  1. Dan Weiderer is reporting that the Bears will not play Kevin White this season
  2. 61 and rain, just like you'd expect for a game at Soldier Field in mid-December.
  3. he has to be added to the active roster or go on IR before the game right? Or not until next week?
  4. I always remember Bobby Witt because I had a baseball card with him and Mark Langston celebrating their respective no hitters one season.
  5. You only pretended to be someone else once, right? you mean at nsbb. not daydreaming during quiet afternoons of baseball mogul marathons, right? is baseball mogul still a thing? Oh come on don't tell me you aren't working on the 3025 Cubs right now.
  6. They've turned a lot of pitchers of varying skill into better pitchers over the last several years. Their pitching coach is pretty good.
  7. He should have been fired before he even finished that sentence.
  8. I'd be more worried if we didn't have guys like Cahill and Warren and possibly Wood to step in if he falters. Part of me still believes that a chunk of the reason Hammel was so ineffective was due to his hammy injury. After that point, he was never the same, took a long time getting warmed up in games, and rarely was extended past the 5th inning even when pitching relatively well. So I hold out hope that he comes into camp healthy and surprises people.
  9. That seems odd to me. You would be unhappy if the Cubs signed Heyward and then went into the season with basically the same line up as last year, minus Fowler and Castro and plus Heyward, Zobrist and Lackey? I'm all for benching him until August so we get his 3 productive months at the right time.
  10. If a Yankees perspective matters, the feedback I've seen on the trade from their blogs is that they definitely hate to lose Warren, but they have absolutely no objections to the trade and some think they semi-fleeced the Cubs (or at least feel like they took advantage of the Cubs preceived need to dump salary). Especially when you factor in the Cubs taking back Ryan, who was basically Aaron Miles circa 2009 for them.
  11. If we added Heyward, I think it would break TT's projected Wins spreadsheet more than if you tried to add Bryan LaHair.
  12. I also keep reading that they asked the Cubs for Bryant. I don't care if it was just them high balling the Cubs and weren't seriously expecting the Cubs to trade Bryant, I still reserve the right to laugh and mock them.
  13. i kinda thought it was weird when maddon made those really positive comments about javy and soler specifically today (when asked - though it's obviously not crazy for teams to talk guys up when trade talks are going on)...now i think he knew the wheels were in motion on this. right this second, i'm inclined to think both are here next year. You're wrong the wheels weren't in motion - they had already stopped Makes sense. Jesse was saying the Cubs would likely have a deal last night and when called out this afternoon he said give it 6 hours
  14. Compare Baez's K rate to Zobrist and Castro's walk rate/OBP to Zobrist Do good contact hitters generally lose that ability as they get older and their bat slows or does it depend on the guy?
  15. Now I'm mad the Cubs didn't get more for shark
  16. I read somewhere on Twitter that the Braves were asking for names like Bryant in exchange for Miller so this doesn't surprise me.
  17. Stop trying to steal our thunder assholes
  18. Please give us at least 2 very good seasons before falling off a cliff.
  19. I'm guessing the FO values his contact ability among other things. Saw on Twitter that he had the 11th best contact rate in baseball last year
  20. Trading Castro to sign anyone other than Heyward is dumb at this point. To sign Zobrist is a complete head-scratcher. I don't think this would be something that takes them off Heyward. I think it's just them trying to upgrade 2B. At a cost of $9M in payroll
  21. Word from Nashville is Zorbrist is close to an agreement with the Cubs to play second base. thanks! (CR, David, Tim) i feel...conflicted (#toonster) on this. but excited to see how this all plays out and i trust this FO completely. Look, I love the FO as much as the next guy, but I don't completely trust them on big time FA transactions.
