  1. Jakes like: guys I'll take care of the hitting, pitching and fielding. I got this.
  2. Don't get too excited we're still in the heart of the Giants order. Like for instance here's their 5 hitter, Connor Gillaspe
  3. Maybe you shouldn't have let MadBum throw the 9th inning of the WC game with a 3 run lead to run up his PC to 119
  4. Holy horsefeathering horsefeathers. Fred is up there working magic!!
  5. Dammit. That gets through and possibly a run is scored. Now we got miggy vs lefty and pitcher
  6. I mean...this is why they've been limiting the starters to ~100 pitches for the past 6 weeks right?
  7. Starting to worry about him throwing too many pitches. Oh wait we have a super pen
  8. Damn. Posey is such a pest. Wastes 6-7 pitches and then singles
  9. Great stuff tonight but if what Smoltz is saying is true, command may be an issue.
  10. Pagan is 5-11 lifetime against Jake, by far best on team
  11. Pagan scratched. Conor Gillespe is your new Giants 5 hitter. Blanco hitting 8th
  12. And him and Jake matched up last month at Wrigley. He was good but hittable. Scored 2 runs in 7 innings I believe bit Jake gave up 3 and took the L. He also completely shut us down in SF last year IRRC. doesn't matter though today is a different day That September game featured Rizzo on a day off and Hail Ceaser starting in the OF GEORGIE DONT PLAY THAT Well he did PH in that game against MadBum and strike out
  13. we faced him on a Sunday night loaded the bases in 1st didnt score got beat 1-0 Ah, yeah, that rings a bell. And him and Jake matched up last month at Wrigley. He was good but hittable. Scored 2 runs in 7 innings I believe bit Jake gave up 3 and took the L. He also completely shut us down in SF last year IRRC. doesn't matter though today is a different day
  14. Seriously, at this rate the game will overlap with ours
  15. Heck even if it's a pop fly to the middle of the OF, I demand that Javy flip his bat and trot to first in the most grating way possible. Bonus points if he stares down Bum as he trots to first
  16. I will admit it is quite a change to see the board flipping out about not having the optimal defensive lineup in there. We've really bought into it.
  17. Careful what you wish for I know, but I'd much rather play the Nats than the Dodgers.
  18. Yep, robbed Posey. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/6479266/v719292083
  19. Guessing his reasoning: -Jake allows a lot of ground balls (7th in NL in GB/FB), IF defense is more important in this one than OF defense. Riz, Javy, Addy, KB is our optimal defensive infield (and happens to also be insanely good offensively especially against a lefty) -Jake also allows a miniscule amount of hard contact. If it goes into the OF, chances are its a weak fly ball. -The overall idea is to score some runs with the optimal offensive lineup (save Miggy/Contreras) and then lock it down with defensive replacements It's not a terrible strategy although I reserve the right to flip my horsefeathers if Georgie misplays one in LF.
  20. So lets play guess the lineup Fowler 8 Bryant 5 Rizzo 3 Zobrist 9 Soler 7 Baez 4 Russell 6 Montero 2 Arrieta 1 Edit: Dammit was off. Swap Soler and Zo, as well as Javy and Addy
  21. Soler in and no Heyward. Really hope we dont have any OF adventures
  22. On the other hand, splits mean nothing when he's also hitting RHP better than Heyward. Start Almora. I just think that we are assuming that replacing Heyward with Almora gives you the exact same defender. Almora is a fantastic fielder but Heyward has the instincts and experience from being a visitor playing here for 7 seasons. There are a lot of quirks on that side of the field that make it less than ideal for someone making their first start, in the postseason in a likely low scoring game. What are the chances that one of those quirks come into play? I don't know. I just know I'd feel more comfortable with Heyward in there, but at the same time wouldn't be THAT upset if it was Almora.
  23. Almora is extremely bipolar when it comes to L/R splits in the minors 2016 (minors) OPS v R: .784 (233 AB) OPS v L: .598 (87 AB) 2015 OPS v R: .681 (315 AB) OPS v L: .876 (90 AB) 2014 (AA) OPS v R: .638 (118 AB) OPS v L: .435 (23 AB) 2014 (A+) OPS v R: .689 (254 AB) OPS v L: .764 (113 AB) Not sure if we can tell anything by those splits
  24. This would be a huge tiny mistake Especially because due to the rainout Rich Hill wouldn't be available in Game 5 on regular rest as he normally would so you are either starting Hill on short rest or you are having your Urias/bullpen game anyways.
