  1. So Bonds initial suit is denied. I bet Selig pressured the judge. If Bonds really takes this to trial, not only will the steroid allegation be affirmed, but the authors will be exhonorated. The only thing that Bonds didn't need is the authors to go to trial and prove to everyone that these allegations are true. Then he really wouldn't make it to the Hall.
  2. ESPN has the lookalikes going and Rex looks like the Big Boy http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/index
  3. I heard that if Griese had played his career with the Bears and had the same stats he does now he would be the best QB in Bears history.
  4. They are not that good? They are better than last year, won 100 gmaes, and lost one stinking game in the playoffs while getting rid of Marte and Frank and picked up Thome and Mackowiak and the SS from Arizona. I would trade the whole darn Cub team and Baker for the Sox and Guillen. They play as a team and play hard. You gotta love that.
  5. I think Frank Thomas had a broken bat homer once too
  6. Is Kyle gone or should they keep Blake? I think Blake is better.
  7. The White Sox are better on paper than they were last year. Barring injuries there is no way they finish in third place.
  8. Any rumors still going on about him? I would keep him. You can't have a strong enough pen.
  9. Any chance the Nats put Vidro on the block and let Soriano play second?
  10. Maybe going to the National League has something to do with it.
  11. Go into paintbrush or photoshop, resize it, save it, and then reload it.
  12. See he is smart. He even reported it.
  13. The ESPN boards. Good days... You think davemason2k is in prison?
  14. 1. Stop this Wade Miller talk. He got nuttin left 2. Would you guys still care about steroids if Clemens came here? You know he has been on HGH :D
  15. I heard it said that Sammy met a guy in the DR at a hotel, gave him 10k, and left with a brown paper bag. Honestly I heard that on the radio. Can anyone confirm it? It's weird cause Sammy isn't the smartest person in the world, yet he has gotten away wiht it the longest. Maybe he just plays dumb.
  16. The only reason Hermanson lost the closing job is because he wasn't healthy. He had a 0.00 ERA for nearly half the season! He was unhittable. So don't throw those pen stats out for Hermanson because last year he was great. Guillen went with the hot hand out of the pen and handed the closer spot to Jenks as a result. Let's also remember that Wood has been abused, but it's not all Dusty's fault. Wood knows he has had bad mechanics when his arm blew out the first time. But he never changed. Yes Dusty overextends his pitchers, and although I can't blame him for it in 2003, Dusty doesn't deserve all the flak. Wood would throw 100 pitches in five innings so he couldn't blow his pen everytime Wood would have to leave before they stop serving beer.
  17. You and I both know that Schneider is regarded as one of the best trainers in baseball. No pitcher is 100% healthy after about the first two months of the season anyway. Hermanson had a bad back before last year. If you are telling me that a guy had a back condition for years before the WS, pitched one inning in the WS and now his back is still hurting and the reason it is is because he was used in the WS when he was hurt #1) I don't think Hermanson would care because it was the WS and no one cared that the Sox pitchers pitched four complete games in a row because it is the WS #2) are you crazy?
  18. True, but I think he deserves credit for giving the Dusty the benefit of the doubt, but not forever. His last sentence in this morning's column synthesized the issue very well - Guillen's SPs through more than 120 pitches 5 times all of last year. Guillen understands how to manage his assets; Dusty does not. Well said. Before we start giving Guillen the "credit" he doesn't deserve let's also remember that he pitched an injured Hermanson in the playoffs (and at various times during the season) and now he's injured again this Spring. Why didn't the wise Ozzie know that Dustin needed to be shut down (for that matter, why didn't Herm Schneider)? Herm Schneider is one of the best trainers in baseball. The Sox shut down Hermanson for at least the last third of the season. If you ask Dustin, he probably wanted to pitch rather badly in the WS, even if that furthered his injury. Backs flare up and I doubt his pitching an inning or two in the WS is the cause of his condition right now.
  19. What if the Cubs would have won the World Series in 2003. Woudl you haev a different feeling sbout Wood and Prior being consistently hurt now?
  20. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-060314rogers,1,1678886.column?coll=cs-home-utility According to Rogers, Guillen only let his pitchers go over 120 pitches five times last year. Baker has consistently let his pitchers throw over 120 pitches which has resulted in Prior and Wood being injured (yet Zambrano throws just a smany pitches as either of them). I don't think he mentioned that Woody has always had bad mechanics and that, at least according to UK, Prior's mechanics have fallen a little since he first began with the Cubs. I wonder how much Prior's achilles tendon injury in ST two years ago and his broken arm have messed with his motion. Maybe when he injured his achilles he began pitching differently, although slightly, and hasn't reverted back to his old motion. Or maybe they just get hurt a lot.
  21. Where is that guy who said Prior is not an injury threat in his signature?
  22. But he was from Chicago. He was meant to come back. Not really. But that TD pass he threw in the Superbowl was a better pass than Grossman could have made. 40 yarder on the run, perfect placement. And he could have been the third string QB. He couldn't have been worse than Orton. But not for 30 million.
  23. So Randle El signs with Washington who just signed Lloyd. I thought part of the reason he wnated to get out of Pitt is because he didn't get enough passes. Now he might be #2, but he has Lloyd right there with him. Still way too much for his caliber. I think Berrian or Bradley can have better years regardless. The Bears need to draft a TE first round. Then a corner.
  24. This might be what Freud calls wish fulfillment. And I really hope it happens!
