that they can give him a qualifying offer or try to extend him. If he doesn't take the qualifying offer or refuses an extension, he can become a RFA, which in that case, the team can match any offer. So essentially they control him for 5 years, but if he doesnt take the QO, they control him for at least 3 more years (standard post-rookie contract)

This is exactly how we hoped to advance going into the World Cup. Beat Ghana, draw Portugal and not get blown out by Germany and hope tiebreakers fell in our favor. Can't wait for the knockout round

BTW am I right for cheering for Portugal here (at least for 1 goal)? I want to be farther away from a Ghana win. If Portugal gets up multiple goals or the US down then I'be concerned about Portugal advancing.

I was going to point out that the Cubs haven't played a lot of home games compared to pretty much every other team but I'm guessing most of the balloting is done online these days. -
Anthony Rizzo with a .288/.404/.532/.936 line on pace for 37 HR and 95 RBI. He makes old school statistics sexy again. BTW, only 2 Cubs have finished with over 500 PA and a +.900 OPS in the last 9 seasons.

Oh yeah. I'd say we'd be looking at like 90% to advance instead of 76% In that case all we'd need is a Ghana win, a draw or not lose a +5 GD.
