  1. If he has a subpar spring and Neifi does a little better, will Dusty give the starting spot to Neifi?
  2. I hope Barry didn't take that to mean that he himself has to injure himself to get on the roster.
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2362723 Little late?
  4. I wonder if this issue has anythign to do with the idea that in baseball you have to put your dues in before you get to the bigs. Many baseball players go to college first, graduate, then go to the minors, and then the bigs. It's hard to get money quickly. Also, it is hard to get a game of baseball going. Yes you can always throw a ball around, but it is easier and cheaper to play basketball. There are more courts available for basketball too.
  5. Are you aware of how many pitches Wood threw in his first few outings last year?
  6. They won't even give him 90 pitches for his first three outings though
  7. The Tribune said that he threw 90 pitches from a standing position yesterday. What the?
  8. I am really surprised that nothing has come out on Sammy.
  9. Except for the moron constantly banging junk together. That's gotta hurt
  10. After reading Darren's schoolbooks Unfortunately Dusty doesn't understand "the truth" and "baseball fundamentals" and "rookie."
  11. Sounds like you guys have far too easy of a time adding muscle. Please talk to Tyson Chandler and share your secrets.
  12. See, this is my point. I may be totally different from other people (and I may sound like an internet embellisher! :^o ) but I did put on 15 pounds of muscle in 100 days. The spring of my 34th birthday and again the spring of my 35th. That's a total of 30, and I've lost hardly any. I hope to do it again since I turned 36 last Sunday. I tell this because I worked out a lot in the preceeding 7 years and didn't gain a lick. Only when I completely dedicated my diet, lifestyle, and certain lifts did this happen, and it was extremely difficult while working full-time and being a married father of two. But, it did happen and so when people say it's impossible I disagree. Especially in the case of professional athletes with unlimited time, motivation, and money to help with their goals (even if they do it without the juice). Again, I believe Bonds did steroids. What I don't count as proof is that he put on 15 pounds of muscle in the '98 off-season. That on its own does not seal the deal for me. Nor does one picture. All that other stuff in the book excerpt is convincing enough. 1. You didn't mention that you were on steroids :D 2. Barry always worked out hard. You said you worked out harder and were extra dedicated. I doubt Barry was so dedicated that even after being an incredible athlete beforehand he was so dedicated that he gained 15 extra pounds.
  13. Will Smith had been cut in past movies. He can work out hard and look good for a movie. Smith can turn in on and off. But Bonds worked out hard for years and never had the incredible results that he had after 98. Whadya think happened? Oh he just probably worked out extra hard, lost his hair, had back acne, and got a big forehead accidentally.
  14. I don't think it is normal to keep muscle when you stop working out. You are just lucky. Bonds always worked out hard. I'll give him that. But do you find it odd that he just happened to gain 15 pounds of pure muscle in 100 days when he was never able so before? Do you think he worked out harder in the 98 offseason and he was able to hit nearly twice as many homeruns in some years than he was before?
  15. You are right, even if Dusty approached Bonds or the Giants nothing would have happened. Bonds will have proably punched him and the Giants didn't want bad press. The problem is that Dusty had to know something was going on. He still won't admit that he even had a clue.
  16. If there is one standout defensive player he usually get the Gold Glove. Matheny was clearly the best for a while. But if guys are one of two erros apart, then the guy with the best offensive stats gets the Gold Glove. So it sure doesn't hurt to be a good hitter.
  17. http://i.a.cnn.net/si/multimedia/photo_gallery/2006/03/06/bonds.years/2004_017022893.jpg Case closed
  18. What Bonds did was not agaisnt MLB rules at the time. He was a HOF if he had retired after 98. That is why I think he will get in.
  19. From what I have heard and read he was jealous of both.
  20. The Giants did a background check on Anderson and two of Bonds' trainers. They found out that that Anderson was involved in steroids. They didn't want to get Bonds mad. I am not sure if Dusty was notified, but I don't think Dusty is too obtuse not to realize something illegal was going on. ESPN: Despite seeing a big change in Bonds' physical appearance, Giants officials did not challenge their star for fear of upsetting him. "The Giants, from owner Peter Magowan to manager Dusty Baker, had no interest in learning whether Bonds was using steroids, either," the excerpt contends. "Although it was illegal to use the drugs without a prescription, baseball had never banned steroids. Besides, by pursuing the issue, the Giants ran the risk of poisoning their relationship with their touchy superstar -- or, worse, of precipitating a drug scandal the year before the opening of their new ballpark, where Bonds was supposed to be the main gate attraction." According to the excerpt, Anderson told an acquaintance who was wearing a wire in 2003 that: "The whole thing is, everything I've been doing, it's all undetectable. The stuff I have, we created it. You can't buy it anywhere else; you can't get it anywhere else. You can take [it] the day of [a drug test], pee, and it comes up clear. I wonder if that wire testimony was part of the Grand Jury testimony. Who was wearing a wire? Did the Feds do this before the BALCO bust?
  21. But isn't it McGwire and Sosa's fault for taking steroids first and getting Bonds jealous which is why Bonds started taking them? :D Well then it is MLB's fault for not doing serious testing with serious penalties from the mid-90's on. They knew guys were taking them. But they needed the big homerun seasons to re-energize baseball after the strike season.
  22. If Anderson gave Bonds all that stuff without Bonds knowing then why hasn't Bonds sued the heck out of Anderson? Bonds knows that Anderson would tell the truth and Bonds would look even more foolish. Bonds cares too much about his body to take stuff without his knowing about them. I can't believe Conte squealed so easily when the FEDS found out BALCO. I guess he knew he had no chance. But you think they would have covered their tracks a little more. On a side note, I heard a 6 minute interview with Dusty today on the SCORE. George Offman did a nice job of throwing some tough questions to Dusty. Dusty said he has never seen steroids before and thought that Bonds just had worked out extra hard before. He also said that it was Giants management that let Anderson in the clubhouse. The Giants didn't want to expose the Bonds steroid situation right before the opeing of their new park. But Dusty continues to evade questions. He had to know something was going on with Bonds. He did. He just diddn't to find out what it was. And maybe it wasn't his place, btu he had to know something illegal was happening. Bruce Miles, I love your work, but it sounded like you were trying to help Dusty out by saying something like "Dusty do you ever get tired of these questions..." Dusty should start coming clean cause he is only going to look even mroe worse when it all really comes out. Still, MLB does not test for HGH.
  23. His 2,040 hits in his first 10 seasons are the most in baseball history I never knew that
  24. Beck lived at his motorhome when he was at AAA Iowa before going to SD
  25. Hairston has a signed DLee jersey hanging up. That hotle costs $98 a night? A little pricey.
