  1. He's already on the 25-man roster. I believe those are relavent even during the offseason, and he won't be on the DL in the off-season. The Cubs can't just give him a non-roster spring training invitation. I don't know how the 25 man roster would be relevant in the offseason-what happens if 5 people end up on the DL at the end of the season? Does that mean 30 people are on the 25 man roster? I think that the 40 man roster is the only one that is needed during the offseason. I don't believe teams get a DL exemption for the roster in the offseason. I'm pretty sure that at some point early in the offseason the Cubs have to have the 25 man roster set, which might mean sending some guys with options back to minor league rosters, officially, and not offering arbitration to unsigned veterans they want to get rid of. Given that Rusch is signed through next year, is out of options and has enough service time to refuse a minor league assignment, he will count against both the 40-man roster and 25-man roster throughout the offseason, affecting other moves that could theoretically be made. A release would change all that. "Each Major League Baseball team maintains both a 25-man roster and a 40-man roster of players, year-round. The 25-man roster is the list of eligible players who may play in a game. The 40-man roster includes the 25-man roster plus players in the minor leagues as well as players on the 15-day disabled list (see below). From September 1 through the end of the regular season, active rosters are expanded to a limit of 40 players; thus, clubs may freely add any of these 15 players to its active roster, giving them the opportunity to play in the major leagues near the end of the season." Options aren't burnt on September callups, so even if there is a need for a 25 man roster in the offseason,(I don't believe there is, I think year round refers to season round.) options are not burnt.
  2. I didn't think you'd take 8 million solo HR's literally. I didn't. I also know better than to think that Corey has a higher rate of solo HR's than most. Well he didn't think you'd take it literally to mean that Corey hits more solo HRs than usual.
  3. how can his late of discipline "cancel out" his OPS? his lack of discipline is factored into OPS (thru OBP). that's like saying the outs a guy makes cancels out his batting average. Patterson has hit about 8 million solo home runs. I'm going out to eat now, but when I get some time later tonight, I'm gonna check this claim. Something tells me Corey doesn't hit many more solo HRs than anyone else.
  4. Yes, cause that trade is totally why they're in the playoff race. No, but that GM definitely is. And if they don't make the playoffs, it won't be because they don't have Lopez and Kearns. What are the moves Krivsky has made that convinces you he's the reason the Reds are in the playoff race rather than a good base of talent that was there when he got there that's finally doing mediocre enough in a horrible league to contend for a wild card spot.
  5. Austin Kearns and Felipe Lopez for middle relievers....GO!
  6. He was on them back in August of '03.
  7. I wonder how many games in baseball history have had all 25 men get in the game.
  8. 2:20? I'm pretty sure its 1:05 Only by fake Central time. I forgot Central time was 1:15 off.
  9. Can we trade for Geoff Blum in the middle of a game?
  10. Iztruis in the 14th. He was then doubled up with Zambrano. The last runner stranded was in the 10th.
  11. Dusty Baker = Admiral Stockdale?
  12. it's difficult to have sympathy for them. they made their bed, they have to lay in it. they could've become part of a conference long ago, but remaining independant just brings in too much money with no need to share the revenue with other teams. they have a choice, not be so greedy or continue having difficulty getting the at large bid. I don't really think he was complaining about ND's process, just explaining that it's not the cake walk into the BCS that so many antis like to portray it as.
  13. What's the NL going to do once Houston DFAs Preston Wilson?
  14. Sorry, can't find the thread on BTF. A poster having Angel Pagan in his username makes it near impossible to navigate their search function.
  15. You know Maurice Clarett?
  16. I don't have a strong opinion either way, but I was just reading on BTF the other day about how high he rates in one of the defensive metrics. I hate defensive metrics.
  17. I don't believe that Iowa and WSU were auto top 6 bids that year, but my memory may be off. It could also be off as I thought in one of the first few years of the BCS they weren't invited when they could've been.
  18. Except for the 2 times that they were turned down from BCS.
  19. Ironic, considering ND played Michigan last year.
  20. Are you saying that "WMGGW" is not a rock song?? That song has Eric Clapton going apesh*t on the guitar in it. I think it is one of their harder songs. Second, "she came in through the bathroom window" and "mean mr. mustard" are just as hard as most of the stuff the Rolling Stones or The Doors put out during that time. Drums banging, guitars jangling, and bass pumping. Yeah I was really confused by this. I assumed he was listing the songs that people would consider rock, but why the hell are Here Comes the Sun and Ob-La-Di on there. (While neglecting A LOT of others) And as you addressed, it just doesn't seem possible to me to consider While my Guitar Gently Weeps or She Came in Through the Bathroom Window as non-rock.
  21. Beatles, and not particularly close. I can't imagine what people would say if the Beatles referenced Lord of the Rings in their music.
  22. I think Wright should make more cause Adrian Beltre's making 5/64 and Wright's way better than him.
  23. The Dye trade wasn't straight up, it was part of a 3 way sending some worthless junk to Colorado, Dye to Oakland, and expensive worthless junk to KC.
