  1. My horsefeathering babies decided that immediately after the game was the best time to both wake up. They have impecible timing.
  2. Ha, whatever I am all for bringing back Logan though
  3. Well, now I kinda want to root for a loss so you can never besmirch another playoff game thread. Dude that just was the set up for the big reveal of goofy faced Lackey. You are better at detecting humor than that, even bad humor.
  4. It sucks that Jake's HR and KB's HR have to go along with Sosa's and K. Wood's in home runs I loved in losing efforts. I don't even have the heart to dig up Pat and Ron's call of them, but if they won I'd probably listen to it on loop all day.
  5. Yep, although just a complete shutdown 1-0 loss to Bumgarner wouldn't have been too bad of a scenario because then you just chalk it up to Bumgarner dominating but hey at least you probably won't see him again and Jake was just as good. This scenario gives me a lot of confidence in the Cubs as a whole but definitely worried about Jake moving forward even though the overall numbers weren't terrible.
  6. He's a veteran enough poster to know when to avoid NSBB like the plague.
  7. So that was some fun postseason baseball last night, wasn't it? Yeah we didn't win but that was a true intense postseason game that had you on the edge of your seat. The kind of drama you dreamed about during those cold winter months. But the Cubs have a problem. A big problem. beliEVEN is alive, the myth of the un-slayable playoff beast is growing stronger. The Cubs need help. They need someone who has been there before, someone who has forced the Giants to walk off the field with their heads down. We need to go out and find the last active pitcher to eliminate the Giants from the postseason. We need this guy: This dude's been slaying the Giants since half our team was in grade school. Look John, we've tolerated you, you weird quirks, your surly attitude, your cancer fleeing. It is clear that you are a giant douchebag. But now you have an opportunity to be our giant douchebag. Go earn your damn jewelry (and get a damn haircut too). I don't want to steal too much of Omar's thunder, but Matt Moore has never faced the Chicago Cubs in his career. In fact, only 1 current Cub has ever stepped to the plate against him, Dexter Fowler, who quarter-donged. He has an xFIP in the high 4's for the season, and is towards the top of the league in hard hit %. Advantage: Cubs Lets do this!
  8. I mean, I was willing to give him a break with Madbum...and even Cueto...but the bullpen and Shark? I guess at least he's moved the runner on a few of his outs. Yeah its not even the getting hits part, although that would help, but his ABs have been of declining quality since game 1. He has such a great eye normally and can put a lot of pressure on the pitcher but it seems like every AB starts down 1-2 or 0-2 lately.
  9. I can't tell if he's pressing or just going through one of the stretches he has where his pitch selection randomly goes to horsefeathers. The offense was overall ok despite going 8 innings with 1 hit (Bryant HR) but they don't seem to be making the relievers work a ton. I don't expect you to get a bunch of walks against Bumgarner (although they obviously made him work quite a bit) but you can't let these relievers off that easily. Or at least that's my hot take
  10. I feel like Maddon "overmanages" whenever he goes against Bochy for whatever reason
  11. Sure would be great to get a hit. Or a baserunner. Please guys!
  12. Ok guess we have Edwards for the 13th or 14th. Would be nice if we only needed him for 13th. After that...Hendricks? Lackey? Lester? Ross?
  13. Monty going through the heart of the order again? Gonna get my pillow reasy
  14. Ok [expletive] then we line around the field and their fielders keep catching it
  15. Cubs have 1 hit since the 4th inning (obviously a huge one)
  16. Ok let's just keep lining it at people. Save us Kris
  17. How many innings are we away from David Ross getting the win in relief?
