  1. That wouldn't be a bad scenario for the Cubs. Dodgers and Pirates would have to play a WC2 tiebreaker and then have to turn around and play the WC game before facing us.
  2. [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. He certainly has major flaws but at a school like Purdue you aren't going to find better. Yeah what a crummy program. I hear their women's team is pretty good
  4. I am the master of hyperbole so grain of salt but that was one of the biggest non-Tourney wins in the Beilein era. I haven't even hit send yet and I'm already backtracking but it was a pretty big win.
  5. Woo hoo. I've never seen a team I root for host an all star game. Was too young for Bulls in 88, Cubs in 90, Hawks in 91. By 2020, the Cubs will have hosted 1 ASG in the previous 58 years
  6. Hell yeah looks like Caris LeVert is coming back today against Purdue. Perfect time as UMs RPI has slipped to around 60 and they are about to start a really tough stretch to finish the season (games vs Purdue, @ OSU, @ MD, vs NW, @ Wis, vs Iowa). Think we need to win 3 of those to feel relatively safe at 21-10 (11-7). At 20-11 (10-8) I think we might need to get to Saturday of BTT to be safe.
  7. 30 for 30 meant 30 episodes/documentaries for ESPN's 30 year anniversary...but then they just kept the title for the subsequent volumes/seasons even though it wasn't the 30th anniversary before but yeah that does seem way too long It's apparently going to be aired as five 2-hour episodes (with commercials), and debuted at Sundance. Very well received. Should just make this season 2 of Making a Murderer
  8. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14765182/matt-forte-says-re-signed-chicago-bears Forte was told the Bears would not attempt to resign him. Sad, he seemed like he really wanted to be back. He might have taken a role where he split carries.
  9. Omg who cares that the Bulls suck, this is awesome [tweet]https://twitter.com/_marcusd_/status/697594216545959936[/tweet]
  10. Hell I'd pay 2/$20m for Fowler to simply be Soler's injury and cold weather replacement, and play 4th OF the rest of the time. I bet we could get him 300+ PAs in that role and really open up our options at the trade deadline. I doubt he'd sign on for that role though, and really he deserves better.
  11. Yeah Green Bay is the extreme side of it. I do believe that the best plan for long term success is to build more through the draft but make smart FA signings. Like McPhee was a relatively unheralded FA signing that paid big dividends. You aren't always going to find Pro Bowl quality starters on the cheap in FA, but more moves like that and less Jared Allen type signings. Occasionally you are just going to have a hole or holes you need an impact player in and might have to overpay for a premiere FA but if you are drafting well enough you should be able to make that signing without killing your cap space.
  12. To win a SB as a coach of a team he won a SB with as a player. Nah he played for the Broncos in the 80s who were 0-3 in the SB with him on the roster. He did amazingly play in 2 of those games, both at the end of blowouts.
  13. Played in a super bowl for Ok well Ditka played in and won an NFL championship game with the Bears. I hate how the pre-Super Bowl years are barely acknowledged as anything by a majority of the NFL world.
  14. http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6g0io4QKH1qcqv7c.gif They were punting on first down basically for the whole fourth quarter. They are lucky Von Miller and their defense bailed them out. Haven't seen a team win a super bowl without attempting to play offense. Who the hell cares? They played it conservative because they knew it would work. That said its kind of crazy that the Broncos won the SB despite being outgained 315-194
  15. Did anyone catch Nantz say to Kubiak that he is the first coach to win a SB with the team he played for? Umm Ditka?
  16. Meh oh well I'm enjoying his farewell title.
  17. Riverboat Ron doesn't need challenges the last 70% of the game! Edit: real answer, while I'm not saying it's a good idea to use both challenges early in the 2nd quarter, at least these days you are still protected on all scores, turnovers and the last 2 minutes of the game.
  18. Denver's defense is legit.
  19. Dammit Caris, your mysterious injury is killing UM right about now
  20. Where is this revisionist history [expletive] about the Bulls always playing hard under Thibs last year coming from? This is the exact same horsefeathers they were doing last year. Losing to bad teams, uncharacteristically breaking down defensively, effort questioned, chemistry questioned. They even had a nearly identical stretch of malice in Jan-Feb last year as well. I think this team, while possessing talent, is just poorly constructed.
  21. Pray for Jimmy
  22. At least we all can agree on 1 thing, 3-on-3 OT is still better than college football OT.
  23. lol Brandon Marshall tells Rich Eisen he hasn't spoken to Jay Cutler is "almost 2 years" http://deadspin.com/brandon-marshall-says-he-hasnt-talked-to-jay-cutler-in-1757300319
  24. If you can't compete on the scoreboard, compete on the....videoboard? and of course earlier this offseason:
