  1. I tried like hell the past year or so trying to sell Verlander high, and could never get any takers. Maybe I should keep him.
  2. Stop walking Bill Hall!! It's killing my fantasy team.
  3. Seriously why the hell did he barehand that?
  4. If Beltre doesn't pick it you can bet it was a rocket. DeRosa really doesn't get the love he's deserved thus far this year.
  5. I really wanted a blowout so I could go swim tonight. Thanks guys.
  6. Seriously Darin Jackson is having a conversation with himself.
  7. White Sox getting murdered. My TV sucks, so I'm not certain of the score, but only Darin Jackson is talking, so it can't be good for them.
  8. That looked like an obvious balk to me. I don't understand the complaining.
  9. Thank you for not walking an AL pitcher.
  10. Yeah I thought he was safe too. But still props to Izturis on the play.
  11. Betancourt robs Izturis of a 90 foot single.
  12. Izturis up following a walk? A groundout on a 3-1 seems just about guaranteed.
  13. '04 might've been the best team in the last 50 years.
  14. The rally killer label is something that you can blame the saber geeks for in this case. Dunn's Babip is very avg. career wise. He seemingly only walks, k's, and hits HR. Some GMs only really want guys who can put the ball into play....but obviously Hendry isnt one of those guys. Havent looked at it in a while, but would be interested to see how the shift has been affecting his avg. Either way, there is cause for concern for a team in getting him that needs him to advance runners ie continue rallys(most contenders have multiple run producers) instead of just driving them in (only 1 or 2 run producers). Walks and HRs don't continue rallies?$
  15. That's why I am really confused. Must not remember him because he doesn't have an avatar. I'm f'd.
  16. This was a total Winthrop-Tennesee pairing.
  17. It is the official scorer's discretion because nobody qualifies for the win based on normal rules. The starter doesn't earn the win because he failed to go five innings and none of the relievers automatically qualify for the win because none of them were in the game when the team took the lead. So does that mean that the official scorer could actually give the starter the win if the scorer deemed the starter as the most effective pitcher? No. Was this changed? I thought I rememberred a guy getting a win as the starter in less than 5 innings when he left early due to injury or something. I may b making this up.

So does that mean that the official scorer could actually give the starter the win if the scorer deemed the starter as the most effective pitcher? Yes, but the scorer seems to always just give it to the next pitcher after the starter in those cases.
  19. I honestly don't remember a single person who didn't like the Hundley trade at the time. The only objections were that Grudz and Karros would block the younger guys, on a talent for talent basis, and figuring money into account that our books would be clear for when we make our run in '04 :( And Latroy is another poor example. Hendry traded him with a year+ on his contract for Aardsma, who was a pretty good relief prospect at the time and Williams who looked like he could be salvaged as a #4 starter.
  20. Why is the natural conclusion so obvious to us yet the Cubs management never seem to get it. Hundley practically screamed DFA me and yet the Cubs took on 2 bad players, one of whom blocked their best positon prospect at the time. If you add up Hundley's 2 years and compare that with Karros and Grudz 1 year apiece salaries added up, the Cubs really didn't save much money. It ended up working out great, but that was only by pure dumb luck. No one could have reasonably predicted both Karros and Grudz would have rebounded to produce what they did. This is loony.
  21. True, but I think it is fair to say the Cubs fare pretty bad at the casino, compared to others. How about the Red Sox?
  22. That was my initial point. If the Phillies want a crappy, underachieving relief pitcher, we should get in on the action. My point is it's most likely bogus Trib rumor mongering.
