  1. Ended up with Hyde, which is pretty good considering I was #6 on the waiver wire. The shitty thing is that he might not play this week but should help in the playoffs, which I've already clinched.
  2. that's exactly right. looks like it would fit right in at lutheran general. maybe some ivy on the exterior would help. a redder brick would help too. My facade/enclosure company provided some material to the Lutheran General Hospital. Very sexy project from several years ago... http://www.powerconstruction.net/sites/default/files/project/primary/Power-Construction---Lutheran-General-Womens-and-Childrens-Hospital.jpg Im mad that it doesn't look like the hospital I was born in anymore.
  3. untrue parenthetical valid point. i thought the game was fairly evenly played, i was mostly going off of high level statistics which you've just debunked.
  4. That would be awesome if we could see him in action this year.
  5. Even all that considered, the only loss amongst playoff contenders that is worse is Texas over Oklahoma. But I agree, MSU shouldn't have actually lost to Nebraska, they got screwed there. But then again they probably should have lost to Michigan (yes I know MSU outplayed them statistically, but at the end of the day it took a botched special teams play and improbable return to win and there were some...interesting calls in that game as well)
  6. When your best pitcher is 2 years away from free agency, and some of your core will start getting more expensive at the same time, it makes sense that there's a certain "window" for the iteration of this team. Having a 2 year "window" doesn't mean they'll immediately start rebuilding again. If you look at the Blackhawks they've had multiple windows of contention despite having the same championship core over the last 8 seasons. At the same time that is a weird term to use, especially in a league that doesn't have a salary cap and a team that shouldn't have any issues spending at the same level as the top 5-7 teams in the league.
  7. OK I need advice on prioritizing waiver claims My 12 team league starts 3 RBs every week. The last few weeks I've been starting Gurley, Lynch, Langford with Starks on the bench. Starks has been demoted, Langford appears ready to go back to RB2 with Forte coming back, and Lynch might be out for the year...so instead of an incredible strength I'm now fucked. The good news is that there are literally 6 RBs I can pick up on the waivers that will likely start for a period of either 1 week or the rest of the season. I need help prioritizing my waiver claims. I am #6 in waiver priority, so I will get 1 of the 6, but I'm hoping I get one of the top 4. Choices are: -Thomas Rawls (if Lynch is out for the year obvious must add, but if he's miraculously not out for the year then its a bad pickup for me since it doesn't fill my RB3 spot) -Spencer Ware (how injured is West? If its bad its a great move, if not again its a bad pickup) -Javorious Allen (the guy he's replacing is the most injuried out of all 6 choices, but he was pretty mediocre in backing up Forsett) -Carlos Hyde (should be back next week or the week after...inexplicably on the waiver wire in this very deep league) -Ahmad Bradshaw (If Gore is out multiple weeks a good pickup if not a particularly great player) -Tevin Coleman (the guy I least want to pick up, looks like Freeman had a minor concussion and might be back next week) I have to put my claims in by midnight tonight...any advice?? I can also drop starks and pick up a second but not sure how to stagger my waiver priority to maximize my chances of getting 2 guys.
  8. I think Pace has a stated goal to not spend heavily on top FAs. He wants to build through the draft.
  9. Not so fun fact: The Bears are 1-11 in their last 12 divisional games
  10. DePaul with a huge 4 point win over Norfolk State to improve to 2-3 Ugh gonna be a long year
  11. Meh. Would love him but doesn't make or break the offseason
  12. Yeah hes #1 in targets by a wide margin, although Jeffery would be #1 if he played more than 50% of the teams games. All that said I could easily see him being gone after the season.
  13. Interesting....doesn't necessarily mean they are sold on him, just that they are more sold on him than Jimmy Clausen.
  14. He can't be on the verge of getting one of those elite WR contracts, right? If not, his cap hit should be much lower if they sign him to a longterm deal instead of franchise tagging him. I could see him getting one. He plays like a top 5 receiver when he's healthy. Obviously the amount of different injuries he's suffered and the slower than expected return times are a concern, but its free agency, it only takes one stupid team to throw a ridiculous contract at him.
  15. I really don't see a way the Bears let Alshon walk after the year. Kevin White is obviously a great talent but he hasn't played an NFL game yet. If the Bears are trying to rebuild quickly and potentially compete for the playoffs next year (and certainly based on what we've seen from the coaching this year and whats looking like a pretty good 2015 draft, this is the way to go) they can't afford to let him go with no proven WRs on the roster. I am horrible at NFL cap but I think the Bears should have the space to franchise him if necessary.
