  1. Hope you enjoyed your half season of Scott Feldman Baltimore!
  2. Yeah, they got absolutely crushed. But, those losses were against better teams and Northwestern beat Stanford pretty handily (don't forget: the game ended on a pick that would have easily gone for 6 had going down not been the right play). I don't see how the committee views Stanford (significantly) better in light of that. Now, if they come out and say they've been using computer rankings to inform, I will stand down. But everything they've shared to date has been centered on wins and losses. All that would have done was made the final score not reflective of how close the game was, as it was essentially garbage time. Not trying to downplay the win, which was really good but I don't think the fact that Stanford threw a pick 6 while down 10 and under a minute left should have any effect on NW's CFB playoff ranking.
  3. Didn't realize he'd been this good. Sweet. Take the first 8 games last year and the last 8 games this season and we have a pro bowler!
  4. http://deadspin.com/the-nhl-all-star-game-is-moving-to-3-on-3-1743293516 What in the what?
  5. I have no idea if the committee looks at stuff like this...but in the ELO and FPI computer rankings, they have Stanford at 11th and 11th, while for Northwestern they have them at 29th and 61st respectively.
  6. Honestly. You'd think fans of a franchise that has won 2 titles in the last decade and makes the playoffs every single damn year would have the ability to put things like a largely meaningless award into perspective. The ones that can are also the ones who think Matheny sucks. The baseball's best fans twitter account retweeted some reactions. Honestly most of them were fairly level headed. I get Matheny's case for MOY. I personally think Maddon's case is better but whatever, I don't think its a ridiculous argument. Anyways, the best reactions were the ones from twitter accounts where they previously made "Fire Matheny" tweets within the last year and then yesterday cried about him not getting MOY.
  7. Since this is the quotable Joe Maddon thread, any good quotes from him winning the award yesterday? I didn't see much of anything.
  8. I mean what is their best win? @ Minnesota? They have played a lot of mediocre football and don't pass the eye test to me.
  9. Did he learn a second pitch yet
  10. Congrats Joe! Let's make it 3-3 with Jake winning the Cy Young
  11. When Manning was struggling earlier and the talking heads were discussing, they kept saying Osweiler is better than your average backup QB and is being groomed as Manning's heir apparent, but I didn't see anything on Sunday that impressed me all that much.
  12. Football isn't like baseball. You can't just insert a guy into the lineup and be fine. They need to know the playbook and it takes time. Draft picks are also much more valuable in football since guys contribute to the team the year they are drafted. Anecdotally, football players seem like they are more a product of the system and that perceived value doesn't always translate to a different team. Matt Cassel comes to mind. Right but there are players out there that clearly are elite regardless of the system. Forte is an example, as he's had like 6 offensive systems in his career and has produced throughout. Those players should hypothetically have perceived value, unless they are a 30 year old RB 8 games away from UFA.
  13. Has anyone on the Rams explained yet how Gurley had 15 touches/targets in 59 offensive plays for the Rams (8 touches in their last 12 offensive possessions after 7 in their first 2)? I don't care that they were down big in the 2nd half, it seems insane to take the ball out of your best offensive players hand. Especially because Foles sucked.
  14. Well it is...just not after Nov 3rd.
  15. SportsClubStats has us at 5.5%. It has them at 21.1% if they finish 9-7 and 78.1% if they finish 10-6. Kind of surprising because they are tied with 5 teams and 2 games behind GB and ATL and all 7 of those teams have at least 2 more conference wins than the Bears. Although they hold the tiebreaker over STL and can win the tiebreaker against Washington and TB (and already lost to Seattle and virtually lost to GB, who is 1-1 in the division vs. the Bears 0-3). http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NFL/NFC/NFCNorth/Chicago.html
  16. So weird that I have no idea who I want to start for the Broncos between Osweiler, Manning and Tebow. Actually its between Manning and Tebow.
  17. are you talking about the golden tate play? I don't remember, although I suspect it was Detroit It was detroit If that's the case, it was called a TD on the field, reviewed and then overturned.
  18. Goal in 7 straight games and him and Panarin are really clicking
  19. If you consider the Bears as decent, the Vikings don't have an easy game the rest of the year. Still have 2 against the Packers, 1 against Bears, Cardinals, Seahawks, Falcons and Giants
  20. Part of me wants to say that the Bears have played 5 games that would have gone either way and they are 3-2 in those games. So in that regard I guess it could be worse. It's difficult to say that the Bears should win every single close game. But then I remember those stupid games they lost and there is just no way they should have lost them. Also why did all 3 of the close games they won have to be AFC games while the 2 they lost division games. If we lost to Oakland and Kansas City while beating Detroit and Minnesota we'd still be looking ok even at 4-5
  21. Bears have only won 2 in a row
  22. Emotionally it's really tough to move on from Forte after the year. But having someone like Langford waiting to take the starting job makes a lot easier than cut the cord.
  23. Lions straight up choking this game away
  24. Seriously I'm in a 12 team league that starts 3 RBs and my RBs are Gurley, Lynch, Langford and Starks
