  1. The later rounds got better: Grady Sizemore, Dontrelle Willis, Brandon Webb, Edwin Encarnacion, Garrett Atkins, Cliff Lee... Hnedry hasn't been good, but I thought you guys were impressed with Harvey when the Cubs got him. It's real easy to second guess. Still, Hendry has a bad record. Doesn't he have to get lucky sometime?
  2. Hey who changed my title to this thread? Big brother is watching...
  3. Someone tell the Cubs they didn't have to break out the pink bats two weeks early.
  4. As an investment, I wonder how much the Cubs gain in profit as a % per year. Didn't Steinbrenner buy the Yankees for $20 million? What are they worth now?
  5. I have $600 million from an inheritance. I want to buy the Cubs. I just want to break even every year like the Angels. I love baseball. So if I overbid by $100 million will the Tribune Co sell the Cubs to me?
  6. Might as well take Kelton out of that list. He has no spot.
  7. Oh yes he was the fourth. They couldn't think of any others since 1983.
  8. How long has he been with this organization? The SCORE was commentating on how few Cub everyday players have panned out. Let's see: Dunston Grace Carter They said that Cedeno looks good but the Cubs have aterrible track record in the area. Much of the blame should go to Jim Hendry. I think the organization as a whole has a bad hitting philosophy.
  9. Fine then buy better, lower priced playes and bring the rookies up. Yes spending more doesn't mean a WS. Spending better does.
  10. Joe Girardi quits and comes to Chicago?
  11. Someone needs to hand out 40,000 brown bags for people to put over their heads in Chicago
  12. Gardenhire number two? No way.
  13. Has Dusty always had fairly good team to manage? He has probbaly never been on a struggling team, at least managing wise. This is uncharted territory for him.
  14. With hsi low .200's average Hairston is no trade bait. Especially after an average 2005.
  15. Z failed them this season. It's reciprocal.
  16. He didn't have Mazzone there to tell him that is he only good at getting righties out
  17. Then let's just shut Wood now for the season. He will probably get hurt anyway. Isn't it about tiem for Tommy John 2? Wait he changed his mechanics! Call me naive, but...he's had his shoulder operated on, his knee operated on, his elbow operated on...he's never needed any one part operated on twice. There's not much left to fix on him. Here's to hoping he's healthy for the rest of his career! *note the key word "hoping..." He will be healthy with another team cause the Cubs aren't paying him next year. But at least his injury is legit. I thought calfzilla would be able to work through his arm pain. I've got some cyberbucks that say Kerry is still a Cub in 2007. Only if he has a great year this year or is willing to take a pay cut. He has to be healthy and good. But when he is healthy he is good, so he just has to be healthy.

  19. Which is why Baker needs to stress fundamentals like Ozzie.
  20. I heard Ozzie Guillen on the radio yesterday. He was ticked and demanded a full-tema practice. Why? Failed bunt attempts. Failed bunt attempts in the AL nontheless where they aren't as important. Dusty doesn't stress fundamentals and it shows. I am not saying Dusty has to be a fiery guy, but he has to stress fundamentals. Maybe when the Cubs play the Sox at the Cell the tema can practice in the FUNdamentals section where the kids do.

  22. Sammy is a lying, filthy cheater who would have been good, but not great without steroids. Why shoudl the Cubs bow down to him? Yes they wer an accomplice in his steroid scandal, but they owe him nothing now and the Cubs deserve better.
  23. OK...he's gotta finish how he started
  24. So wait you are telling me that Selig turned his eyes away form the steroid situation for years to get attendance back up after the strike and now that it is public knowledge that Bonds did them Selig is trying to distance himself from Bonds? Selig screwed the homerun record so it is much too late to make amends. I wonder if Selig will publicly say that he isn't planning a ceremony because of the investigation or because he hasn't gotten Aaron's record yet.
  25. I can't believe that you guys are even thinking about this. Look at his stats last year. The Cubs could pick up another player for less money than Sammy would want and one who isn't a clubhouse cancer. After Sammy left before the game was over that officially burned any bridges he may have tried to cross back on.