  16. Every game that Jay has started and finished has been ended up either a Bears victory or within 1 score of winning, so I feel good that this will at least be a competitive game. Bears playoff odds are low after yesterday, but if they could somehow win this, they'd have a fairly favorable schedule the rest of the year, but no margin for error.
  17. I'm operating under these assumptions. -Bama is the only 2 loss team I could see ahead of UM, and I wouldn't be shocked to see UM ahead of them. -A Big Ten Champ Michigan will be the top ranked Big Ten team. -Oklahoma is the only 1 loss Big 12 team I'm certain would finish ahead of Michigan. Really winning the Big Ten is the toughest part of the equation. Do that, and a Clemson ACC Title(or the incredibly unlikely 2 game losing streak) paired with a Stanford win over ND should do it. That's a good point. I was slightly worried about Stanford considering they were as of last week ranked higher than UM, but if both teams won out, Michigan winning at home over OSU and neutral vs. Iowa is more impressive than Stanford winning at home over ND and neutral vs. USC/UCLA. Their losses are fairly similar (UM home to MSU, at Utah against Stanford at Northwestern and home against Oregon), but their only common opponent is Northwestern, who Michigan killed and Stanford lost to (I think Utah is eliminated from P12 south championship already). Plus Stanford beating ND would open up the spot that ND has in the playoff. Anyways its a still a pipe dream unless the Big Ten results fall in UMs favor this weekend.
  18. Trying to see if there is any case left to get Michigan into the playoff. Beyond the much more difficult road to Indy, the MSU win also sucks because beating OSU is a lesser win now. What I'm guessing they would need: UM over OSU PSU over MSU Iowa over Nebraska (they can't lose this) UM over Iowa Clemson over UNC (concede spot 1 to Clemson so that UNC isn't a threat) Ok St over Oklahoma (think 2 loss Michigan can get in over 1 loss Ok St..at least more likely than 1 loss OU) TCU over Baylor Alabama should probably beat Florida too unless Florida loses to FSU. I could easily see them taking 2 loss Bama over UM to get 2 SEC teams in there. Also I would probably say ND over Stanford. If Stanford were to win they might be the higher regarded 2 loss team This would likely put Michigan over MSU (hurt from not making BTT), Oklahoma (fresh loss to Ok St), OSU (2 straight losses and no BTT) and Florida (fresh loss and hasn't looked all that impressive). Clemson and Alabama would be playoff locks meaning UM would be competing with: 1 loss ND (very likely in) 1 loss Ok St 1 loss Iowa (who they just beat) 2 loss Baylor In this scenario they could get in based on 2 very good wins to close the season, and general committee hatred for the Big 12. Also I realize no one cares and will say Michigan has next to no shot. This is true..I just wanted to use this space to map it all out and heck I'm just excited that I can even talk about UM and playoffs this late in the season for the first time since 2006 (and by playoff I mean NC game back then)
  19. Shark-Lackey would be ok to me. I was thinking worst case we can be active at the deadline if either of them don't pan out as we would hypothetically hold onto our position player assets. Getting Price would be amazing but it does seem to make sense to get 2 starters for the price of a Price.
  20. That was just as idiotic and for the record I was against going for it as soon as they started lining up for the play
  21. i wasn't going to bother the first time you said it, but since this makes twice... who is to say any of that would've played out the same had he kicked, especially since not kicking resulted in them getting the ball where they did? it probably wouldn't have. going for the TD was fine. Yes yes butterfly effect. That comment was mostly emotional reaction but I definitely don't think going for a TD was fine there. If it was a 7 point game fine, if they were 1-2 yards out fine. But it was an 8 point game and 4 yards out. If they kick a FG the following happens: -An opponent FG keeps it a 1 possession game -if you stop them you can win with a TD but if you fail to convert, you are left with needing a TD and 2 pointer and any opponent score ends the game. The Bears were in a spot on the field where it's probably too far to run it, so you are looking to score against the best secondary in the NFL. I'd like to see the probability chart or whatever it is for sure because I'm obviously not certain if I'm right, it just strongly makes logical sense to me. Because Fox gave up the 3 points he put himself in a situation where he had one shot at gaining 2 yards for a tie game and they didn't get it.
  22. That SEC commenter dude that goes on ESPN said that Bama should be #1 over Clemson because they destroyed their cupcake FCS team when their other conference breathen struggled and/or lost to theirs
  23. Funny that the Bears could easily be 7-3 or almost just as easily 1-9
