  1. YES. He made some adjustments. the stance is basically the same but his posture is better he isnt dropping his right shoulder.. still, he needs to tweak the angle just a tad to hit more liners. he has had a lot of moonshot barely over the fence homers at home. he doesn't get the same luxury on the road in most cases. still i've said all along he is a great player. but he can be even better, which is scary. It took me a few sentences to realize you weren't actually critiquing the 12 year old. It wasn't until two POSTS later that I realized he was indeed sontensei actually critiquing Bryant and not hogg breaking down his son's swing. Unreal.
  2. can't a trainer usually identify a broken bone in the hand right away? Olt knows better.
  3. Just for the sake of argument, maybe the guy has 0 power and sucks at hitting, and the book on him is to just pound the zone, and that is why he doesn't have a walk all season?
  4. For those who didn't know, McKinney fouled a ball off his knee and has a hairline fracture, ending his season.

  6. There was this landscaper, who was one of the best landscapers around. He had this on particular skill that he was really proud of. He could look at any job and immediately know exactly how many bags of mulch he would need, without any leftover. One day he was working a job, and he looked at it and said yep this job will take 19 mulch bags. He did the job, and it was phenomenal. It was like the Taj Mahal of landscaping work. He wasn't happy though, because he had one bag of mulch left over. He was distraught and didn't know what to do. As he was driving down the interstate to return the bag of mulch, he decided to throw the bag of mulch out the window in disgust. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IJAME21OIvk/UdskyscKyzI/AAAAAAAARZA/bGYMHcaY5k8/s1600/wtf7.gif some jokes take time. I wouldn't even say I disliked the story. Kinda postmod. But is there something to get? Apart from your name? A local story I'm not privy to or something?

  8. At this point, I'm anticipating the Cubs winning out for the rest of the season, and want to pass the Cards, so GO BUCS!!!
  9. ...I know it has been a lot of rough seasons to pay attention to, but yeah...two wild card spots. Been around since 2012.
  10. I laughed. The sounds of the crowd were the ONLY indication of wtf was going on. How does he still have a job?! I believe he even called Schwarber "Kris."

  12. You could literally order the lineup randomly and it would still be pretty.
  13. There ain't no dumbbells in here; just his balls. Was at a wedding and decided to watch the replay of the game while going over the game thread...I recognized the reference immediately, with the accent in my head and everything, but took me half a minute to understand WHY it happened. Well played.

  15. I enjoyed seeing this bumped for a lot of reasons. And after watching Schwarber look like Willie Mayes compared to the routes Soler has been taking on balls (and seeing him beat out a dead to rights pickoff somehow) ...this idea is far from insane. Cog can be Maddon's new Zobrist and the team will be better for it. I know it's cool to defend Castro from all the meatheads that have been gunning for him his entire career...but he has been beyond aweful this year. Neifi aweful with worse defense. That is not an exaggeration. Ponder that.
  16. I used to really, really hate Pence, but after I watched this, I'm ALMOST a fan:
  17. He's been so bad this season that I kind of hope LaStella and Baez both come up, and we can DFA/release both Castro and Herrera.
  18. This no-power-lost, no-leg-kick version of Javy is...very, very encouraging, possibly even sexy.
  19. Well, a 3 run lead in the 9th isn't exactly a high leverage situation. Motte is actually a guy I'd normally go to there assuming you like the match ups...he just happened to suck really really hard last night. Still not sure why Soriano is on this team. Veteran presence non sense?! Anyhow, just to lighten the mood and maybe keep this from going into a "bullpen sucks" sinkhole: http://www.fangraphs.com/wins.aspx?date=2015-07-27&team=Cubs&dh=0&season=2015
  20. I came here to see censored curses followed by celebratory gifs. Only semi-expected to find....this.
  21. The Kyle Schwarber game was JUST a touch more impressive than the 2014 John Baker game.
  22. And why can't Smoltz figure out that having a good team BA on first pitches does not mean the Cubs actually SWING at the first pitch a lot?
