  1. Cubs take the first 2, and get shut down by a short rested old man Sunday.
  2. No "No Dempster" in the series? So Dempster in the series. I agree.
  3. Who are 3 people I hate and something that comes out of a gun.
  4. I was watching in a bar, so I didn't have the sound on, but was there any particular reason why Ben Wallace and PJ Brown rotted on the bench the 2nd half? While a clearly not healthy Noc played the whole friggin half?
  5. Just checked to see if anything dramatic happened since yesterday - the Cubs still have the best avg. in the NL with RISP. Link For what it's worth, looking at different situational splits the Cubs are only 7th in close and late, but their avg is still .007 above the league average. Shut up nerd.
  6. This statement makes no sense Why? Gammons mentioned it again the other nite after one of the guys cleared the Monster. The ball simply isnt traveling as well to left field these days. The new edition up there has caused some kind of change to the wind direction in Fenway. It was done right before the RedSux won the Championship in 2004. Some say its a coincidence which i can somewhat understand. Some say it was a fundamental change to the pitching staff (which i disagree with. look at the 70s Boston staff of Eck, Torrez, Tiant, and Lee. Pretty hard throwers with good stuff but they were unable to seal the deal.) I think it is the wind dynamics. I do not understand why that makes little sense. Does it magically travel well for the Red Sox and not for the opponent? Why should it matter how a park plays when dealing with how a team fares? And did the Red Sox remove the Monster seats in '05? And then take like 6 feet off the wall in '06 to ensure the Sox wouldn't even make the playoffs?
  7. How bout I have 8 different bosses, some of which I've never met?
  8. Were it only true. Could have used it last night. Flask.
  9. And once again the excuse making came out talking about how the inning shouldn't have even been that far if not for a previous error in the inning. I thought about this thread and that old clip when they said how rare it is that Erstad loses one of those.
  10. ESPN's Wednesday Night game(Red Sox, shocking) was rained out so they had been(I don't know if they switched to just showing the Yankee game now that a New York team is on) moving around to different games showing a few ABs, an inning or so. I don't know how the rights work out involving extra innings and MLB TV but does anyone else think it would be a good idea to do this once a week rather than show the same 6 teams in every primetime game. Do it almost like golf does it where you can always have action going on, show a few ABs here, a few ABs there, it would be a nice way to actually get exposure for the Devil Rays of the world who never get on TV. Additionally it would be a decent way to gain the Attention deficit disorder crowd too. You have so much discussion of speeding up games and you have all the stupid crap at stadiums to keep people occupied. How bout actually occupying a person with nonstop baseball for 3 hours?
  11. charlie manuel might put him in the bullpen and then beat up a reporter that asks why. The guy Manuel went off on deserved it. He's a regular Mariotti.
  12. Looks like a really nice ST facility.
  13. Jones career OPS bases empty: 766 Runners on: 814 RISP: 835 RISP 2 outs: 840 Jeter career OPS runners on: 856 Runners on: 848 RISP: 844 RISP 2 outs: 863 Better check back with Tim McCarver as to how to deal with this. My guess is it involves something to do with a needless dive into the stands.
  14. Seats 9k I believe, and last I heard they were worried they wouldn't sell out. Of course they were charging ridiculous prices for the tickets, but it wasn't a good sign.
  15. It happens. No one knows when. Guys trying to score from 2nd on basehits to LF happens more often.
  16. Have you not watched him in other games? Like last year when he acted like a four year old against the Cardinals? For a guy who's been in the league five years, he really doesn't deal well with adversity Which game? Z gave up 2 runs in every game against St. Louis. He hasn't had a bad game against them since '04.
  17. Games the Bullpen has lost 4 IP, 1 R 2.2 IP, 7 R 8 IP, 2 R 1 IP, 1 R 6.2 IP, 3 R 5.1 IP, 5 R 2 IP, 3 R 9 IP, 1 R 3 IP, 2 R 2 IP, 3 R That's 6 games at most they deserve the loss for, which seems pretty average to me.
  18. I remember how depressing it was when BJ Upton and Scott Kazmir debuted cause they were younger than me. I'm slowly getting over it 3 years later.
  19. Additionally, if Jones is traded it likely means Pie is the new CF.
  20. And by getting rid of all the league minimum guys you'd do what? Go with a 28 man 40 man roster? I'm not sure what you mean. I'd replace Wood with a guy making league minimum and save money for basically the same production. I'd actually rather see the Cubs have more guys making the league minimum and then spend that money on frontline starters rather than overpaying veteran relievers and bench players for the same production. Got ya, I misread it.
  21. Then you need to take out the blowout games of every team.
  22. Floyd/Murton work better in the 2 than in the 5.
  23. And by getting rid of all the league minimum guys you'd do what? Go with a 28 man 40 man roster?
