I used to think that the more the merrier, I am starting to change my mind.I've never understood being bothered by too many teams being allowed to have the opportunity to play in a bowl game. It's not like it lessens the enjoyment of the rose or orange. Let them play. It depends on whether you view a bowl game as a reward for a good season or just an extra game at a neutral site at the end of the year. Mind you the line was blurred long ago but years ago making a bowl game was something to take pride in for all but a handful of blue bloods competing for a national title. Even 10 years ago a non-power 5 conference team making a bowl was an accomplishment. But at the same time teams want to play and schools want to make money so who cares?
You were probably going to a bowl regardless, depending on how the NCAA decided to prioritize 5-7 teams. If academically, I'm assuming IU would be towards the top. congrats though. That offense is too damn good to not play in a bowl.
I think the people that get upset because they believe these teams are exploiting the system they set up. But guess what? Teams are going to find loopholes in any system you come up with just like they did this time, and last time and the time before that.
Also if the only scenario that can realistically get them in occurs (UM over OSU/Iowa, PSU over MSU) they have a 68% chance of getting in. I wonder what the odds are if that scenario occurs and Iowa beats Nebraska this weekend.
