  1. Yeah I think Chicago is in a tier below the warm weather cities + New York. I believe like you said it's difficult for the Bulls to pull a marquee FA unless they are from here, especially with the players coming into the NBA never witnessing the dynasty years. That said, I believe that Chicago is attractive enough to 1) not lose any of their own drafted superstars, 2) be a place a superstar would accept or even leverage a trade to under most circumstances and 3) be a legitimate option for a superstar to come in FA if all the other pieces are in place. Not ideal but better than at least 20 other NBA markets. Cities like Milwaukee, Cleveland, Toronto etc need an act of God (aka best player of their generation is from there) to win a championship.
  2. Why wait? Sign someone this offseason. They'll have the money. So will like 20 others teams. Have to sell coveted FAs that Chicago is the best situation for them. Not saying it's not a good destination just that there will be a lot of competition for any FA they desire.
  3. Concerns about a rotation that I believe is projected to have one of the highest WARs in baseball. As far as innings, Jake is the only one I'm slightly worried about given his significant increase last year. But even a 10% worse Jake is like a top 10 starter. Lester and Lackey have already made their adjustments to combat age related decline in stuff years ago. Lackey was the Cardinals best pitcher last year and is replacing Dan Haren in a rotation that won 97 games and went to the NLCS. And I don't think anyone should complain about having a #4 starter that had a 3.36 FIP in his first full season last year. And our number 5 starter was in consideration for the all star game last year and whose numbers coincidentally dropped after suffering a leg injury that lingered. Yeah I think our rotation will be fine and if parts falter the FO has already hinted that they will explore moves at the deadline.
  4. I'd say haha stupid Cardinals fans lost their football team but from what I understand, no one gave a [expletive] about them anyways
  5. No levert, no problem
  6. When you have 2 of the top 5 players on Earth and evaluate talent well, it's going to be hard to be anything less. I've only seen them a couple times this year, but I think they are more explosive than they may have ever been. At times, yes, but there have been stretches where Kane's line was the only one scoring. Toews and Hossa are both having sub par seasons for them. Shaw is not the answer on the top line and the bottom pair on defense ranges from barely adequate to awful. Don't get me wrong, it's been a lot of fun to see them beat up on teams lately. To repeat, they're going to need another defenseman and a real solution at 1LW. How much do they have to work with because of the Kuger injury and Scuderi trade?
  7. I almost made a comment about wondering whether he's visited his oncologist lately but decided against it.
  8. [tweet] [/tweet]
  9. One of the weird things I have always wanted to see is a Wild Card team hosting a playoff game. I absolutely don't want the Packers to win but if they did there'd be 4 wild card teams playing and a chance, especially in the AFC
  10. hes gonna mow us down when he comes in to get some work in down 13-4 in the final game of each series.
  11. No words
  12. I just told my wife (who is a Bengals fan) "well if you are going to end a long drought, that's the way to do it". Seconds later "yep this is going to be such a Bengals loss"
  13. Chiefs Texans then Steelers Bengals today Seahawks Vikings then Packers Redskins tomorrow I have to say that this has the potential to end disasterously for Andy Dalton. I could totally see the Bengals sneaking out a win at home today and have Dalton return on the road against NE and get blown out. End result is the Bengals finally win a playoff game but Dalton is now 0-5 in the playoffs.
  14. It's amazing that the board is broken to the point where it kickstart out every time we make a post and it seems like board activity has stayed consistent.
  15. Has he dunked once this year? The game against OKC on Christmas, they originally credited him for a dunk on a layup, but took it away from him. I just wish he would be able to do what he did last night on a consistent basis. He still hasn't lost any of his speed from all of the knee surgeries -- just be more aggressive. I wish he could too but I think that's the problem. Physically he can't do that 82 games plus playoffs. He will have his moments where he can be electrifying but it's not going to be every night. Maybe I'll be proven wrong.
  16. How is it possible that 2 voters could seem David Eckstein as worthy of the HOF?
  17. Detroit was the original San Francisco (Barry Sanders)
  18. Is Gordon really that key to them? He seems more like a nice guy to have around to a disinterested observer. Though it is meaningful that anyone who could walk didn't. I mean he's averaged 5.5 wins over the last 5 seasons and that number is being held down by 2.8 wins over 104 games last year. Obviously age is a factor but based on his last 5 seasons he's certainly a key piece of their team.
  19. Ahh good stuff. Guess I shouldn't be too happy for the cute little Royals anymore after 2 pennants and a title, but its good to see them able to re-sign their key free agents and keep their team going strong.
  20. If you hold your hand over everything below his eyes, he looks like Anthony Rizzo
  21. I wonder if he's interested in coaching again this year. Do one of the playoff teams have an opening?
  22. He has interviews with the Browns and Dolphins this week as well.
  23. The best value in could see for Rose is something like Rose for Joe Johnson where a team going nowhere accepts an extra year of a younger player who they think is worth a gamble for his upside. The Bulls in turn would get out of their bad contract a year early.
  24. Freaking awesome.
  25. And looking like Brandon Marshall will still have never made the playoffs. And on 2 different teams that finished 10-6 and didn't make it. Meh on Marshall as a person but I would have liked to have seen what he could do in a playoff game.
